That map of candidate cities is a travesty for the South. With upto 18 stadiums being named I guess most will be selected, with London get 3 or 4 as in the article.

 

Fair play to Plymouth and Milton Keynes for having councils with the balls to bid.

 

I was reading up on Plymouths bid, and if we win the world cup bid they will upgrade their stadium to 48k....seriously, how can they sustain that?

 

their average attendance is only about 10k, a stadium that size for a team like plymouth would be embarrassing.

not really....the city and surrounding areas has a population of about 350k....the nearest prem team is Villa, wolves or pompey..

 

IF, they got into the premier league...with all those people to haul in, they would get big crowds quite easily..

 

many, MANY service personnel would get season tickets for a start...

Thats a bloody big IF though, they're much more likely to be in League 1 or 2 by 2018 than they are the Premiership. Fair play to em for bidding though.
