New Manager Gossip & Rumours

So we reckon that NC has probably interviewed about 5 or 6 managers now. Seems like Adkins took training for Scunny yesterday then had his interview in the evening.

Yet we had one "low numbers" poster hinting yesterday that there was still one more to interview today.

How can an Interview process have suddenly changed to a Adkins is to be announced today meeting?

Whilst it is obviously possible that this will be the case, I do not see how NC would suddenly alter the way he has been working all week. Adkins ONLY had his interview last night so how could he have been NC's favourite for the day or two before hand? and, IF there is one more today it all sounds like more smoke mirrors and guess work.

Is it really a case of last man standing? or is NC continuing to follow a (pretty professional) process he has been buried in for the past week?

Woo hoo 8:56am just before the media storm broke.

Clearly the OS writer reads me first to see what to type

You just KNOW NC and the crew at SMS have been having as much fun this week as we have. I can see them all now over a celebratory bottle of Chianti Classico with our new Manager Jose Mourinho PMSL'ing themselves at having led the Press such a merry dance...

Can you BELIEVE some of the stuff they wrote on that forum about Adkins of all people.... How funny was THAT, and as for the Echo at 2:30 - Brilliant! That will teach those bstds to mess with The Nico

OK Medevac team to SMS please. Apparently there are a number of staff with critical injuries this morning owing to their sides having split.

Cortese 1 The Sun 0

And as for The Echo......

Didda your mamma never asay to you never mess widda Italianians or they setta de Boys onto you

If the Echo say it is going to happen, then it is NOT Adkins. I really do not think it will be. Has not resigned at Scunny so has not been offered the job yet, or has not signed. I think everyone has got a little lost with what is going on.

Any wrong information could be 'leaked' out of SMS to send a curveball. The thing that does not add up is that Scunny or Adkins have not come out and said that he is 100% not going to Southampton. So I still believe like any interview he has not had the call to say if he has or has not got the job. All this means that NC has not made up his mind yet, and is still interviewing. Just like if you or me when for a job interview.

Another fine entrant into The I told You so Stakes. But then seeing as you have a Tardis you clearly cheated, so knocked back into 3rd place at the moment

Yeah a little bit of cheating, but I had to fight the Darliks to get here, well it feels like we are fighting the Darliks with Saints sometimes? Aliens!

Actually I think we all know who is to really blame. After all the problem was never really solved.

I heard another rumour again this morning that Gordon Strachan is wanting the job and just waiting for Tony Mowbray to be installed as manager at Middlesborough, whether true or not it could take ages so catn really see it happeneing

NO No NO....never go back.

Plus Strachan had run out of ideas and was starting struggle ...so no thank you.

In my experience you would conduct ALL the interviews BEFORE offering anyone then job wouldn`t you? If there are still interviews going on then surely NO-ONE has been offered the job and thus NO-ONE has yet turned us down?????

INTERVIEWS...........

We seem to have contrived to even mess this up, offering Howe the job before asking him IF he would take the job IF offered it. You DO NOT offer the job first before finishing ALL your negotiating !!!! This includes any possible compensation negotiations (Atkins). Cortese has been alarmingly poor at this area of business, by his CV and what we are lead to believe his experience in business is this is should have been elimentry ............

Chris, you are 100% correct BUT nobody knows how the process went! Nobody knows (apart from NC and Howe) if Howe was offered the post! Nobody knows (apart from NC and Adkins and Scunny chairman) what happened/was said re compensation! For the life of me, I really can't see NC handling all this as badly as reported. He might have but nobody knows!

It is all ifs and buts at the moment.

Probably posted elsewhere, but Adkins was saying yesterday at 5pm that he was hoping the compensation would be settled last night (Sat) or today (Sun). Scunny have a game on Tues evening, while we have MK Dons on Wed. Adkins must want to know which game he should be preparing for on Monday morning. The longer this goes on today without an announcement the more depressing it gets.

Now I know this could be 1000 miles from being true, but I've just been informed from a contact within the BBC that Hope Powell is coming to manage us starting tomorrow on a 3 year deal alongside an experienced assistant. I pressume its a massive wind up but thought I'd post on here anyway

So now all we need to do is to find out who is pulling the strings and directing Left Back and others in the directions that lead them to make these types of "not quite accurate" comments and we can get on with being a normal Football Club again.

I think that most people on this thread make inaccurate comments on this Forum including the experience and ability of players coaches and chairmen

But are you saying that Cortese has strong links to Italian Football because I cannot find any evidence myself

If so please let me know because I can only find limited info regarding Cortese who appeared to have a job running sports and entertainment departments in banks

Although a reasonable job with access to the football world probably but not that high powered either and not particulary relevant to running a football club

I doubt we will ever return to being a normal football club for sometime

Article refers to Cortese's CLAIM to have contacts in Italy. No source quoted for Guardian's claim AC Milan were after him; my guess is this was also a claim by NC.

Can't imagine AC M would be after him unless he had a track record in football; what is on record about his football experience? Is there anything on record or is he just a guy who likes to big himself up?

Victor it says about appointing him to the board, may not mean football related but his financial acumen.

Didn't NC help the FL with some difficulties last season?

Out of interest, what were the footballing experience records of

Askham

Lowe

Cowen

Crouch

Wilde

And then a few more I picked at random

Ellis

Walker

Gibson

Levy

Moores

Gold

Sullivan

Think there may be a few more if I could be bothered to google.

you could add Woodford and Reader, and before anyone says George Reader was a referee are we going to appoint Graham Poll? lol

Those were the names I was trying to remember

How about a really unsuccessful club these days, Chelsea. And their chairman is

Bruce Buck, heck he's a real footballing legend, look at this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Buck

Wiki

Bruce M. Buck is a founding managing partner of the London office of U.S. law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (J.D., Columbia University 1970; B.A., Colgate University 1967). He is also Chairman of Chelsea Football Club.[1] His practice areas are European mergers & acquisitions, project finance and capital markets work.

[edit] Career

Bruce Buck has been practicing law in Europe since 1983. He left New York for England in 1983 for a “standard tour of duty” of two or three years with his previous law firm White & Case. Five years later he was headhunted by M&A specialists Skadden Arps to develop the firm's European practice from scratch.[2] He has stayed on ever since. As the partner in charge of Skadden's European offices, his work includes a broad range of transactions in the capital markets area. Buck represents both European and non-European clients in a full range of cross border financing transactions, generally in connection with equity offerings or high-yield and other debt financings.

Buck’s involvement with Chelsea began through his position as European head of the American law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.[3] Skadden Arps specialises in mergers, acquisitions and capital market transactions, and Buck had personally done legal work on a number of acquisitions for the Russian company Siberian Oil (Sibneft), through which he came to advise Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. Abramovich was formerly the majority shareholder in Sibneft.

Heck, he isn't even EUROPEAN, so WTF does a Yank know about football?

I seem to be being slow again but:

a) can't see that you made any previous response to my post so do not understand why you included yourself in, and

b) even if you are talking about the response that I commented on, no, it did NOT talk about what I asked which was what was known about NC/s football experience.

However, I infer from the response that mentioned historic characters with no football experience that NC has none.

Have you or any of us, but Im sure if asked we would be more than happy to take the job. Surely the problem with football is that the football world think you have to have played it to be involved. Jimmy Hill used to drive me crazy when he would answer with distain that ,you dont know as you never played the game when he was answering questions.

You only have to watch Motd and see the so called experts having a go at refs as they hadn't played football. It is a nonsense.

IMO NC is well qualified to run a football club and I'd rather him than an ex-player.

For the few that are still opposed to NC. If you get your wish for him not to be at club

Then we will not have a club. (Apart from the Blue square league)

Be Proud of yourself in the likelyhood that this were to happen

How would the chairman of a football club leaving said club render it unable to maintain it's current status?

Even if he does up sticks the owners either find another person to run the club or sell up to another owner who will do the same.

Or am I missing something obvious?

Apart from NC's obvious links and presumed trust of the owners or the near impossible task of selling a football club in the current economic climate you are not missing anything obvious.

read what the echo said at the time, they made 2 phone calls, one to AC Milan and one to Fiorentina both clubs denied having any knowledge of who cortese was!no paper would print this unless substantiated,so dont say"they would say that" This is what first set the alarm bells ringing with me, he lied out of his arse and because him and the echo had already fallen out,the echo made the enquiry, printed the results and from then on the matter was never mentioned. if what the echo printed was not correct cortese would have sued the nuts off them, instead he scurried away having been found out.

same way that he scurried away under the statement sacking Pardew....he had no reason just didnt like him, he used to absolutely seethe when the crowd sang theres only one ML followed by pardewpardew give us a wave, that is the ego of the little man. he knows a few crap agents in italy and that is that!! You are very tedious. I'm sorry that you are so up your own ar*e that you can't/won't see the bigger picture. The rubbish, sorry theories that you are spouting off, maybe you should read the libel thread before thinking you are untouchable. Not that I think NC will bother to sue a 'no mark' like you, but, the admin should really ban you. Unless of course you have any evidence whatsoever to support your claims. Your language is very strong and direct, so I'm guessing you have the information right at your fingertips, don;t hang about, back up those claims now. Reason being, I'm pretty sure you know nothing first hand and at best have heard it from someone with an axe to grinde but most likely it is your own ipinion based on nothing whatsoever, maybe frustration. But, if it was frustration, you'd know what it was like to be a Saints fan, we've had a lifetime of it, so why spit the dummy now?

This forum is becoming rotten to the core. It has become a breeding ground for rumour mongers, people with axes to grind, ex ITKers and most hit the target of NC, because he seems to be an easy target.

I wish you lot would put some energy into supporting our team. What's that? You're from Poopey or you don't go, or you're not a football fan? Souds about right for most on here now. And, just to make it clear, this last comment wasn;t directed at you leftback.

Howard Wilkinson! that bore.I must give NC credit if he was prepared to listen to him more than once. IMO People like him are the reason that English football is as it is.

You obviously have a real problem with NC and perhaps let that get in the way.

SFC is being run as a business, not a plaything for fans and so there will be decisions that we all dislike. We have the choice to go or not, iam stupid enough to have fallen for the product and will put up with it. I was fully prepared to give the habit up when Hoddle was about to return, but at present whilst frustrated at the lack of new faces in certain areas I will let NC get on with it.

The sad death of ML has implications and we are in a crucial time IMO as the family may not be so in love with the club and the hassle may become too much and they may cut and run, so I'd be careful before rocking the boat too much, unless that is your aim of course. We don't know if probate is stopping funds finding their way to the club and NC may well be running the club on the money he has at his disposal from club earnings.
