I used to live very close to there, and a relative lives in that mini council estate down towards the Portsmouth Road roundabout.

 

Do we know what it was all about now ?

 

Some old dear lost 5p and wouldnt stop phoning the police apparently. She only stopped calling them when they went down there en masse to look for it

My dear old nan always told me to keep me hand on me ha'penny. Apparently it referred to when it was considered prudent trot a girl to tuck a coin in the hem of their knickerbockers for emergencies.
