The Adam Lallana injury thread

It could of been worse.

Sorry Appy but that does not make sense. A sentence must contain a verb, in this case the verb should be 'have'. The word "of" is a preposition indicating that something belongs to something else, it is not a verb. Where were you in English lessons?

"Could" is a verb.

So you were the one that bit? Congratulations.

I was going to edit, but decided I will wait and see who picks up on it.

That's my story and I am sticking with it.

If he has had the scan and diagnosis then the club should just come out with a statement on it. I don't know why they would keep quiet and let all this gossip and rumour accumulate when they could easily put an end to the speculation.

Whilst the cat is probably already out of the bag (i.e. from what the likes of THEVMAN has posted) I'm assuming they don't want to keep Sunderland guessing as to whether he'll play or not. Lallana is probably one of those type of players that opposition managers single out for special treatment when preparing tactics for a game.

It therefore wouldn't surprise me if we hear nothing official from the club until the pre-match press conference Thursday next week

Pretty obvious to anyone from Sunderland that he isn't playing against them.

IMO Saints just make more of a big deal about it by saying nothing, and make it seem more of a blow by being secretive.

Its not the clubs fault he got injured, just say he is injured and how long roughly it will be.

Otherwise fast forward to the press conf next Thursday and that all NA will be asked about, hardly a positive way to go into a big fixture vs Sunderland.

Speculation. Nothing more. From what VMAn said it seems worse than that anyway.

Not so sure. VMAN said not season ending but pretty bad. Having Adam missing for the busy xmas and new year schedule is pretty bad IMO, a fair precentage of our games in which he would miss.

Fair enough when a player is touch and go for a game as it keeps the oppo guessing.

For long term injuries, it stops people speculating and screeching about it. We've already had a season ending injury rumour .

The silence from the club surrounding it is uncalled for IMO and doesn't acknowledge that of course the fans care a great deal about our best players being out injured FFS!

I'm not sure that it has become any more of a big deal by the clubs doing. I think there is a tendancy for fans to get their knickers in a twist if they haven't been given the answer that they want immediately - the downside of the google revolution I guess.

And the Southampton Saints defeated the Reading Royals one zip at the weekend with a netbuster from JP1... Think of how it could be - what's not to love?

Great De-fence from the Southampton Saints Steelers leading to a score on the counter O-ffence to sink the Reading Royal blues.

USA! USA! USA! USA!

don't they spell defence as defense? Alway's strikes me as strange, they insist on writing defense but when they're at "football" they hold up bits of fence (which they know how to spell apparently because they don't write fense) with a De in front of them.

Mind you if you listen to most of them real English is just a UK variation of their language.

Unless of course the VMAN is actually part of the conspiracy in trying to pull the wool over Sunderland's eyes.

I tend to find the people who don't enjoy the NFL seem to have never watched it properly, or don't understand the rules. The NFL is very good.

Agree - gets more interesting, the more you understand it -and that takes more investment than most other sports . Anyway SRL loves it.

Probably true tbh. The times I have tried to watch it I just can't get past the goony pads, constant stoppage, mongy crowds etc

that's because you don't get the full matchday package. When you're actually in the stadium the stoppages are filled by dancing girls or mascots doing dumbass stuff. I like NFL but then I've actually been to a few games and have bothered to find out the salient facts about pass interference and stuff like that. Don't quite see what the mongy crowds have to do with your dislike as you're probably only watching it on TV.

Nowt wrong with the NFL, the sport is great. On top of that most players are educated and can string a series of lucid sentences together without resorting to cliches, the commentators are well informed, impartial and willing to admit mistakes, and the referees rarely get things wrong and if they do the sport has embraced modern technology to the extent that wrong calls are pretty much eliminated. I'd like to have seen that plank at the City/United game run on the pitch at an NFL game.

as this thread .started out ..regarding Lallana, and that we know he's going to be out for a prolonged period it's surely the time to experiment with those players who sit on the bench every match and see what they can produce. In particular I'd like to see Mayuka for a run of games and even Tadanari Lee (remember him?) ...if he can rediscover his prev.form......

sad about Adam......but let's face it, what is a squad for.... if it's not to provide cover for such occurances?

I personally blame the club for the direction this thread has taken, if they told us the scoop we'd not be discussing the NFL.

It's a planks game watched by plums. Give me soccerball any day over those commercialised American sports.
