what dates do you go from Porto airport to Vigo and vice versa?

Land at Porto Thursday morning and fly back late Monday night. Looking to go straight to Vigo when we land on Thursday. On Monday, go back to Porto earlyish and have a look around Porto before our flight in the evening.

So is anyone making it over to Villach ?

I'll be there for the Schalke game. Arriving just before 13:00 so I plan to have a good nose around and then end up in some bar near the ground, hopefully with fellow Saints.

Just done a quick round of the office, definitely think the Annenhof is the closest. Junction of Heinrich von Türlin Strasse and Rennsteiner Strasse. Also a little bar/cafe on junction of Vassacher Strasse and August von Jaksch Strasse. Look them up on Google Maps.

http://www.autna.com/venta/horario.php

If you click on this there is an option for look at destinations and book everything in English. You can book seats and all that too. Looks to be about 18 Euros, didn't look to see if that was one-way or return.

This is Thursday - 10:45 Porto (Aero. Fco. Sá Carneiro) Vigo (Est. de Autobuses) 13:40

Monday - 12:00 Vigo (Est. de Autobuses) Porto (Aero. Fco. Sá Carneiro) 12:45

It seems to think it takes 3 hours on the way, but 45 minutes on the way back. It's about 100 miles, surely that aint right?

Also, would it be the same price to just pay on the day? Just in case flight is delayed/cancelled..

Yeah it should be the same price on the day although can't be 100% sure. Looks like 18 Euro return. Had a look at the schedule work it out exactly but my guess would be that one is a direct route and the other stops at other cities/destinations. The return one is direct to the airport whereas the departure leaves the airport and therefore probably has more destinations.

Looking at a map no idea how they are doing the journey in 45 mins...

It's the one hour time difference between Spain and Portugal I think. So the journey takes approx an hour and a half each way.

Tricky one to answer.

I dont go to watch VSV (the home team for the Lind stadium), so not sure where the home crowd congregate. I think most yokels drink in the stadium. Also doesnt sound like many of us are going to be there. There is a pretty decent Gasthaus called Annenhof near the stadum on Heinrich-von-Türlin Strasse. Has a nice beer garden. I would suggest you go in the direction of the Hauptplatz and Lederergasse, that where most of the action is in Villach. The Brauhof up from the Haputplatz is a pretty good bar, quite traditional. Its still a quick yomp across to the stadium. If you have transport and are not dashing back, I suggest you go to the Ackern afterwards. Outside place in a field of massive sunflowers with tents and hay bales and usually a large open-air fire with live music. Only problem is its on the outskirts.

Alpine, thanks very much for the info. I will certainly try out these places. I will have to give Ackern a miss as I have to get a train back to Salzburg. Cheers !

If you are Salzburg and want somewhere to eat try Alter Fuchs just over the river from the old town in the shadow of the Kapinzburg (?) hump in the town damn good feed in there and just for a wheeze try the Pine schnapps it's like drinking a Christmas tree!!

Guys I will be going to both matches in Villach with my family. Alpine can you recommend a good hotel to stay at for 4 days????? Do you think Saints will be staying at Hotel Warmbad????? How do IU purchase tickets for the games????

Hiya,

Not a lot of hotel options in the centre of Villach. Holiday Inn and Hotel Romantik Post are very central and good for the stadium, but f**king expensive. If you have transport, look for a hotel round the Ossiachersee or Faakersee, loads of B&Bs with cheap prices (though of course these matches are in the peak of the holiday season). Try out Booking.com and set the distance to less than ca. 15km.

The rumours I am getting is that because Saints are training at the ground of Velden FC, they will be staying in Velden, but this might be wrong. Velden is on the edge of the Wörthersee (the other end is Klagenfurt and the Euro2008 stadium, which is closed for building work, hence Villach Stadion Lind being used for the games) is a rich boys playground, lots of celebs have appartments there. Likely hotel is the Hotel Casino, but this is speculation on my part.

No advance tickets for the game. My missus went to the stadium and asked. The staff recommend arriving in good time for the game (1 hour ahead) especially for Schalke, who are bringing a big contingent.

Surprisingly big article on Saints Pre season Tour in The Daily Fail.

Maybe any transfer rumours from The Daily Fail could have some substance if they are following the club on tour?

Love SKD's and SRL's march across the coals. SKD chanting OWTS and SRL giving it a "Come on then" offering out but didn't quite have the right hand action or bouncing !!
