I lived in the north east in the early 80's and don't recall hearing it from Geordies (or Sunderland fans ) I can remember, back in the early 80s, playing Sunderland last game of the season at the Dell. At the end of the game we were on the pitch stood in front of them having a bit of 'Banter' and the 'Mackems' actually chanting "Geordie, Geordie...".
