Virtual Private Networks VPNs

I use one, router-based, in South Africa to access geo-sensitive content (mainly BBC/ITV etc) from the lan.

Works very well, no noticeable positive or negative effect on the available bandwidth/connection speeds. Can't say the same for device-based DNS-masking which in my experience does have a bandwidth hit.

In theory it should also let me get into my own home network rom the www, but in practice I haven't worked out yet how to get through my own firewalls.
