Given our current run of form, and frenzied media attention I suspect we will see more stories linking players going out than coming in. A small irritation and price to pay for our success.

Agree about some pace, although even if - and I can't see it happening - AOC returned, where and how would he play ?

My own preferences, if we learnt anything from the Sunderland debacle, is that we need improved back up as CB, LB, and above all a GK.

Who do I want? Banega. I really think he could be the final piece of the jigsaw.

Who do I think we need? Not sure we need anyone, and few of us know enough about the youngsters to say if they're good enough replacements. We could do with a better back up keeper, and we need better cover than fox at left back. If the club think chambers and moving Clyne, or targett, are good enough options then fine by me. Who would want to join as a bench-warmer anyway. We could also probably do with another centre back, though I thought maya was progressing well last year so it's hard to judge. The only other area is probably among the front four, but whether isgrove, Rowe and Gallagher are good enough is difficult to say yet. If the club don't add here it suggests they think they are.

Given that, I'd be ver happy with banega and a keeper and delighted with a quality centre back as well. Too many more might impact our team spirit which is a key strength, though if bale, Walcott and chamberlain decided to return I wouldn't say no.:)

Top of the list has to be a classy Centre back, if anything was to happen to Lovren we would take a massive step back

Agreed. Another quality centre half would be a big plus, I don't see Fonte as the long term answer there.

Left back - easier said than done though as whoever comes in won't be as good as Shaw but who would come here to play back up? Maybe bring in an experienced player that can be used sparingly when shaw needs a rest

Goalkeeper - see left back

I honestly don't think we could improve on our current stating XI without spending silly money. Squad depth is what's really needed, as pointed out, but given our transfer policy it would seem that we're unlikely to grab any bench warmers.

Has anybody seen Targett play recently? I wonder if he's good enough to be back up for Luke yet...

Banega to replace Ramirez. Someone who sees that final pass is something we lack. Imagine him and Osvaldo *drools playing together!

LB GK and CB cover but we should probably focus on LB as we have ok CBs atm.

Zaha is an excellent shout too.

Banega though *drools on self

With the position we are in, despite it not being the clubs policy, I feel any buys would HAVE to be players from the premier league. If around the top 4 and we bought another Ramirez, who took all season to adapt to the league, it will stop us in our tracks. Someone like Chamberlain is perfect, WC hopeful, creative, attacking, Paget, but most important is hard working off the ball and will take no time to adapt. Also feel we could flex our muscles with our lofty league position, so maybe cabaye, Ben arfa, Barkley?

I can never remember a time when I have been so ambivalent toward the January transfer window. Don't want to see any players leave until the end of their contracts and really see only one incoming in January if that. The 'next level' in my book will come from the academy.

Cortese should phone up mark chamberlain & tell him to arrange for AOC to return home

Even if only to upset arsenal

Alway thought that Micah Richards would make a great england player if played regularly would City sell & would he come?

Pointless, wouldn't get a game for us any more than he would for Arsenal, we do not play with wingers. Won't be much movement at all for us, better reserve keeper perhaps and a stand-by left back, that'll be it.

If we get rid of Gaston in the window I would like us to sign a wide player with pace to burn. Mayuka fits that description but I still have my doubts over him being cut out for this level. Somebody like Lacazette would be perfect I think.

Muyuka isn't a wide player though really, he'd be being played out of position really. Lacazette though does look a promising player eh!

As a replacement for Gaston, I'd like to see a cheeky bid put in for Iker Munian - Widely regarded as the Spanish Messi, still very young but gives the defenders in La Liga a hard time.

As for CB - Kurt Zouma's name has been floating around recently, with Liverpool interested I believe. Again another young player - French this time - but oozes class and maturity.

If we are aiming for a young team, I'd like those to. Ofc Bagnea would be lovely too!

Need backups for keeper and left back and more squad depth to cover injuries. Do this with Gaston money (experiment hasn't worked). Would also but in on Defoe to West Ham with cheeky bid maybe, much as I dislike him (undoubtedly a goal scorer). But biggest thing is to KEEP THIS TEAM TOGETHER

Zouma is an animal, any decent club wouldn't touch him with a bargepole. Just picked up a 10 match suspension for one of the worst tackles you'd not want to see.

True, but I think he's looked his best for us cutting in off the right flank. West Ham and Spurs last season stand out for me.

Lacazette will be a hell of a player though, and the first move in this video is the kind of thing we put together every week! Having a pacy finisher to get on the end of little one-twos would make us so much more potent going forward, although we're pretty solid as it is!

Could earn us a few penalties if that is anything to go by. The first one has shades of Chelsea's yesterday about it.

Crap player, bad attitude. 2 reds and 5 yellows in about 8 games this season. Not the sort of player you need really.

Cortese should ring up Mark Chamberlain and tell him that pushing his son into a move to a " big club " was probably a very bad career move.

Richards is widely thought to "not take instruction very well", which isn't really an asset for a modern player, especially when Saints' system is so different to most other English clubs.

I haven't seen him since the U21s got stuffed at St Mary's by Chelsea, and he was nowhere near good enough then. Rowe, Reed and Sinclair all looked close, everyone else wasn't there yet.

It would be nice to think that we'd have some goalkeeping, defensive and midfield depth if any of our essential players got injured, plus if our dream really is real, we're going to need another 11 or so to spin in and out of the European matches. :)

These international breaks concern me - especially now we have a lot of internationals.

Imagine picking up injuries to two or three. Imagine going to Arsenal and Chelsea without say Lallana, Shaw and Boruc

but they have as much chance as we do of picking up injuries. Most of our lads are just going for friendlies, only Lovren and Gaston have competitive matches. For Arsenal however some of them have the play-offs aganst those bruisers from the Ukraine, imagine them with Giroud or Sagna or Koscielny, they aren't as plush as all that with really, really good players.
