How much will we spend and who will we lose?

This summer could prove to be a pivotal moment in the progress of our club.

Will KL sell?

Will we have a new manager?

Can we keep our young players together?

Will we see any return of/on Osvaldo?

Whatever happens, I believe our squad needs continued investment.

So, who can you see us parting company with and what do you think our total spend on new players will be before the first game of next season?

I will go for Osvaldo out (there may be a few others but he's the only one we will get any worthwhile money for).

Total Spend: £23.75m.

This would make me happy.

Over to you.

Lallana won't go anywhere. Can see Luke going for £30m.

All comes down to the owner and manager situations at the end of the day.

If Katherina wants to carry on pushing the club forward and Poch stays, the I can see is spending another £30m plus anythig we bring in.

maybe the owner wants to use the club as an immediate cash cow

sell some players and replace them with far cheaper ones so she can re coup some cash??

It is indeed a pivotal summer in which we can either push and create a very exciting prospect for next season or the first time in 5 years, see the holt to our upward trajectory.

Say what you like about Cortese but we never really had to worry too much about losing our best players in transfer windows or that there wouldn't be sufficient investment in the squad whilst he was here.

He have no real CEO, an uncertain boardroom and backroom structure and no idea if Pochettino will stay. It doesn't seem like a recipe for a good summer.

Maybe, but what would the point be in the owner attending several games, look at appointing a Ice Hockey coach to the club etc, if they intended to just try and use the club as an immediate cash cow?

For some reason Lallana to Manchester United seems plausible to me. I don't think Adam has any great desire to move, but it just seems like the kind of slightly odd panic buy that Moyes would do while Chelsea and Man City are out buying the biggest megastars from the WC. If United lob 25 mil at us we probably would sell.

Which, weirdly, might see us keep Shaw one more season...or I might just be mental.

Personally I think the club has hit a ceiling and will need to spend quite a bit just to stay a top 10 club anything higher would probably take eye watering amounts of money. Players will leave, that's the nature of the modern game, but to stay were we are we need to replace them with decent replacements and re-invest money from player sales back into the team if we do that that and continue to bring good academy players into the 1st team we could easily become a top half PL side for many years. Anyone hoping for more than that is IMO being unrealistic.

All this talk about pushing to the next level is pretty mad when you consider how much money the next level would require. Going from league 1 to the PL, great achievement though it was, is probably easier (and cheaper) than becoming a regular CL team.

Appointing an ice hockey coach to look at ways of streamlining the sports side of the business

She is going to see what it is all about

I just have a nagging feeling Lallana will go there- to be honest if you were him you would probably go too. He can't really achieve much more with us and will probably feel he has put in a good innings for us and this is a good chance of staying in the England team and maybe winning some silverware. I know being from Bournemouth and close to his roots and so on makes us hope he'll stay but I just think he'll want to take the next step up.

Can also see Wenger putting in a bid of around 16-18M for Morgan and then Morgan wanting to go which is fair enough. Again he has given us great service and to get into the French team he has to go.

Poch will almost certainly leave and so I feel those two mentioned there will feel it's time to move on.

Those are the only 3 I can see leaving really (and the Rolling Stone wannabe of course). I think Lovren and Big Vic will stay another year or so...

Theyve got Mata, Januzaj, Kagawa, Nani, Rooney, Young, Valencia and Welbeck all going for those 3 attacking positions behind the striker...

They really don't need anyone else there :/

They have Vidic leaving, Evra and Ferdinanand aging, Carrick and Fletcher are getting older, Cleverley just shyte, Smalling/Jones/Evans aren't the best.

If I'm honest, I think they will invest more in defence than in attack.

Welbeck is not that good and I can see nani and young not being there in the summer

Nani and Young likely to be cleared out, and it's just a hunch based on Moyes wanting players he thinks he can actually manage. Not sure they desperately needed Fellani last summer but he chucked some serious coin at getting him in.

What Man U mainly need is a different manager.

I don't think anyone major will leave and I don't think MP will leave either. People on here seem certain, but people on here always run with rumour as fact if it's repeated often enough. I just haven't seen the evidence to draw those conclusions. I think MP knows his stock has risen while he's been here and he'll be keen to let that build a bit.

i think we'll make attempts to sign a couple of new players, but due to being burned on our biggest signings, I don't think we'll be breaking any more club records this time.

unlike many on here who are disappointed with our season, I think upper mid PL is very good for a club our size and I think we'll need some spending to maintain that. Our attack is the obvious area that needs work, lambert is ageing and showing it, JRod plays well, but can't be relied on to score enough goals considering how many chances he gets.

Lallana won't leave.

However, our midfield is a big question mark.

Schneiderlin has leveled off this year after constantly progressing since the Liebherr takeover. Maybe it's time to move him on before it becomes harder to command a good fee?

Cork has offered a steady, very good level, but we won't be offered a massive amount of money for him. For this reason, I don't think selling him on will bring much benefit to the club.

But with Wanyama and Ward-Prowse (but needs to up his game?) as the main bets for the future, one of them will have to go (Davis was brought as a rotational player and I expect will see out his contract in this condition). In this sense, I can see Cork settling for a rotational role, much like Davis, but Morgan will want to play every week. For this reason I think it will be him.

My main bets are therefore Schneiderlin and Clyne, somewhere around the 10-12 million mark for the RB and hopefully into the 18-20s for the CM.

I think Chelsea or Man Utd will throw enough money Shaw's way to turn his head. Most likely Chelsea as Utd wont be able to offer Champions League football (will be a hilariously bitter pill for Utd fans to swallow, when targets start turning them down in favour of Arsenal, City and Liverpool).

I wouldn't be surprised if some big clubs came in for Lovren too. Possibly Utd as they need a new defence and Vidic is leaving. If Lallana has a decent WC it will take a lot of money to prize him away. Chelsea, City and Utd are stocked for attacking midfielders. Arsenal will probably prioritise a striker and I doubt Liverpool would pay the asking price after what happened with Carroll. In short, I think he will stay.

Guly and the out of squad players will leave. Osvaldo will eventually be sold back to Italy and we will probably lose a good couple of million.

I think we will see some mild investment but in cheaper, young players.

If I had to place a bet on Poch, I think he will stay. Mainly because I don't think he has done enough to get a big move away.

Lovren will be going nowhere if he plays many more games like last saturday and attracts the same bad reviews. Didn't Hanson pick him out for stick on MOTD?

He won't play against Suarez and Sturridge every week to be fair.

Of all scenarios yours is the most unlikely. I'd pull back from saying it is daft!

The key to it all is Pochettino, if he stays there'll be only a minor clear out and perhaps two people in - striker and centre-back. Luke Shaw is 18 he plays for England, plays PL football every week and has no incentive at all to leave until he is 21 at the earliest.

Never under-estimate how insecure an 18 year old footballer can be when he leaves home for a strange city that maybe he has never visited, having spent 10 years or more since being a kid in the closed and closeted confines of one club and remember too this guy is very close to his mum & dad. He may be big for a lad but certainly does not come across as big-headed, more bewildered than anything by how his life is rapidly unfolding probably even beyond his comprehension.

He's just not ready to move on yet and having long standing pals like Chambers & Ward Prowse at almost the same level and in the same team of course is a massive factor holding him here.

I really hope we can keep our best players (apart from Ossie, bridges well and truly burnt on that one unfortunately) because with the exception of our finishing they are all pretty damn good.

If anyone goes I'd say it would be Shaw and possibly Lovren. Think Adam and Morgan will hang around a bit more yet.

Hopefully we'll get that goal scoring striker + a rival to Boruc and if Lovren were to depart another CB.

Luke Shaws family are from Kingston and he moved away from home to live in Southampton at 15 If he joined Chelsea he could aruagbly move closer to his family. So the imagine of a lonely 18 year old cuddling his teddy on his own in a big city and pining for his parents isn't quite washing i'm afraid.

a window exactly like last summers will do me just fine.

3 quality players in a striker an attacking midfielder and a centre back and ideally not lose anyone except Osvaldo. Ideally i'd like some decent cover for Boruc or someone better than him or a younger keeper. Cant say i've been too impressed with Gazzaniga.

Rumours were we had agreed a deal to sign Aaron Hunt on a free from Werder Bremen so that is perhaps the attacking midfiedler ticked off.

I reckon we will spend 100 million

....and we'll receive 80 million

Osvaldo, Shaw, Guly, Lambert and one of Lovren, Lallana, Schneiderlin & Rodriguez to go

Massive rebuild

No chance we'll receive £80m for the players you mention.

Trouble is we have hit our glass ceiling in terms of achievement, those players who want more will have to move to get what they want

I wouldn't say we've hit the ceiling, Everton have achieved more with a limited budget. If we had a decent 20 goal a season man and a better reserve 'keeper we would be right up there with them and Spurs this season.

In Lallana, Lovren, Shaw and Morgan we have at least 4 players Champions League quality. Then we've got the likes of Davis, Fonte, Cork, Boruc and Chambers who rarely let the team down. We just need more firepower up front and more consistency in our game.

I go along with this ... but would also like to see the position with Ramirez resolved. We either need to get rid and replace with better or properly assimilate him into the team. I suspect we will get rid.

Yup. I 100% mirror these sentiments.

Cannot understand the clamour for an entirely new squad's worth of signings every summer. Despite it consistently being shown to not work out well for that club. Quality over quantity every single time for me.

Agree with the areas you highlight too. Striker, CB, AM & GK in order of preference for me. I'm not a huge fan of square pegs in round holes, but possibly a CB that can do a job at LB & an AM also capable as playing up top would be really helpful. Though with how we play under MP it would take some real versatility, as FB's and ST's play quite specialised roles, i.e. FB's are relied upon to offer a lot of width and presence going forward - not neccesarily what you would look for as top priorities in a CB.

Still not convinced on that Shaw & MP leaving is a foregone conclusion, as many seem to either.

I think Ramirez will leave as well, just hasn't worked out for him here and he'll want to be somewhere where he is a first team regular; the only thing that might be a struggle is finding a club in Italy or Spain that would come close to paying the salary he's on here.

Will KL sell?

For me, the jury's out

Will we have a new manager?

Highly likely

Can we keep our young players together?

No. Shaw will go, Lallana possibly. Rickie may go for one last fling/pay-day, but then he might stay depending on who management and tactics are, we might even see Morgan J-Rod and Clyne go. Hopefully Gashy will bog off and then all the cuckolding will stop. I really wish NC was still here to protect the squad....

Will we see any return of/on Osvaldo?

Reckon we'll be stuck with him for a while because Juve wont take up the option. Maybe we'll find another hapless mug Serie A club in desperation for a striker.

That injury was so frustrating, there were some very promising displays just prior to that. I'd still like him to come good, he is going to be a good player. But I agree it hasn't really worked out probably as both sides would have liked.

If he does leave, I'd like to see an extra AM (in addition to one I'd already like to see come in) be sourced.

Inter are said to be interested in Osvaldo as well, we are said to be interested in Taider from Inter so perhaps if Juve don't take up the option with a bit of horse trading between us and Inter everybody will be suited. I just wish we had a real CEO to give us some sort of direction just now.

I agree, he has shown plenty of promise, the lad obviously has ability, but it hasn't worked for him here and he still seems to struggle with the pace of the game in our league; really hard one to call and guess what will happen to him and where he'd end up. Be interesting to see if he gets much world cup time and how he does with that.

The direction Cortese stated he wanted to go he never fully pursued by him or the club, paper thin squad and poor purchases did not help him realise a dream larger clubs spending far more money have also failed on previously.

It was all but a dream.

Maybe, I'm not so sold on this idea World Cups change everything.

Given how much time and money goes into scouting nowadays, and the analysis that goes on behind the scenes I don't think 3-7 good games are really likely to spark clubs into rushing out to sign someone.

Chances are, if you are good enough to play at a World Cup, most clubs scouting teams will already be aware of you.

Just my opinion, of course.

Everton are a far bigger club than us with fans every other week coming in from Europe, the way I see it is if we offered the same amount of money to a player who would choose us over other clubs? There are a lot but none are above us in the League and there in lies the problem, for us to progress we have to spend more than the others not only to keep up, but to progress and attempt to overtake them, thats not going to happen.
