Although I can't say I'm a fan of any club coming out and saying what they're going to do, or going to achieve. It's good to have goals but I see no need to pander to a fanbase with empty rhetoric. Just get on with it.

Before the usual trolls ruin this, I'd like it on record that I thank Glasgow for reminding us:

A) this was the last year of league/fa cups

B) this was the only year that teams above and below us in league standings had gone out and remained in cup competitions when we went out

C) being 4 games away from either league or fa cus was a better chance than winning a trophy than being one game away (aka the final)

Its not the 2nd season they have been playing together though is it for most of them? The glass ceiling has been reached, people are only seeing that now.

The skates/SADs/hard of thinking thrive on dislike...it reminds them of their schooldays and gives them an attention that they can only get on an internet forum.

FA Cup all day long.

The reality for us is that our club put 8th (not 4th) above an FA cup run this season.

That is a worry - an approach I hope that died when NC left.

ain't it that hans gruber said our ambition is to "maximise our potential". He said it like three or four times. It seems a pretty realistic ambition IMO. I would be v.happy if we maximise our potentials.

What's so bad about people dreaming about getting in the Champions League? Sure, it's a bit delusional, but it's not as bad as some of our supposed fans on here who would rather be in Sunderland's position this season. How's that working out for them?

So what you are saying is that the reason people want fourth is that there is an increased chance of a cup run in the future? Why not just take the cup option in this hypothetical scenario instead? I don't understand the logic there. If we win the cup it would be remembered and treasured for decades. Finishing fourth is a footnote by comparison.
