Yes he's only been there since just after the World Cup so it would be odd for him to consider moving so soon. However RonKo managed him last year at Feyenoord so he knows him well, and he looked a pretty powerful left sided centre back at the World Cup. Lets wait and see what unfolds... Point is that he tends to be left sided, whereas Toby is more generally right-sided, except for Saints. Yes it is odd, as while he is a very powerful defender (and certainly not a slow coach), he is not rapid enough to play as a left back in the sense that we like our full backs to play. He is nowhere is fast as Nat or Ryan nor does he have their attacking nouse either. I think if he played up against Jefferson Montero, then he would be roasted in a similar manner as Chambers was last week I would suggest. He just needs a bit more experience and an extra 10kg to be a superstar. Of course, it's fine if everyone's on form and fit... but just now Jay Rod ( Pelle's alternative ?) is still out. JWP will be out another 1-2 months, Steven Davis was injured last weekend... as was Schneiderlin. Mane will be away ..3 weeks in January for African Cup of Nations... and possibly Wanyama, too (if Kenya qualify). WE may end up playing people out of position just to be able to field a good side. It goes to show you can never have enough talent available, if we qualify for a Euro. competition, we need all the back-up we can get (injuries, suspensions etc,) and a chance for them to " play themselves in".
