Schneiderlin Speculation

Killers Knee

Recommended Posts

Telegraph has Schneiderlin valued at £20m. As he is good enough to play for PSG, Chelsea or Real we should attract a little more than the usual derisory offer from that lower team, Spurs.

I know he hasn't long on his contract and could walk on a free but we should be looking to sell him to the cream of Europe, not to little teams beneath us.

Arsenal and Liverpool can eff-off as well, they have too many of our players as is.

So, where too and for how much?

Force him to stay again next season? Wonder how he would react to that haha.

If he goes, I'd prefer for him to go abroad. At least that way we're not increasing the quality of one of our rivals. I'd take 30 from PSG, but any other Prem clubs and I'd want 35/40 (the asking price is so high they get turned away basically!!)

Having said that he does deserve a change of scenery after everything he has done for us :)

If we're going to have to sell then sell to a foreign club so he can't strengthen our competitors. Ideally we sell to PSG and try and get Cabaye as part of the deal, but that is probably completely unrealistic considering the money he will be on.

Fee needs to be very close to 30 million

This argument is nonsense. Who do you think was strengthened by the us selling Lallana and Lovren...

If you sell to your competitors for exuberant fees then you make ground on them...They pay over the odds and you get the money to replace the sold player plus extra for developing the team. The key their is over the odds... selling to the competition for anything approaching replacement value is moronic. I.e. Arse selling RVP for only £24m, but then that was bad contract management and transfer planning full stop - the result of which is Arsenal not winning anything of note since the invincible (bar a cup where the best team they had to beat was hull). I would be quite happy with us selling Morgan to an english team for £30m.

In perspective here for you, Toby is better and younger than Morgan, and he is costing us £6.2m (should we sign him)... Plus the lad wants to be here, plus he is replacing Lovren who we sold for £20m.... Selling to your rivals is superb business if you do it correctly.

In general I completely agree with you, i just think in this case it will be near on impossible for us to replace him, and i also think he will HUGELY improve Spurs, Arsenal or United. Why sell to them when we could possibly sell him abroad?

whether he goes ...or not - if Lallana's transfer was £25 million - can Schneiderlin be worth less ?

He's definitely not worthless. I'd say he actually has a very high level of worth.

He has consistently been our best player for years, and if we want to seriously end up in the CL we need players of Morgan and Toby's level across the whole pitch. As Morgan has been one of the best in his position in the Premier League for 3 years now, and we are financially OK, I personally wouldn't take a penny less than £40m, I genuinely think he is worth that to us, and the sort of teams that he will suit and fit into will be able to pay it.

a bit too casual ....of course I meant..... worth less (than that). £25 million.

I don't believe he will go in January but I'm sure he will go in the Summer. We may have a chance if we finish in the CL spots but I still think he may go if we do.

In terms of value we cannot accept anything below £25m.

Agree, and after 250 games, he must be " reaching his peak ". Maybe £25+ million now ...but next year ?

He'll go in the summer i think that's pretty obvious, and to be honest i think it's fair enough. Starting value though should be £25m given his age and the fact that players of his type to hit their peak till 27/28.

Also would be really ****ed off to see him go to a club in this country and would hope that we wouldn't do it, PSG seems a good fit from a team that need someone like him and have the money but i honestly believe he's perfect for Barcelona and would fit into their side incredibly well.

Why do people always do that? Transfers are all different. If Matic had been in the Premier League he'd have gone for more. Plus they're different types of player. I think they'd make the best CM partnership around personally, surprised Chelsea haven't gone for him.

I'd want £30m for Morgan. He's a brilliant player, proven in the Premier League, consistent, a French international and with a long career ahead of him.

Good business all round in the summer. We would be fine with Wanyama, JWP, Reed, Davis and maybe Cork. Sign someone else to show ambition, but if he's the only summer sale then we've done well. Shows our depth that we've looked alright without him at times.

Assuming we can keep him of course I think he might be in higher demand than Morgan this summer.

Matic went to Chelsea for £21m. He's a better player than Morgan IMO. £20m is about right.

DMs are always undervalued relative to their value to the team, but yeah, probably about £20-25m. And I was saying I wanted £35m for Lallana... Hopefully we'll run the price up ridiculously if we finish top 4 and he still wants to go, though.

Why do people always do that? .

Because that's how valuations work. Comparables are used. A better player is worth more than an inferior player. Sure, supply and demand and other factors come into player but a comparable is a well recognised starting point.

We HAVE to keep him this window. £25m in the Summer if no CL and that's that.

This. Get Champions League and he'll stay put. Anything else and he can leave with good grace in the summer, for no less than Lallana who, despite playing in different positions, is not quite as good as Morgan.

Seems pretty likely by all accounts. Pretty sure 99% of Saints fans would wish him well.

Except that people have been saying that since Morgan arrived in the UK and Morgan has reportedly expressed a desire to play CL which Arsenal might not be able to give him next season. If he goes anywhere in the PL I suspect it would be Man Utd probably 60 million double swoop for Morgan and Victor.

I agree with part of that, but if we get CL...and Arsenal do as well.....the big Q. will be will he play for us at 40K / week , or Arsenal for 100K / week ?;)

Arsenal and Spurs seems the obvious destination. However having said that it is a 'delicate' situation and he is more likely to leave in the summer. I'm wondering if he is thinking hang on a minute, Saints might actually get top four and Arsenal and Spurs won't and I want to play CL, so I'll hang on until the summer and might actually want to stay!! Here's hoping.

The nub of this question is how do you value any player or rather who does. In the end the value is what a buyer is prepared to pay. We've all been on e-Bay sellng stuff and look how difficult that is to gauge right. Maybe the way to go is to have an auction, notify all the big clubs here and abroad that he will be up for grabs and just let it rip... opening bid at £0.99.

Any more bids from the room, I have 47million Euros on Line 1..... ? Bloke called Koeman from Spain?

I don't think us getting in to the CL will be enough to keep him. I've heard he lives and socialises in London (due being recognised less often) a lot of the time and finds it a ball ache getting back and forth.

Source is usual mate of a mate stuff though so who knows.
