Direct train from Schipol airport to Arnhem which is directly underneath the airport terminal. Costs about €35 return

Schipol airport has its own station right underneath the airport (all well signed). Automated Ticket machines are easy to find & use (in Englush & take credit cards).

We paid 14 euros each way for intercity express to Rotterdam(took 20 mins), normal fare was 12 euros.

Amsterdam to Arnhem - €16 Takes about an hour

Amsterdam to Schipol - €4 and takes 15 to 20 mins

"Reisplanner" app is worth downloading. Gives time and info on platforms etc

I'd download b-europe app instead, Belgian website with the exact same format as the Dutch site and all the same information, but allows pre-printing of tickets and payment via card in advance. I've had my trains booked for weeks, very flexible tickets.

The one problem we had getting to De Kuip last week was the bloody Dutch ticket machines at the train station, which are random as hell and would not give me what I needed despite being multi-language. I think afterwards I worked out that the discrepancy in the price was due to it automatically charging me for a travelcard (possibly an OV-chipkaart, but don't quote me on that), which you don't need to buy at all if you pre-book and pre-print.

Also, if someone Dutch could give some advice about whether that ov-chipkaart IS the one you need for travel between cities in Netherlands, or what else you'd need to get, that would be handy. But I suspect they're all off here now they've already visited.

I have just looked in my wallet, which currently contains Euros, ov-chipkaart for Rotterdam and GVB tram card from Amsterdam, tickets for the match, debit cards and my season tickets. 3 days away yet!

You can get deals on the trains similar to the 4 for 2 or 4 for 3 deals that we used to have here. Last week it cost only 10 euros each for our return trip by train to Rotterdam and I think this week our Dutch friend has got us tickets to Arnhem for 8 Euros each.

Just wondering really, but who do you think is covering the cost of the "fanzone" in Arnhem (assuming there is one)?

Mainly the council and tourist board, if they're even separate entities, I'd have thought. Maybe a sponsor if there's only one brand of beer on sale or something like that?

Only 167 travel club spaces, which they predicted would sell out quickly, and they're still trying to shift them. Just put the tickets on general sale.

They won't put them on general sale. If anything it will be for those who have been to X amount of aways from last season.

I contacted vittesse who have said that the tickets have been sent out and if they do not arrive before Wednesday, email them and they will duplicate them to pick up at the ground.

So all this talk of stuff being cancelled is obviously rubbish, but seems they are going to be ok with picking up on the day if they have not arrived via post.

it's more than a few tickets, it is over 10% of the away allocation being reserved for a organised trip that was announced so late anyone who was thinking of going had already booked up travel independently. The ironic thing of this is we could be left with empty seats in the away end when hundreds of fans who met the criteria would have loved to purchase them.

if they try pulling a stunt like this again for an away game where we have an even smaller allocation there will be a lot of angry regular away fans missing out.

I certainly wouldn't be moaning. Quite why people are incapable of organising travel to Holland themselves is frankly bizarre.

True, and valid point. Just like some of the espanyol fans on Sunday.

The post was more aimed at the people who have purchased ticket in the home sections, that were worried about the tickets getting cancelled or refused entry, which seems to not be the case.

The Club have to be flexible and consider the context of each game. It should be obvious that a trip to Holland will mean more travelling independently and less requiring official travel.

Plus delaying the announcement of the official travel and price being quite steep means the demand was not going to be that high.

With people starting to travel on Wednesday, let's hope it's not too long before they make tickets available without having to do the official tour.

That's fine at the beginning of the sale but now 3 days before the game it's wrong as they will not sell them now.

They could of continued to drop the restriction day by day rather than waiting to the last minute.

Buying a ov chipkaart might be handy. Everyone in Holland use them, there are machines on the stations and schiphol aswell where you can upload money on the card. You can use the card on busses/trains etc.

Exeter? They ended up cordoning off a section behind the goal in their biggest end for Saints fans and escorted plenty more from the side stands onto the terrace.

I was trying to work out if the €7.50 charge makes it worth getting one or not but then gave up.

Do they check tickets on the trams in Amsterdam? Last time I was there I just hopped on and off without paying figuring I could plead ignorance if asked for a ticket.

There are 4 games tomorrow in the Champions League so I thought I'd summarise the situation regarding which teams we want to win in those matches to ensure the best possible chances of us being seeded in the play-off round.

Southampton's co-efficient is 16.078 so we need teams in the Champions League with a higher co-efficient than that to win their leg and teams with a lower co-efficient to lose. The losers of each Champions League tie will be in the play-off round for the Europa League.

Monaco (31.483) v Young Boys (31.375) - It doesn't really matter because both teams have a higher co-efficient than Saints. Monaco won the first leg 3-1 so it seems likely that Young Boys will drop into the Europa League.

APOEL (35.460) v Midtjylland (7.960) - APOEL won the first leg 2-1 so it looks likely that Midtjylland will drop into the Europa League, which is a good news from our point of view.

Molde (10.375) v Dinamo Zagreb (24.700) - The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw. Molde have an away goal but we could do with a Dinamo Zagreb win.

Ajax (66.195) v Rapid Wien (15.635) - The first leg ended in a 2-2 draw. Ajax have two away goals so are in a decent position to win their leg, which is what we want.

So to clarify, in tomorrow's Champions League matches, we want wins for APOEL, Dinamo Zagreb and Ajax.

The ones with 7 aways have been able to buy that exact travel package for a week without those with less than that being able to buy it.

Thanks - I think for most people only visiting for the one match it's probably better to buy the tickets online (if they can) and get either pre-printed or use the QR code you can get through on the b-europe app. I printed mine to prevent any phone battery problems.

I found it REALLY annoying to have the cost of the card added to the cost of the ticket for very limited use (basically two trains) and decided to get a disposable one instead, it more than doubled the price of the journey to pay for the card AND the train and the disposable ones don't charge a "card" fee - might be useful if anyone is planning multiple visits to Holland though...

You have to tap in and out on the trams, the touch pads are like London Tube ones but they're next to the driver or the conductor, you can only get on next to them, and you get off at different doors.

It was 6 Euros for a 24 hour card, which is about £4 for unlimited travel, don't be a scabby dog. They will all speak English, and they will also fine you. I didn't get on a tram last week which didn't have at least two people checking. You CAN buy a ticket on the tram itself, but if you're getting on more than one of them you're better off getting the 24, 48 or 72 hour card anyway. Time starts from first check-in.

You can buy the GVB cards for the Amsterdam local transport from a machine on the right as you go into the white pavilion-looking hut across the tramlines to the left as you come out of the front of Amsterdam Centraal Station - and probably from the concourse in Centraal as well, though I didn't check that.

The 7.50 Euro OV-chipkaart seems to be primarily for overland train travel, but it also worked on the RET (trams, buses etc) in Rotterdam , let's put it like that... though I have no idea if it would have been valid in Amsterdam on the GVB!

Suffice to say once you know you're getting nailed 7.50 Euros for a permanent "Oyster-style" card, you tend to look for other ways to get a valid ticket.

Can anyone suggest the best way for my friends and I to get from Rotterdam to Amsterdam (Wednesday and back on Friday) and Amsterdam to Arnham and back (Thursday)? As simple and cheap as possible. Would appreciate any help.

Post has just arrived this morning and still no sign of the ticket for the home end that I ordered the day after the draw was made.

I've emailed Vitesse asking if they can reprint it and send to my hotel in Arnhem.

I now have a ticket in the saints section but would like to be able to pass it on the block 122 to someone who might be without and really don't want to have to go to the stadium during the day to collect it. (I'll be wearing my saints shirt so not sure they'd let me collect a home section ticket lol)

I would've assumed we would want the opposite. We're borderline at the moment, the more teams with a higher co-efficient would push us into the bottom half and we'd be unseeded, no? How do this work then?
