Senior Players Meeting?

Not sure what to make of this. Having a quiet pint in Eling and in walked Fonte, Bertarm , Steve Davis & Kelvin Davies. No they did not buy loads of drinks and get ****ed but sat in a quiet part of the pub for an hour with a pint each and talked. Is this the senior players sorting out what needs to be done or just. A post match drink? No great shakes but would like to think they are getting their heads together to see a way forward together. Who knows!

Pretty smart getting back from Norwich already and out to a pub in Eling, surely they would still be sitting at the lights in Southampton City Centre wouldn't they? :) Bertie being there would be a bit odd, hardly a senior player, though interesting that none of Koeman's players were involved.

No, the Anchor, Rufus being updated so they say. With regards timing they must have flown back as they were in by 8:30 and gone by 9.30

takes me back.... have had a few beers in both of those pubs, (& the Vilage Bells was it?) over the years, as has my Dad, Grandfather etc.

The Anchor had a stunning barmaid in the mid 1970's, or at least it appealed to me at the time. It was enough to encourage the underage Badger to drink...

Anyway, glad to hear some of our lads are down to earth to go in The Anchor rather than seeking the glitzy life. Perhaps it shoulds be on our club tour when enticing players to sign.

Not sure people as sensible as that lot would hold a meeting in a pub. If they were there (and I'd expect someone to take a picture), I'd imagine they were just socialising.

You clearly haven't been to the anchor, it's normally emptier than fatpipes :)

You say that, but thinking about it there aren't really many 'senior' players! Was just looking at the squad and the turn over of the players has left us with very little of the core players

Yes, guess you are right, if you take out all of the "Koeman players" and those not in the squad yesterday. But otherwise the Club Captain, the Team Captain and the Team Vice-Captain plus Bertie. Doubt they are planning a coup, more like what they are going to do about the waywards. Either that or it was Kelv's retirement party.

Ralph reading the riot act

He gave them a motivational speech the day before the game. I'd need a beer or six as well if I had to listen to one of those :)

High effective motivational speech then, that's obvious. I really don't know what he's still doing at the club, must be good at something I suppose, just can't put my finger on it though.

Always interesting to know what groups the players socialise in.

I would have thought these 4 are all pretty level headed

Well it's the captain, vice captain (and Northern Ireland captain), club captain and oldest home grown player. It's probabaly not a friendship group as such. It does make sense that this would be the group to have a serious discussion about our clubs form and issues they feel need to be dealt with.

VVD, Romeu, Wanyama, Steven Davis, Pelle and Mane all live within about half a mile of each other in Winchester, they're obviously often out and about.

Steve Davies did karaoke dressed as Batman in a pub in Winch on Halloween.

His main song was "Pelle is immobile and overrated" :-)

Interesting. I'm in Winchester High Street nearly every day and have never seen Van Dijk, Mane or Romeu around. Saw that picture Romeu posted from the Itchen though.

(Gardos also lives in Winchester, by the way)

I saw Van Dijk in Winchester just after he signed, he had quite the group of followers. The only other Saints player I've seen in Winchester is Matt Le Tiss, and that was over 10 years after he retired.

Never mind all that, have you ever seen Michael Owen or Martin O'Neil? Heard they're sharing a flat in Winchester!!!
