They all do it to the same extent? Johnson even claimed that there were no media present when there was a film crew standing a few feet away from him. But let’s pretend that somehow it is ok because they all do it. He and Trump have taken it to another level.

What did he do last night that is illegal?

Labour leave-supporters are falling over themselves to support the deal. It's going through no problem.

And those Labour MPs have sealed the fate of Corbyn. Labour facilitating Brexit is a simultaneously a gift for the Conservatives (Boris delivers Brexit and takes all the credit) and a gift for the Lib Dems (Labour delivered Brexit and take all the blame). So that's something.

Eh?

I see that the EU say that theyare considering an extention.

Rightly or wrongly people are hanging on to this and hoping tht Brexit fails, but what all have to understand that the EU are delighted we are in limbo as every week more business and investment leaves our shores to Europe.

It is self inflicted demise. Madness of a nation

But if we left the EU this movement to Europe will turn into a flood.

Which he didn’t sign and sent another letter saying ignore his first letter.

The law didn't state that he had to sign it, only that he had to send it. He didn't even have to write it as that was all done for him.

There was nothing in the law that stated he couldn't send another letter.

So, where, exactly has he broken the law?

Shouldn't he be "dead in a ditch" at the moment as that was what he said he'd prefer.

Just another lie.

He has not, technically, broken the law, but the question is whether he is trying to deliberately thwart or obstruct the intent of the law.

Push this deal through and it won’t stop the uncertainty, we could still crash out at the end of 2020 without a deal.

The Tories banging on about “just getting it done” is laughable, they are the ones who have wasted three years with pointless leadership changes, general election and futile can kicking of their first terrible deal.

He didn’t put his name to it and in another letter said it didn’t come from him. He is the PM.

Anyway, I didn’t say he had broken the law, I said he had shown two fingers to the law.

Lies like they all do,

Boris, Swinson, corbyn,

Once again you try and excuse Johnson’s constant lying by saying it’s ok because everyone else does it. Not on the scale that Johnsons does.

Oh come on, Boris is up there with Trump with his scale of bullish!t.

He said: "No Tory could ever support a border in the Irish Sea".

Boris supports a border in the Irish Sea.

Does this mean he's not a Tory? No, it's another lie.

They all do it

There's a difference between promising something and not delivering it or changing your mind over time, than blatant lies.

"There are no media here" whilst stood in front of press, TV cameras, photographers and his own media officer is my favourite, that's Iraqi Information Minister standard of lying. All to a man upset about his seriously ill daughter.

The bus lie is another classic, if you have lie make sure it's big one.

"It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying."

The bus lie ffs. Give it up, it wasn't a promise, it wasn't a pledge, it was a slogan giving an example of what we could be funding instead of sending money to the EU.

And guess what - we haven't left yet and we're still paying in, so if you really want to criticise for that then you need to at least wait and see whether we give extra money to the NHS once it's actually available!

And it was a misleading slogan, wilfully and disingenuously blurring gross and net figures. Just ask the head of the UK Statistics Authority.

Anyway happy Brexit day everyone, not quite the freedom charter that swivels portrayed and likely the beginning of the end of the union.

No doubt we’ll be here this time next year yet again on the brink of no deal and more political and economic uncertainty as the transition period runs out. Perhaps some of the more self-aware Brexiter sheep will be questioning their masters why Brexit isn’t done yet.

Jesus... What is it with some people. Don't you get it??

If we leave the EU we will be poorer. All reputable economists and research institutes say so. Common sense says so. Even the Government says so... although Javid yesterday in Parliament refused to quantify the hit to the economy when we leave. Trust me it will not be a small number.

If the country is poorer the Government will have less to spend on the NHS , on welfare , on defence etc etc. The amount that the country will save on EU contributions will be chicken feed in comparison.

If you want to, argue for Brexit on sovereignty grounds or other reasons ... but don't defend the £350 million on the side of the bus claptrap.

Quite. It's generally agreed by both sides that the country will be economically worse off after Brexit. The pro-Brexit argument is that it's worth the hit, just to be self governing again.

Unbelievably there was somebody on here arguing that the working class population will be better off with Brexit. (Scally?) Anyone who believes that the wealthier population will take the brunt of a poorer economy is kidding themselves. That never happens. If business suffers, brances close, people are laid off. Lack of expansion and not being attractive to foreign business means that fewer working class jobs will be created. It will be a hard time for the man on the street.

Choosing Brexit is a valid and reasonable choice for many people, but it makes me uneasy when the decision is based on a complete lack of understanding about what it will mean. Everybody will take some kind of financial hit, but it won't be the wealthy getting the worst of it.

Stephen Barclay, the Brexit Secretary, to the House of Lords committee; "Exit forms will not be necessary for goods leaving Northern Ireland for the mainland". Ten minutes later, "The exit summary declarations will be required in terms of NI to GB."

And they want to force the bill through Parliament in only 3 days.

As opposed to Johnson who's winging it and doesn't even know what's in his own deal? Which is far more disturbing.

Oh absolutely, but there is such an opportunity for a Labour party at the moment, and it's disgraceful that there is no decent alternative on the opposing benches - it's almost criminal what Momentum have done.

We're used to it from Bojo.

Boris Johnson withdrawing his bill and pushing for an election - effectively going on strike, is the political equivalent of taking his ball home because he wants to play 2 on 2 but the majority want to play World Cup Willies.

That’s ok, all other parties want him gone ASAP.

Will be a breeze for PM Swinson to take the lead!

It sure will. If that happens bye bye Brexit.

There were never enough unicorns in the world for Brexit to be viable or to keep Brexiteers happy. A daft idea which will hopefully be consigned to the scrap heap.

I would be careful about using phrases like willies in connection with Johnson. His allegedly gets plenty of use and is uncontrollable.

It is bonkers.

The Tories waste three and a half years with three PM changes, cabinet reshuffles, a general election, perpetual can-kicking of a useless deal, closing down Parliament and pointless queen's speech - NOW it is so urgent they need to bulldoze it through the house in a few days.

That's about the top and bottom of it, yeah. Just so Boris can "get the job done" by Oct 31st as he pledged to do. He doesn't know or care what the deal is, but that doesn't matter as long as he bulldozes it through.
