So May's "substantial change" to get around the Speaker's ruling on a third vote is to take the Political Declaration out of the document being voted on.

Isn't that a bit like trying to get a mate to go to Fratton Park with you and then dropping the option of having dinner at the local Harvester afterwards to try and convince him its a good idea?

I doubt it, as this is still the bit with the NI 'backstop''.

And the DUP have already said they won't support it - unsurprisingly.

What was the margin of defeat last time round?

I know there's been a few high-profile u-turns from the vultures in the ERG (although Boris has turned about so many times now he must be dizzy), but will that be enough still? Would still need a number of Labour MPs to vote in favour or abstain, so it still looks unlikely.

After nuclear Armageddon, the only survivors will be insects and Boris's Tory leadership ambitions.

When put like this, May's attempt to separate them in order to bypass Bercow's ruling seems like a desperate last throw of the dice.

She's probably still thinking if she could just have a few more votes on her deal, eventually she'll win one of them and if not for Bercow's ruling, that's probably what she would have done.

Wes Tender will no doubt be ****ing off into a picture of Rees-Mogg wondering what might have been.

With the rest of the smug remoaner elite, I'm off to a concert tonight in Smith Square - Beethoven's Ninth, surprisingly.

It should easily be loud enough to be heard in Mogg Towers just round the corner...

The irony is that if we now leave with a no del, the Eu will demand before we start any trade talks that the 39b and the backstop are agreed before they do. They have held all the aces all along.

Whilst in princilpe I understand the remainers fears of staying in, they certainly have done themselvs and our nation in big time.

The footfall and traffic through my business had gone through the floor, were not even getting the timewasting ice cream lickers!!!

Yes, you read that right. The leader of a supposedly credible political party, who recently appointed a convicted violent criminal as his special advisor, spreading outright untruths (he obviously missed the recent news report about Boris' water cannons being sold for scrap after the govt refused to allow their use) and pre-blaming the police for any violence that might* occur in London today.

Who was it on here who was saying there would be a massive resurgence of support for UKIP if Brexit was cancelled and there was a GE? With this massive bellend in charge they have essentially just become the new BNP. A pointless, single-issue fringe party with about as much charm as a rabid dog.

* - by "might", I mean "quite obviously, definitely will".

Don’t worry Les withdrew his support for UKIP due to its further lurch to the right and is getting fully behind the new Brexit party - you know the party whose leader recently resigned for sending and retweeting racist messages.

Do you think the thick f_u_ck meant 'aggravate' rather than 'aggregate'? Unless he is trying to suggest the police are going to combine everyone present into a large giant???

Oh undoubtedly.

Meanwhile, Dominic Raab, who previously stated that May's deal would be worse than staying in the EU, is now backing the WA motion today because "It's better than staying in the EU".

So you've changed your mind eh Dom? Interesting.

That's twice, cos the thick **** negotiated the deal in the first place.

This has to go back to the public now. Has to. It's ridiculous.

If Parliament can keep changing their minds but still can't come up with an acceptable way forward, there is simply no justification for continuing to stick with the "We must respect the result of the referendum" line, given all the water that's passed under the bridge since then.

We're leaving in 13 days though.

The margin of defeat is getting lower each time if May can just get another four or five goes at getting the deal through the HoC she might finally get everyone to just give up and vote for it...[emoji1787]

Honestly though the whole thing is getting embarrassing now.

I think it's dead now...

Realistically, it was dead when it got defeated by a historical margin first time round, but May in her stubbornness managed to keep it on life support.

I seriously doubt there's any way it can be resuscitated now though. Today was her desperate last throw of the dice.

The indicative votes only didn't reach any consensus because the tory's still had an eye on the may deal. now that is gone, they have one chance to come together and show that the house can agree on something. If they can't, then you have two options;

1) take it out of the hands of the house and offer a specified Deal (prob customs union) vs Remain to the general public via referendum

2) change the house makeup by calling a general election.

Option 2, we could still end up with a split house who only vote for their parties and not the country's interest.

At least option 1 gives a clear way forward - either we would leave with the deal in principle spelled out (probably customs union), or we stay in.

And either way, May should GTFO asap, I've never seen such incompetence. As soon as Miller won her ruling that it needed to go through the house, and as soon as she f'ed up the snap GE, she should have been trying to find compromise, instead of just playing the ***** the whole time.

Holy ****, she is still going to stick at it!

"A No 10 source tells the Press Association the prime minister will continue to seek support in the Commons for her deal.

"Clearly it was not the result we wanted. But, that said, we have had a number of senior Conservative colleagues who have felt able to vote with the Government today. They have done so in higher numbers than previously," the source says.

"Clearly there is more work to do. We are at least going in the right direction.""

Perhaps she'll start by trying to get a majority to support page 1, and build from there.

The DUP (Nigel Dodds) have now come out in qualified support of remain.

"We will look at any option. At the end of the day why should we believe that it was right to vote Leave? When we were in the EU people were quite happy with that in N Ireland because we were there together with everybody else."

Christ, this is so weird.

There was an opinion poll in NI showing large majorities for remain amongst both loyalist and nationalists - keeping the border open is a big deal to both communities.

Lady I work with lives with the border pretty much at the bottom of her street in South Armagh, she lives in NI but her husband crosses the border everyday to go to work. He is not alone many folks in the North do this, This is a big deal for them.

Just as an aside, since the vote to leave was made and both the Euro and Dollar dropped like a stone, all through this shenanigans the pound has held steady against the Euro, even after today’s vote the pound hasn’t made like a lemming at the cliff edge.
