Come on stop arguing and let’s have some Xmas good will. It is the season to be jolly. Take a leaf out of the EU’s glorious leader’s book and get in the Xmas mood.

Here he is on Monday at an official function, being helped to his feet after getting sciatica again. He’s not arguing over blow jobs or racist language, he’s doing what he does best and spreading a bit of Xmas cheer. Hic...........

It's really simple, Shurlock. As I said already, it is ironic in the extreme that you like to dish it out with your juvenile and patronising insults, but don't like getting it back. In simple terms that you'll understand, you are the bully getting bullied. I have never seen you condemn anything abusive said to me, not even the disgusting stuff aimed at my family by the loathsome and juvenile Jeff, so who's the hypocrite? If I am, so are you.

Odious views = opinions that you don't hold.

So you still won’t do it

Let’s keep things simple Les. Has anybody threatened violence against you? Yes or no? I thought so - wind your neck in then.

I’ve been called everything under the sun (shatlock and the antisemetic undertones of Shylock for starters) - I couldn’t give two ****s. But if you don’t understand there’s a distinction between abuse and threats of violence, then you’re thicker than I thought.

Again I’m more than happy than live with it to put the usual idiots in their place; but do me one favour pal, don’t talk about having a monopoly on civility, scumbag.

I thought of all people on this forum you would have an isssue with someone saying they disliked a race or group of people?

I do have an issue with it, but after what has happened in the Middle East recently I also have an issue with some Arabs!

We both know that things can easily get out of hand on these sites and maybe we should all ease up a bit as it is Christmas?

As for your sad news GM, I am really sorry to hear that. Please accept my deepest condolences. We met several years ago before a match with the old Saintslist crowd. All the best to you.

You said Wes's wife was "noshing" their gardener, an occupation that generally occurs outdoors. Your moral compass appears different than most sane people.

Oh and it was unlikely to have been my "wife that's been taking it.." as she died of cancer three months ago.

I'm really sorry to hear that John, We've had our differences in the past but you have my heartfelt sympathy. I know from personal experience what you must be going through, especially at this time of the year.

I deliberately didn't respond to your question because I realised how riled it makes you failing to get a rise out of posters who you routinely insult. It's a form of entertainment for me, which I find mildly amusing.

But as SOG says, we on this forum ought to try and be a bit more civil towards each other at this time of year.

Peace on earth and goodwill towards all men (and women), even the remoaners.

Many thanks, Wes. My wife and yours both had a tough time with chemo and I am so glad at least yours had a better outcome. My children have been a great comfort to me, as have your kind words.

Perhaps, the experiences by some posters above should make us all think that this is a football forum for Saints fans, all of us are connected by that.

I had hoped UJ would have had the fibre to apologise but it seems too much for some.

To all Saints fans who are going through tough times and greif I send my best wishes....now back to the back stabbing

Read it and take what you want from it. It's a great poem and my interpretation, if you are able to read literature, not written by a Socialist author, is that by paying £35 billion to the EU under May's deal will not guarantee a Brexit, because the EU will continue to take from us and ".. the end of that game is oppression and shame, And the nation that plays it is lost!" You may not care whether the end of the game is the loss of our nation state and think that I am jingoistic, but the UK is not trying to build a new and expansive Victorian empire of the type that Kipling lived in. Germany and France, using the EU as a mechanism are trying to do that and we are helping to fund them. "Dane Geld"...

Luckily, Britain had King Alfred vs the Viking hordes. We have Queen Theresa and God help us...

Are you saying that the 'divorce bill', whether it be £35Bn or £39Bn, is extortion and blackmail, as DaneGeld would have been. I thought it was to cover the UK's financial commitments up to 2020, which, incidentally, will include the pensions and 'golden goodbyes' of all the MEPs - Nige is rumoured to be due £150K.

Where have I said my opinion is so 'correct'? I think a number of people have been duped, and a number of people have voted from a racist point of view. I also think a number of people have voted that way as they can see the £ signs popping up if they short the companies in our economy (see JRM). The point of an opinion is that it is exactly that - an opinion. You guys are here to prove otherwise, but the two most vocal on here fit into the 2 explanations above.

I hope you also tell those people they're up their own arse, although I doubt keyboard-warriors like yourself have the balls to do that. Also, what do you mean by 'metro elite'?

So you've added conspiratorial financial self-interest to your explanations of people having different views to you. I assume you got that one from being spoon-fed the JRM 'story' from the MSM.

The metro elite is characterised by yourself. Basically demonising those with alternative outlooks in the way you do (racist/brainwashed/greedy self-interest etc). The metro elite (I work with a lot), tend to live in a bubble, so it's easy for them to cook up these theories. The people they do know with different views will rarely make that known, because they can't be bothered with the condescension and viciousness it would likely endure.

You seem a bit of an arse when comes to politics but horrible to hear that news. Heart goes out to you, We can all have disagreements about Brexit and sh1t but some stuff matters so much more.

I'm assuming it's a family health issue. What if Brexit causes many more of these issues for other people?

Politics can affect everything.

I am struck, every time I drive to St. Mary's, the size of the container ships sailing in and out of Southampton. Dover? Give me a break. That tinpot port may be important to our trade with Northern France, but important to our international trade? Give me a break. If we shut Dover down tomorrow, it would only be a disaster to Calais, not the UK.

And, as announced earlier today, more proof that Project Fear is a crock:

Government awarded three contracts worth £107million for emergency ferries to transport critical goods such as food and medicines in the event of a no-deal Brexit The contracts with Brittany Ferries, DFDS and Seaborne freight would transport goods on routes in and out of Poole, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Immingham and Felixstowe.

Dover, the tinpot port...

Food and medicines are other important goods we rely on for our wellbeing.

There is the option to disperse the reliance on the Dover/Calais crossing by spreading movement of RO/RO goods through other suitably equipped UK ports )possibly along the east coast) but there would be challenges involved undertaking such reorganisation quickly and there would be additional cost implications caused by the change in logistic arrangements.

However summing up, I am surprised that a Govt Minister (ie Dominic Raub) had not been briefed on the importance of the Dover/Calais trade connection.

Quite worrying.

Now you can stop worrying. The government had it covered all along and Portsmouth will come to our aid. Play up Pompey....

So as CB Fry says we need emergency ferries even though project fear is a complete crock. And as Jonnyboy points out we’re handing out most of the money to European businesses. Never mind that the extra services are equivalent to only about 10% of the traffic that crosses the Dover Strait.

And cretins are celebrating this as good news?

I’m glad we are taking every precaution

Much like the subsidies we pay to merchant shipping in case we have to retake the falklands.... you just never know

No complaints about taking precautions, however incomplete or poorly designed they are (in this case, it seems that normal tendering processes have gone out of the window). But they are measures nonetheless that impose additional costs and would be unnecessary under most circumstances.

Radio 2 news announced these plans in the event of us "crashing out" of the EU without a deal. Here is a gilt-edged example of the bias of our national broadcaster. We would not be crashing out, we would be leaving without a deal on WTO terms. The referendum question didn't ask whether we wished to remain in the EU, or to crash out of it, as that would be bias towards remaining. So why do the BBC believe that they can describe it in such terms and not understand that it is blatant bias?

Not sure what your point is Les. There are more or less orderly ways to leave the EU. Reverting to the WTO terms without a transitional deal; uncertainty around bilateral agreements that underpin even the most bareboned trading relationships and ad hoc, necessarily imperfect preparations are pretty much the definition of crashing out pal.

As opposed to the language used by, say, the Telegraph or the Sun
