Get rid of this guy tout suite. People complain non stop about Target and JWP being Austin is completely devoid of any use to Saints. If QPR want him them gift wrap him and send him return to send[/quoteWhat a load of b o l l o ck s ! Play him as a striker in a proper formation and he will score goals and that is a fact!

Original Poster is a idiot... like people have said Austin is a target man. You are writing him off because we are playing a formation that clearly isn't making the most of what he brings to the table.... I bet you were all over the w--nk wipes whenhe scored at Old Trafford last season... Why? Because he actually was being played in the correctrole.

Not really relevant. It was from a free kick next to the corner flag.

You're a complete idiot. Austin is a superb finisher, we appear to be favouring a system that doesn't suit him at all.

Stupid the way our forwards are being used. Austin is a penalty box striker, Redmond is a wide player.

Redmond has actually looked miles better going inside from out wide on the break, because when the defence is settled he just goes sideways on the edge of the box. I can see why we're playing Long and Redmond like that, I can also see why it doesn't work as well as having a direct option that gives the defence something else to think about other than the bloody obvious low ball to the runners through the middle - the best that worked today was when it looked like a short pass and ended up being a through ball - if we're going to play like this we need more height to offer a different threat, and we need an actual number 10 to pull the strings because Tadić isn't it - though he's great on the left in a position that also doesn't exist in this formation.

Clueless*** there's a reason Austin and Long looked sh*t and that's CPs stubborn need to persist with a unaffective formation that won't work with our squad

Charlie Austin is a Box man and until he is used there you need a reality check. The diamond formation is not his forte unless he is the 1 at the front. He was actually defending again last night and did quite well but he is NOT a defender.I despair sometimes at the knee jerkers who write players off after less than 20 minutes of play. How many times did Tadic give the ball away last night? Send him packing is your solution eh?

ART is right though, but not in the way he meant. Charlie is no use to Saints while we have Puel as manager, so we might as well send him out on loan to a Champ side. Assuming Puel lasts the season we might as well at least get someone else to pay some of his wages so that we can maximise our profit. This doesn't mean Chas is no good, just that our system is no good for Chas.

I agree with this unless he fits CPs plans there is no point him being here?

Charlie Austin is a centre forward penalty box specialist so play him there. He'll score lots is played correctly. Also Redmond is a winger so play him there.

The manager needs to learn quickly because the premier league is a very unforgiving place.

It's not rocket science.

Perhaps one of those West Ham joint chairmen wasn't exactly wrong when he said that Austin wasn't the big bargain he appeared to be.

If so that will be some time yet and if we get to that stage we shall be deep in the doggy-dos by then. That is not something that I would wish for.

Given how uninspiring he seems, I'd give it til xmas.

Hope I'm wrong, because as you say, we will be in the brown sticky stuff

Seems to me a similar situation to Lambert who always needed a run of a few games to get up to speed before guaranteeing you at least 12-15 goals a season. Get him in the team and make him the focal point of our attack. Redmond is no Henry get him back on the wing.

We had plenty of chances last night and I thought looked good. Playing against a new Untd team that is defensively much better than last year, if long cuts in side rather than sending a pea roller to the keeper, Redmonds ball was better to Tadic at the far post and Tadic stayed on side we may of picked up a point. Classie was to blame for me as the second goal killed our momentum and give them the confidence. Ibra will score tons this season so that's not a bad result away from home, apart from the 2 goals I didn't think they were any better than us. It's the 2nd game of the season so no point in spinning out just yet. I do think Puel needs to change our formation through and play players in their preferred / correct position. Couple this with a CB (Yoshi has always worried me as cover) and hopefully a striker that's decent and we will be fine.

That's very true, now you mention it. Could we loan him out to the space station? NASA have shedloads of dosh.
