What Was The Stadium Like?

Some of the bits were good:

I was in Row 2, too low down but at least I could see the game... On the massive screen at the other end when the ball was in the other half.

Took some photos of the seats underneath our seats, weird. The upper tier was miles away, glad we were in the lower.

The view from the expensive seats at the side must be awful with that massive arc and huge green area. At least they went to the trouble of putting the seats in the bottom tier closer, so it wasn't just a really bad version of Withdean.

Atmosphere was awful. Concourse was small, food options non-existent if you didn't want a massive hotdog at the gate I went in. Stupid queues at half time.

The accessibility was absolutely b0ll0cks from Stratford station, and the absolutely pathetic insistence on routing people all the way around the shopping centre (where we'd spent a day and a half getting drunk already by then) was the least disabled friendly crowd control I've seen for some time, not to mention the bloody ridiculous trek for anyone else as well.

We were staying in an hotel within half a mile of the stadium and it took the best part of half an hour to walk it with all the closures and diversions, even allowing for the fact we walked straight through the cordon telling us to go the even longer way back.

Still, 3 points.

Went back via Hackney Wick - no problems whatsoever.

Sounds like something from pro evo - just like their tinpot new badge. The porn barons and Brady are doing everything they can to market and fatten up the club for prospective foreign overlords.

We stayed in the Travelodge there a couple of years ago and it was about that long to get to High Street from the pool, decided to stay next to Westfield "for convenience" this time and booked it before they even played a league game and all the diversion nonsense started.

Mind you, having been called a c'nt and asked if I was lost by some utter nobend a good two hours after the match having been for a meal when walking back to the station I can see why they don't want the neanderthals anywhere near the place.

I'm going there this week. Getting a tour.

I was in in the lower tier row 6 and the only way I could watch the first half when Saints were attacking the far end was on the big screen. The problem West Ham have is that a majority of their fans cling to the "jellied eels" and "knees up mother Brown" image of cheeky Cockney working class of the sixties. They have gone from their proleterian palace to the Versalles of stadia.(sans mirrors) They feel uncomfortable with posh. (and popcorn!!)
