I don't see Fonte at Liverpool myself. They already have Matip and Lovren, plus they recently signed Klavan and have Joe Gomez who is very promising. They would need to sell one of those to buy and older player with limited shelf-life. Don't see it myself.

Thats not good enough if you want to compete for the title tho but i dont see Liverpool coming for Fonte as well. In fact i dont see any big club coming for him, it just doesnt really make sense for them if you ask me.

Well, I would argue that any tit knows more about transfers than Andy ****ing Townsend. Even you. Just because he's an ex pro (and former Saint even though he is in denial about the latter) doesn't mean he knows how things are working with Fonte, things have changed a helluvalot in the 20 years or so since he retired. I wouldn't have made a point if you had quoted anyone else that I can think of by the way.

Jose Fonte will not be signing for Liverpool this January, according to Sky sources. We have been told there is no interest from the Reds in the Southampton centre-back and he is not a target.

After today's result, it wouldn't surprise me if Man City put an offer in for Fonte. He could at least help get John Stones organised, and City would be able to afford to give Fonte the contract he wants.

Don't forget he was also assistant manager at Blackburn when they were relegated from the Prem. With the rest of his 'pedigree' being assistant or caretaker at Sunderland, Birmingham, and Rotherham, and 'consultant' at Blackpool, I really don't see what he brings to the table.

Wasn't Kelvin meant to have had a player- liaison sort of role ? Even without that I can't believe the rumoured issues with Black have not been brought to the attention of the hierarchy (Reed at least).

The options are increasingly looking pretty thin on the ground for Jose. Be interesting if he doesn't get a move whether he'll be prepared to knuckle down and contribute to the remainder of the season. We will certainly need him with our lack of depth in that department.

Have heard, via the friend of an agent that Fonte was desperate to go. Wages not horrendous either. Looking for 2.5 years @ £70k p/w.
