Spin Master Reed

Batman

Recommended Posts

Here we go again. I suspect a nice video will be out tomorrow with him sat with a nice view of the training ground behind him in shot.

he will splurt out his spin about us controlling everything and all is planned as we want it etc.......and we will all lap it up.

Poch, he was comfortable with

same with clyne

same with Toby (remember when we shouted about taking legal action, ffs)

No bids for Shaw

No issue with Koeman and his new contract

Black with international pedigree

Best midfield options in the country, ffs

Now, he is saying the opposite to Fonte about new deals etc

per-lease

information Ali would be proud of his spin

You transcribed the following: "we have not rejected the idea of an additional year as such". Doesn't necessarily mean we offered him an extension.

The guy that's overseen us ascending from the depths of league one to becoming a stable premier league club in the Europa league despite selling numerous players and losing managers and remaining financially viable? Cool, just checking.

Some of my favs....

- Leicester have copied us

- break through the glass ceiling and into the champions league

- Everything is going very positively, Koeman leaves few days later

- when he compared the black box to "Bridge of the Starship Enterprise"

- Puel was top choice on "very impressive" Southampton shortlist

- "the next addition will be down in reception with the trophy cabinet.”

What he said in public wouldn't be labelled as spin if any of it ever actually happened. As others have pointed out he has unfortunately made significant statements in the past that have been followed by the opposite happening. I have no doubt he has the best of intentions of course but it doesn't reflect very well on him when it goes balls up. I'd prefer he kept his mouth shut unless he knew he was in complete control of the situation and quite clearly he talks about things he cannot control or influence to his satisfaction.

However, with that said, in this case I do not blame him for coming out and saying this. He's backed Fonte into a corner and if what he says is correct it's a fair thing to come out and say.

Lol, his press release for the Company (Southampton FC) should actually say: 6th is as high as we'll ever get, we have no innovative scouting methods, our manager was third choice on an average list, and all of our players and coaches would leave if offered better money elsewhere.

That would go down well with the fanbase

For goodness sake, give the man some credit! For a sports teacher from Wapping with no experience of top flight football his meteoric ascendency is the stuff of fairytales - he's an erstwhile working class hero! He has managed to galvanise a section of the SFC fanbase from league one standard happy clappers to Europa League standard fluffers, an incredible achievement in such a short timescale.

After what he has done for Southampton FC I hope Les Reed stays as long as possible. He has done far more good than bad and I just do not understand so called Saints fans hoping for the wheel to come off and the club to go t*ts up so you can all say "I told you so". Lets hope Les shows every again how well he is running the whole show and we maintain our progress. Is it rude to refer to the ones who keep getting egg on their face as omelettes?

I wonder where we would be if Nicola had stayed... interesting.

I was thinking this the other day - God forbid we get relegated again, but would be hard to get promoted if we kept selling every year. Best thing about Cortese was we held onto most players under him.

Completely agree with post. A the headlines that club would sell everyone when Cortese left were true. Les has been dishonest with fans I think. The minute Cortese was out the door the club changed and became a sell anything that moved club. I couldn't stand Cortese as a man but he did great things for saints. He got is up two divisions not reed. If Cortese had stayed we could have done a Leicester as he didn't sell. This board are taking us nowhere fast.

Hard to know. When Cortese was here we were in our early premier league years where teams didnt know too much about our players or have much interest. He was gone when we had repeated high finishes and our players were thrust into the limelight

Nonsense. He sold AoC as soon as Arsenal came calling and had lined up Lambert to go to West Ham. The whole 'Cortese didn't sell' stuff is a myth!

Ahhh, the Cult of Cortese devotees are out in force ignoring the debt he ran up and the fact he flogged AoC and was going to flog SRL to West Ham.

If he was such a fantastic CEO why isn't he involved in football now? Great at spunking other peoples money and getting brand specialists to give us a black and silver badge and mock up the developed ground but not that great that anyone else wants to employ him.

I'm no lover of Les, he's spouted to much bull for that, but the idea that Cortese would have allowed us to win the league as LCFC did is utter pony but since quite a lot on here are only slightly brighter than a turd I shouldn't be surprised.

Cortese knew fu ck all about football.

Which was probably his biggest asset. People that have been in the game for years think they know it all and will follow the same tired and predictable paths.

Nic was unconventional in his approach, didn't respect the football hierarchy like Les does and was a determined winner and wanted the same for us. He wasnt satisfied with making up the numbers and this eventually cost him his job.

Like iy or not Cortese has been the biggest influence on our success last 7 years and his vision and culture is still playing out (black box, academy)

Proven beyond doubt to be completely replaceable and subsequently and unsurprisingly unemployable in world football.

Granted he got lucky with one critical appointment, Les Reed, and it fell into place from there. He was a decent lower league chairman but collapsed like a souffle in the big league.

We were in league 2 with aoc. Lambert was because club wanted to sell not that he wanted to go. Different to others and we would have invested.

He left before we properly challenged to be fair, and our promotions happened so quickly that no-one had time to properly judge our players abilities.

(Although he did sell Chamberlain at the first opportunity, don't forget).

LR: "We picked Claude for a reason, and the main reason being his experience, because he has had a lot of experience in European football and that is where we hope to be heading on a regular basis". That European experience counted for **** all when it mattered

LR: "James Ward-Prowse has become a better player this season". Utter nonsense

I agree with LR on most of what he says about the transfer window, but what he has said about Puel is ridiculous

Trevor Sinclair speculating on Twitter that Fonte put in the request when he got wind of more sales in January.

Les got the journos in early to spin things in my view - they realised after Krueger's appearance on the pitch and the Social Media moves against Puel that they had to re-gain control of the fanbase.

Spin and more spin folks.

Speculating is all it is. Fonte was asking to leave last summer. Despite all the conspiracy theory's it seems clear to me Fonte wants to cash in on his euro winners medal in the twilight of his career ( and why not he only has a couple of seasons left in him anyway). If player sales upset him so much he would have ****ed off ages ago.

If 130 games as manager in European competition isn't experience... What is?
