Spurs v Saints build up

It's very similar to when they beat us at St Mary's, except we're a better team than Millwall. They camp their midfield deep in the opposition's half and spray passes from side to side until they find openings. If you let them do that, they'll destroy you. You really half to pen them back in their own half, which requires stiff, aggressive tackling from our midfielders on and in front of the halfway line throughout the game. That's something I've not really seen from our team this season. Romeu does it for 70 minutes until he tires as he gets little help in that department.

Harry Kane may have suffered a repeat of the ankle injury that kept him out for five Premier League games earlier this season, his Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino fears.

Certainly a massive boost. Still a very tough game though, let's not kid ourselves.

tbf what I have noticed is our results have been poorer against those teams with target men strikers- our losses since VVD injury has been to WHU (Carroll), Swansea (LLorente), United (IBRAHIMOVIC), whilst the Sunderland game had Defoe, who admittedly had poor service tbf to him, and Watford game was just poor defending all around anyway, but still... I'd back our defence to do better against Son than Kane.

Also involves Forster not screwing up anything.

Kane has been on fire recently. The 6-0 might give them confidence but we're far, far better than Millwall, and no Kane for Spurs is a massive plus for us. We're back in form, I can see us springing a surprise next week.

Lol 5 up hate to think what they be like if they "looked all that"

Edit 6 up

Ha ha I knew I'd regret saying that. Millwall were poor though.

Son is consistently very good and would be my pick of that team.

If we can keep them out we will create enough to score goals I'm sure.

Looking at the table it's mad to think by the time we take the field on Sunday we'll have 3 games in hand on many teams around us.

If West Brom lose to Arsenal we'll be 7 points behind with 3 games in hand, 8th is definitely achievable.

IF we can play as well as we did in the EFL we could win 4-3 without Kane harassing our rookie defence.

If we come away with a close defeat that will be a very good result. Spurs, even without Kane, are one of the best three teams in the league. They have lost the least games along with Chelsea and I think Man U?

Not exactly easy games in hand though Man U and Arsenal (even at home)

A defeat is never* a good result. Especially against ****ing Spurs.

* Unless it's the last game of the season and we just need to avoid a heavy defeat to finish as high as possible.

At least they are games where we know we need to concentrate and perform, rather than against teams where we might not focus quite as hard as we should.

I quite like the idea of playing Man Utd and Arsenal at home in the run in, all the pressure will be on them to get the points in their financial requirement to be in the Champions League, I think that will suit us especially as we should be fresh for the run in having had very few games in Feb and March.

United look set to go through in the Europa league so will have another two games to fit in mid-April. I'm hoping Man City go through against Monaco this week as Champs league quarter final is either side of our game against them.

It will be interesting to see if Caceras plays for the u23s again at Old Trafford tonight.

Prowsey is Lowsey. 2 reasonable EPL games against pathetic opposition and suddenly he is flourishing. Shame it's taken 6 years, 160 appearances and 6 goals to finally flourish.

Shame he can't tackle, head the ball, dribble with the ball, outrun a tortoise and score from 200 free kicks as he is a free kick specialist.

Haven't played at home in just over a month (mental schedule really), but I rate our chances with this one. Past 2 away games (3 if you count Wembley) we've put 4 (3- still bitter) goals in the net. Granted that it was Sunderland and Watford, but they were two physical(ish) teams against our more technical and small team. Same with Man Utd. I honestly don't think we need a lot of bruisers to win games. Our defense needs reinforcing and we all know that but our attack is absolutely on fire. And for those saying drop JWP, is there something wrong with you?? The turn and pass he pulled off to supply Tadic was amazing, and he's been amazing recently. Becoming a much more versatile player and it's great to see him finally flourishing. On the other side of things, Forster has been inexcusably shocking. I say drop him until he shows better signs. Also, I trust Stephens, but reckon Caceres deserves a shot.

Hassen

Cedric Yosh Caceres Bertrand

Romeu Davis

Prowsey Tadic Redmond

Gabbiadini

I dont really agree with this, however I always find it amusing when JWP is stood over a free kick and the commentators are using words like 'dangerous' or 'specialist' or 'beckham-esque'.

Not really justified on performances thus far.

JWP & 'quality delivery' would definitely make an appearance on buzzword bingo. The way I see it is that with Ward-Prowse in the team, we're guaranteed to nearly score from a free kick.

I don't know why we're having so many problems at the back, when according to this thread we have potentially world class centre backs Caceres, Carceres, Carcaras, Carecas and Cackers to choose from. :D

Made me laugh. More then it should:)

I have a under 18 ticket available for face value ( £18 ) - unsure if you're able to upgrade them. Give me a PM if you're interested.

You can't upgrade. I once tried to do the same with a senior ticket and was only allowed in because the steward was feeling charitable.

Not impressed with the Millwall performance. We are much better than them.I believe we will nick this one from the Spuds. We deserve a win up there as we usually get cheated by incompetent Refs/Linos. against the 'Big'? clubs.

Better than who? Millwall? Cos we certainly ain't better than Tottenham.

Adkins, Pochetino, Keoman, Puel, Hodgeson and Southgate.

Just some of the blokes who disagree with you, but hey, what do these clueless ****s know right?

Ignoring U21's (championship level football IMO), he's only ever had a consistent run of games under Puel.

Under Adkins, Poch & Koeman he's started the season in the first team and then gradually made his way to the bench, so I'd argue that actually they didn't rate him that highly. In fact he was never picked by Hodgson, so he couldn't have rated him that highly and that bloke is clueless.

If JWP was that highly rated a top 5 team would have already come in for him.

I'm not his biggest fan, but no one can deny that he has improved this season (well last couple of weeks). He is obviously a very good 'technical' player, who has the ability to keep the ball well (I can see why he would impress in training), however I think the problem that he faces is that no one is aware of his best position.

IMO, he is not strong enough (yet) to play in one of the 2 CM roles, not creative enough to play as a no10 and not quick enough to play on the wing. He does keep the ball well and have an alright set piece (not as good as some make out though).

He deserves his place in the team based on current form, however unless he 'bulks' up or starts getting more goals, I can see him eventually ending up in the championship in a couple of season.

This is such a myth. We already know that the big boys let clubs our size take players like Van Dijk and Mane, see if they prove themselves as consistent, high-level performers and then drop huge money to take them. Only rarely do they spend big on talent which needs developing for the first team - Stones and Martial are the only recent examples I can think of. Ward-Prowse isn't a consistent high-level performer yet so won't be attracting bids yet. He may or may not get there, but if you're a club with loads of money, why spend £15m on Ward-Prowse now when you can spend £25m in a year or three, and get him when you know he'll produce? That's what happened with Mane and looks likely to happen with Van Dijk and even Cedric.

(I should stress that I'm not comparing JWP's talent to that of Martial or Stones. I'm far from certain he will end up at a top club, I just don't think that a lack of publicised interest thus far proves very much)

I agree up to a point.

IMO he is harshly criticized because he has never lived up to the potential that he showed when he was young. We should just except that he's not going to be 'world class' and except him for what he is. Half the teams in the PL would happily take him, maybe not the big boys, but so what? That doesn't make him cr@p. That doesn't mean he's championship level ffs. He's a solid middle of the road PL midfielder and one of our own.

Weve now watched his rise from an 8 year old all the way into the England squad, I for one am happy for the lad.
