General election? June 8th?

So there were no lies and you're just making it up. Classic bitter remainer I guess.

Your contributions to this forum are pretty pathetic.

Posting silly little questions and then stupid follow-ups rather than actually offering any sort of evidence of thought is, basically, a pretty infantile way to carry on and evidence of a fairly limited ability to engage with issues meanginfully.

Wrong again Les

Read post 219 "Provide a link - for all I know it's a quote from comment is free or a batty columnist".

Show me where the paper -not bloggers on CIF or individual opinion pieces- the paper as a whole has decided to run a similarly provocative frontpage or campaign?

Last time you tried in vain to help out jamie, you had a near meltdown

Watch yourself, little kipper.

it was front page yesterday. Not today

still, that does not matter

OK, guardian is a stand up, impartial bit of journalistic genius that is a beacon of truth and fairness within the British Press

it is as rabid as the Mail, just a shame you can't see it in your echo chamber, pal

Did I say it was impartial?

So it's from comment is free, just as Shurlock suggested. Well done for confirming this though, I suppose.

that the paper felt it had a place on the very front page next to the headline article....it was obviously pulled for some reason and buried.

It was not far from 'what is the point in Gibraltar' bit of business

Just being reported that Corbyn and McDonald both refused to answer the question about ruling out a 2nd referendum on BREXIT should they win.

and that was NOT from the Daily Mail either

SNP'er stance -

The SNP’s Joan McAlpine described life in the UK as “hell on earth” and “eternal damnation in a bottomless pit

seems fair....

I guess that is one of those 'lies' we were warned about.

They have, which oddly enough coincided with their wage growth to the point where they now earn around 50% more compared to most other western countries, the second highest in the world after the US. Like most NHS privatisations we end up paying more for the same service.

You asked for a link to the article, I provided it. I made no comment on it, so you really shouldn't get your knickers in such a twist. As you say, the article was indeed written by some batty columnist and it received much derisory comment for the assertion that May's election call amounted to a coup. But as Ann Perkins has been a leader writer, lobby correspondent and feature writer for the Guardian since 1997, there is validity in quoting such published tosh when making a claim that it isn't only the right wing red tops who are capable of talking rubbish.

Just as a matter of interest, why do you nearly always edit your posts? Aren't you capable of ensuring that what you write is satisfactory before you hit the post button? Or is it because you realised that you missed out your trademark juvenile parting insult?

Thankfully not everyone is a Wes.

How's your World view going, Timmy? You know; the assertion that you made that we would go for a Norway style Brexit. Have you been giving any thought to which charity you will be donating the £50 bet to when it doesn't happen?

Corbyn seems to want to go it alone against the tories. He has had some victories when his own party has tried to oust him. Perhaps he thinks he's on a roll?

Perhaps he just wants to put his policies across and let the people decide, to have an honest election.

The election is all about giving May the wiggle room to deliver a Norway deal on exit dummy.

Feeling really unsure about it now, aren't you Timmy? The Norway deal isn't going to happen, so you do recall our bet of £50 don't you, or are you trying to wriggle out of it?

there is one calling a General Election undemocratic and nothing but a coup by Dictator May

but of course, it is the Guardian so you don't see a problem with that and certainly do not see they are just as biased/weird as the Mail

I read a few Guardian online articles. The general consensus amongst the commenters is that the paper is now Blairite at best. 95% of the articles are anti-Corbyn. And interestingly, the board of directors consist of ex-corporate business leaders, only one is actually a journalist. The BBC and Guardian are barely left wing at all. Only the Mirror are full on socialist.

May reiterated in her speech on Tuesday that we will have full control on borders. Might as well give him the 50 now.

Reading through this and the Post Brexit thread anyone would think that the pinkoes, lefties, snowflakes and libtards are pond life lower down the scale of social acceptability than kiddie fiddlers, and there was I heartened by reading an article in that oh so biased bastion of pinkoes, lefties, snowflakes and libtards ; The Guardian that the socio-political divisions within our society are far less than those at either extreme would have us believe.

Norway has control too. They control their borders, it just so happens they choose to let EU nationals in and the EU choose to give them access to the single market. Of course control is the important thing, theory is so much more important than practice.

From May's 12 point Brexit plan... " we will get control of the number of people coming to Britain from the EU."

The money will be donated to a charity of Timmy's choice, not to me. So some good will come from Timmy's lack of perception and understanding of how events would go post referendum. :D

....and we will use that control to independently agree to continue free movement, but only for an interim period you understand. Three years tops, or maybe five, no more than 10. Long grass?

Curious how that equates to controlling the numbers.

It doesn't, its sophistry. As Home Secretary May presided over the biggest rise in immigration in recent history, the majority from non EU countries which she had direct control over but did nothing.

Looks like that nice Mr Farage agrees with me about May's tactics

Mr Farage told the Standard: “It is a total deception. On the one hand we have the Daily Mail saying she is going to end free movement and sound more Ukip than Ukip. On the other hand, we have clear concessions being made. I even heard David Davis saying free movement could last years. It is all a massive con.”

Well with the jobs numbers as they are you can't slash immigration.

What you do have to do is stop the EU open door policy and have 5he same rules apply to them as does every where else in the world.

What they also have to do is sort out the infrastructures to he able to have the immigration the economy requires.

You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you can't fool all the people all the time. Good to see the saintly Nige now admitting it's all 'a massive con'.

The Tory manifesto will confirm no membership of the Internal market , no free movement of people, no ECJ influence over the uk and will pursue trade deals with the outside world . How on earth anyone can call that a "Norway deal" is beyond me. And I thought it was meant to be the Leave side that didn't understand the issues.

People seem to struggle understanding the concept of taking back control of immigration. Perhaps they're so institutionalised & brain washed by EU membership they've missed the point entirely. It will be the British parliaments job to determine numbers and the British people's job to mandate that. Whether that means more immigration or less is entirely down to Britain.

They'll be kippers dying in droves with heart attacks as future governments keep increasing immigration to keep the economy functioning. And Farage will still be gorging on the EU gravy train.

Exactly it's not about numbers. It's like tax - people don't really care if it's at zero or 90% as long as the British government have control over the rates. Personally I wouldn't mind waiting 15 years for a heart op as long as I know the government have the power to cut the wait if they wanted to.

Aah Tory manifesto promises. Set in stone they are. Take em to the bank you could. I liked that 2010 one where they promised to reduce immigration to tens of thousands, managed by that nice slip of a girl Theresa May. Honest eyes she had

Are those two stances mutually exclusive though?

On one hand there is the goal of ending free movement and on the other hand there is the acknowledgement that such a massive change in policy will obviously have to be transitionary.

Was anyone really bereft of the common sense that would have led them to believe otherwise...?

Pretty sure there was just the weeniest, teeniest inference through the campaign (and for years before) that controlling immigration would lead to a reduction. I might be wrong but there was a hint.

But turns out I'm wrong and all those dins in Grimsby and Boston and Clacton and down Shirley High Street weren't voting for any reduction after all. In fact I remember now all those TV vox pops on the streets of S****horpe and Sleaford where old dears outside the Co-op explicitly saying they were voting simply for the ethereal concept of governmental control and if that meant similar rates of immigration than so be it. After all, whats another Polish shop? I remember now that's what they said.

Personally I am heartened by this Daniel Hannan approved approach and delighted to see immigration managed almost identically to before.

The people of Rochester and Redcar will be dancing in the streets. Lots and lots more delicious foreigners coming in.

Love the fact that, on twitter, the Corbynistas are clinging on to the poll of 'This Morning' viewers that 53% of viewers would prefer Corbyn as Prime Minister.

This poll being much more accurate than anything Yougov could come up with.

Democracy is already in full swing in this election.

May is refusing to take questions during her orchestrated stand-ups, and Corbyn, during his, is employing party members to heckle journalists.

Meanwhile, Gerard Coyne, challenging arch-Corbynist Len McCluskey for the UNITE leadership and winning in early returns, has been suspended from his union post without explanation.

I'm going to stick my neck out and predict that, contrary to all the polls, the Tories won't win an overall majority...

You heard it here first (and probably last)

:)

the Polls...They will show Labour creeping closer to the Tory's as the weeks go by and many will get excited by it.

Labour cannot do any worse and the only way is up. But they will get a smack in the mouth at the Election and many leading Labour types will come out with the rubbish saying they will listen to the message being sent (despite the the same message being given for the last year or so)
