Yorkshire Saint

Recommended Posts

Something to lighten the mood.

Im getting married on the 8th of July and i have 13 tables.

The whole thing is top class but my wife to be has agreed i can name the tables after my ultimate Saints 11 + Manager + 1 Sub

Any thoughts:

Top table / Manager = McMenemy (Certainly not Puel)

1 = Shilton

2 = Clyne

3 = Bale

4 = Wanyama

5 = Monkou

6 = Van Dijk

7 = Letissier

8 = McCalliog

9 = Shearer

10 = Channon

11 = Paine

12 = Dia

Any thoughts ?

Surely there should be a Stokes table? Maybe not a great player but no other Saints has scored the winning goal in a major final (for us anyway).

Or to add class - CB Fry, as well as playing football for Saints and England also captained England at cricket, played rugby for the Barbarians and was joint holder of the world long-jump record.

He also a very good poster on here.

How about naming the tables after your favourite forum posters. Obviously the head table would be the Turkish table, then a mixture of current crop and good posters who don't bother anymore and you can see why

2 CB Fry

3 Franks Cousin

4 Wes ender

5 Hesingberg

6 Dull days

7. Smirking saint

8 kraken

9 Whelk

10 dune

11 verbal

Sub - Bridge too far

Manager Baj

Has to be Channon at number 8 and Bale at 10 for me.

Killer at number 5, possibly Golac at number 2 and Dennis at number 3

Dia at 12 I'd have big Ron in there?

Maybe it's an age thing, but I'm not liking Wanyama at 4. It's either Holmes or Williams for me. Actually, no, I'd go with the hyphenated Holmes-Williams table and fill that table with mid to late 40s / early 50s blokes and watch the debate !!

Agree on Wanyama. It's not an age thing, it's a Spurs thing ;)

Schneiderlin would be a better option than Wanyama. Played for us in 3 divisions and did much more for the club in that time.

I'd have a Guly table. Would be useful for those who want to get drunk and still drive home.

Create debate on every table by giving each table dual names (as suggested earlier by Vince, post 25: Holmes-Williams). You could then set the guests a test as to which of the 2 names you would actually choose:

For example (sorry if numbers offend!):

Manager: McMenemy-Bates

1. Shilton-Flowers

2. Clyne-Golac

3. Bale-Bridge

4. Wanyama-Williams

5. Monkou-Ruddock

6. Van Dijk-Wright

7. Keegan-LeTissier

8. Channon-McCalliog

9. Shearer-Davies

10. Wallace-Wallace (haha)

11. Paine-Stokes

12. Dia-Long

Whatever you choose, have a fantastic day the both of you.

I'd the wedding doesnt go well either bride or groom could always do a quick "6 years of a great journey ruined in one day" social media update.

Surely the table names should reflect loyalty. Thus the tables should be named after the players with the greatest loyalty to Saints.

1. Terry Paine

2. Mich Chanson

3. Nick Holmes

4. Matthew Le Tissier

5. Tommy Trainer

6. Jason Dodd

7. Bert Shelley

8. Eric Day

9. Samuel Meston (me neither)

10. Claus Lundkevam

11. John Sydenham

12. Arthur Dominy (likewise)

13, Manager Ted Bates.
