Other Premier League Transfers - Deadline Day

Yeah Watford are doing decent business this summer but for a fee more than we bought Lemina, albeit in a more specialist area perhaps, shows what good business we did. That said I think their signings of Hughes and Chalobah for a combined £10 million odd is superb business. I Can see Watford mid-table this season again.

Just had a look:

- Tom Cleverley (Everton)

- Will Hughes (Derby County)

- Daniel Bachmann (Stoke)

- Kiko Femenia (Alaves)

- Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea)

- Richarlison (Fluminense)

- Andre Gray (Burnley)

They've gone more English than usual. Potentially some decent signings there - It'll be very interesting to see how Marco Silva does this season.

Austin doesn't suit our style and has had more injuries than we have ST holders.

Long suits our style but needs about 30 chances before he gets one on target.

He scores goals, that suits our style. Gray managed 1 more goal than Austin last season despite playing 3 times as many games.

Those players all shout 'mid-lower table, but safe and dull' to me.

I think will Hughes and chalobah could both still make it, I was surprised to see Hughes in particular end up there.

Hughes, possibly. I just think that if he was that good, he'd have gone to a "big club" (sigh) before now. We'll see.

Cleverley though, is probably THE most boring footballer of all time ...

Barca back in for Couthino tonight....£85m plus £15m in add ons.

It's going to happen isn't it?

They don't have to sell. They have a choice. Maybe their objectives have changed. They were looking to be a Champions League club, I believe.

Breaking on TalkSport tonight, Danny Rose in The Sun saying he's not being paid what he's worth, quite a damning interview apparently. Few top clubs looking for a new left back at the moment!

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/4209426/tottenham-news-danny-rose-exclusive/

Comes across as a bit of a tw*t. Its this short career rubbish again - I've only got one big contract left in me. Why do these football players think that they are incapable of forging another career once they hang their boots up? Sure, they are unlikely to be paid as much as they get given now, but that's not really the point.

Normaphobia. It's quite common among professional footballers. It's an irrational fear of having to get a job and work for a living like normal people.

He signed a new 5 year deal in September... What a moron. Why do these players sign long term deals if they aren't happy with the terms of them?!

Being laid off for six months these days seems to mean that you spend a lot of time looking at your bank balance. Can't quite work out the point of going to the Sun.

Let's be clear, if that was a Bertrand interview the cretins on this forum, of which there are many, would be in absolute meltdown. Just imagine the tsunami of drivel.

Sounds like a come and get me plea to Man U from the player and his agent to me....

I hate the modern player. They're trying to sign players for the club now, why is that their job? Knuckle down, get back fit and start playing again. And all this crap about ''I've been injured for a while and it's let me reflect'' - go and do one, is this a new thing now? Use the clubs facilities to get fit but then plot your move away once they get you fit.

Whiny, sulky, multi-million pound **** heads.

Well then that was silly of them, unless they can squeeze a bit more out of Barca. Coutinho is a good player but they can get

as good for half of the price, just not from the PL.

It's probably not about the money though Liverpool still think of themselves and brand themselves as one of the European elite (despite the reality) selling their top players undermines that.

Hmmm... Weren't ITK-ers suggesting Bertrand was going to Spuds this summer?

Made no sense initially - to play second fiddle to Rose - but perhaps this knobhead's interview is about to have an unwelcome knock on effect for us...

I'm not sure Spurs can afford him they aren't big spenders and Ryan will be expensive. Rose is only (amazing how mad the PL is when I can say only) on 65k a week apparently. I imagine Bertie will want more than that.

Spurs lack of spending this summer does seem to point to them being a bit fiscally challenged with the new stadium build and having to use Wembley. I bet if they have to replace Rose it will be a young cheap, with potential, type of player.

Rose -

The England international has also urged Tottenham to spend money, but not on 'players you have to Google and say, 'Who's that?'

What a pr*ck.

So just throw some money at a big name and hope it works then, worked well for Spurs when they had all the Bale money. They should get rid of him with that attitude, Davies is pretty decent and I'm sure with some good scouting they could find someone who is better than Danny Rose.

He's certainly not as good as he seems to think he is.

Interestingly, some said that the problem Spurs would have is if they sell one player, then it might lead to many others going. Walker, he's gone. Gone from a reported £70k a week to £130k a week. He talks to his ex team mates, or they see what he is earning. They think that they are as good if not better than him, and want the same money. Rose goes to Levy and says so. Levy tells him to go away. Rose goes and cries to the Sun. Of course the last bit is pure speculation.

Yes, speculation, but entirely feasible.

Maybe Spurs are discovering that they are not as elite as they thought, and part of the food chain just like almost everyone.

And apparently, according to Danny Murphy, Rose agitating to move from Spurs (for an agitation it is) is wrong and very different from van Dijk, as Rose is challenging for the title with Spurs and van Dijk isn't with us. That may well be true, but obviously ignores SFC in this and the clubs desires and aspirations. It also confirms that the pundits and footballing (so called) cognoscenti are happy with and want to encourage a Big 6/7 and have everyone else as a makeweight, or feeder club. It is that aspect that I find so disappointing. Ooooooh we are going to have a competitive season this year because there are 6 maybe 7 teams fighting for 4 CL places. That is what football has become. 6 or 7 teams fighting for 4 CL places. Leicester winning it has been consigned to history now that normal service has thankfully be resumed. ****, it was consigned to history pretty soon into the season when the press crowed about the worst defence of a title, was licking its chops about the possibility of either winning the CL + relegation or more likely Champions one season and relegation the next.

We are all aware of the hierarchy in modern day football. It has always been so, and always will be. But I do find it strange that the pundits and commentators are happy for an ever increasing closed shop at the top. Do they really find it that interesting to have the same teams year after year up there? That teams like the 2 Manchester and Chelsea can just drop £200m each every year? TBH, while Spurs are a bunch of ****s, I grudgingly admire them for their transfer dealings. Sure they were like a dipsomaniac in a brewery when the Bale money came in, but since then, their transfer dealings have been pretty impressive. I guess now that if they finish 5th or lower, the press will focus on them and give them similar treatment to what we have had. You can't hope to carry on being successful if you don't spend millions. While I am rabbiting on, it is funny how the press were going on about how we couldn't carry on by selling all our players, but when it comes to us refusing to sell to van Dijk, there seems to be a complete change of attitude. Firstly it is inevitable. Secondly it is the right thing for him to do. Thirdly it would be brilliant for Liverpool. Fourthly it would be good for us, as we could get money in to reinvest in the team. Danny Murphy was banging on about the profit we would be turning and that we should be happy with that. He then trundled out some utter guff about how greedy we were if we had changed the indication from being happy to sell at £40m to now wanting £60m+. I sincerely hope Les was listening to that, as he is being a naughty boy.

SSN: WEST HAM INTERESTED IN CARVALHO

We understand West Ham are interested in signing William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon.

The midfielder wants to move to the Premier League and has a £40m release clause in his contract, which has three years left to run.

Carvalho has been linked in the past with Arsenal and Manchester United.

I don't know why WHU do this sort of thing. Is it to appease the fans with the self-aggrandisement?

Liverpool would be a better team overall for having VVD than Coutinho, given the other players they have.

Yep, those high scoring losses after leading (Bournemouth was one I think) certainly did them no good. As I've said before Coutinho is good but not irreplaceable, don't really know why they're tarting about, refusing far more than he's worth..

They could put Firminho in his role, buy a kickass striker and a CB who's far more solid that Matip and Viking Ragnar.

If you can be bothered' date=' go have a look at their thoughts about him on rawk. One guy went as far as saying better than Messi and Ronaldo pmsl[/quote']

Well then they have some seriously deluded people on that site. Mind you it's the school holidays, most of them are probably about 5.

To be fair there are a disproportionate number of helmets on this site too. Many of the posters comments make me cringe and look like they've been written by a 5 year old spoilt brat.

That is Internet forums for you.....not representative of real life and inhabited by strange creatures (me included!).

Liverpool come alive with him in the side. He has turned many games for them and if he had been fully fit against us in the EFL they would have beaten us.

Put him a proper footballing side like Barcelona and see him play, you will then see a £100m footballer. Playing alongside Henderson, Firminho, and Origi is like putting Frank Sinatra in a band led by Darius

But he wasn't and they didn't now did they.

Anyway if you say so, I don't watch him every week but obviously some of you do. For me, he's an abstract quantity who often doesn't have what it takes when it's really needed. The sum on offer (by all accounts) is ridiculous and they should snap it up.

nobody is worth that much I agree, but he is a fantastic player who makes a massive difference to their side. It would be all the more delicious if he went, as it would undermine Klopp, and his plans

Anyway, with or without Coutinho I'd expect Liverpool to come a serious cropper this season. They've not strengthened in any way at all, just added more of the same. They've signed Solanke and Salah t'is true but they need defenders and a proper firkin keeper.
It would be lovely to see Klopp fail with his touchline antics. His true personality comes out when things are going wrong, not the fun man he tries to portray. While they play the high energy pressing game, they run out of energy at around Xmas time. They are a good team to watch when it clicks, but I agree they have hardly added much to their team.

That would be the first player WHU signed this summer I'd have wanted saints to try and sign.

I'm a big fan of Carvalho. I think their business is much improved this season.

Never can tell, it's a roll of the dice, but I think they'll be good this year.
