Please sell Dusan Tadic to Liverpool

Quite a few sites linking Tadic to Liverpool for around £12 million and I'd be very happy to see him go.

Though he can have an occasional barnstorming game I don't like the cut of his jib. He's the sort of player I begrudgingly accepted we'd sign when we came back up to the Prem. A sulky, petulant, skillful, diving, pouting, roll around on the ground, imaginary card waving East European that can't score a penalty consistently. Would be happy to see him go and young Sims given more run outs.

I'd offer to drive Tadic up to Liverpool myself, but I couldn't stand being in a car with him as he seems the sort of bloke that would demand to play his awful taste in music but spend the entire journey staring into his phone or at the reflection of his tattoos in the wing mirror.

Dusan: збогом Ливерпул је на тај начин.

Tadic was not great last season. But under Puel non of our forward players excelled.

Im giving him a pass from last season as Puels tactics really didn't work to his strengths (anyones strengths)

Under the right management Tadic will come good, like he did under Koeman

I don't believe the release clause story.

Nor do I.

Why would Saints offer a player a new 4 year contract last summer with a release clause similar to the price we got him for?

I doubt Saints have set fee release clauses in any of their contracts and defineltely not as tiny as £13m for an established Premier League player. Removes any transfer negotiating possibility.

In 2017 £13m is the cost of an attacking player who has a decent season in the Championship.... not the cost of a player who since arriving in England in 2014 is the 4th highest assist maker in the Premier League.

unless we're banking on boufal coming good and not planning on signing a younger playmaking forward, a sigurdsson and the moroccan fellow whose name surprisingly escapes me as i have been dreaming about us signing him for two seasons, i wouldnt be against selling tadic for obviously more than the 13m being brandied about. 15-20m seems reasonable for a player with good ability but who is not as good as he thinks he is. obviously less natural talent than boufal but better at playmaking than him, but extremely inconsistant, i mean he has games where he cant complete a five yard pass, he's missed clear cut chances more times than i can recall and he's been invisible in many many games since he's been here. we do need an upgrade on him IMO, we'll sell if we got someone lined up.

No way is he good enough for Liverpool, despite what we want to believe he is not better than Lallana and he sure as hell isnt as good as Courtinhio. Would struggle to make the bench up there unless he is going to do the cheer leading by waving to the Kopp every few minutes.

With you on this, screw loyalty, when does a player show saints any loyalty.

Tradic is a sulky primadonna who has silky skills but barely uses them. He has added little this season apart from pretending regularly that he has been shot in the chest by a sawn off shotgun.

His attitude rubs me the wrong way sometimes particularly when he mouths off in the media when on international duty, and he does seem to go off the boil a little after strong starts to the season. Also, he's reportedly fallen out with the last two managers, which can't be a good sign of his temperament.

That being said, we'd be mental to let him go unless we're lining up a PL-proven creative set-up player with a comparable assists record, and I'm not sure that such a player exists who could be tempted to come here. Despite the negatives he's put in some outstanding and important performances in a Saints shirt. I'd be really disappointed to see him go.

Slagging off one our own players like this is quite disrespectful IMO. Anyways, 12 million is a joke for a proven PL player with his ability. Haven't had his best season but which attacker had a good season under Puel? Next year Tadic will be back to his best.

I quite like the way he plays - he has creative ideas that most of our midfielders don't have (or don't use).

Yes, he has off days and his off days tend to be more 'off' than most.

Also, wasn't he being linked with WHam?

I'd rather not sell him at all & hope the Liverpool link is a wind-up.

Must admit I find the term 'skilful' being used as a criticism very funny. Woe betide anyone not running around like a headless chicken who can actually use a football...

He's been a victim of the system this season. Whatever he personally thinks, he's better out wide than in the hole.

If we appoint a manager who wants to play with wide forwards we should definitely keep him.

He did spend a fair amount of time on the right.

I think you need to stop being so naive about this loyalty business.

I am amazed how many times our fans have a go at our own players...how can we moan our players show no loyalty, when some of our fan base show none to them?

I am amazed how many times our fans trot out this loyalty bôllôcks time and again.

Tadic cops by far the most flak from the hard-of-thinking sat behind me. Normally 'lazy c***' is thrown in amongst the mix. No matter how well he's playing or what he's contributing. When will our fans learn that you don't need four or five Richard Chaplows in midfield? Different roles, different strengths; different tools for the job.

Dusan was well below his normal standard last season, of that there can be no doubt. I'd quite happily never see him take another penalty. But pair him with a striker that can actually make the most of chances created and you're on to a winner. To replace him like-for-like would cost twice the figure quoted in the OP.

Perhaps it's just me but I'm struggling to see where his nationality or taste in culture (or 'culture' if you prefer) comes into it. The OP appears to be projecting a hatred of facets of modern football onto one player when we have multiple that indulge in exactly the same way. Odd.

I'm not Dusan's biggest fan, he does come across as petulant, but it's a bit harsh to wish one of our players away (let alone to that lot up north), who has done little wrong since he's been here. Granted he didn't have the best of season's last season, but he was an assist provider for a team that didn't have a natural goalscorer for much of the season. If he is sold, fair enough and I'm sure we'll bring someone else in, I do feel he's replaceable - but in a team with Gabbiadini up front he could be excellent, like he was with Pelle.

Idiotic, moronic, xenophobic post.

Good post

P.S. We shouldn't sell anybody to Liverpool, let alone one of our better attacking internationals. Moreover, I would absolutely love it if Liverpool were to be banned from signing anyone this summer (not that this is in any way likely to happen - but I can dream!)

It might or might not be idiotic/moronic, but it is far from xenophiobic and I wish people would actually understand what xenophobia and racism/racialism is before casting aspersions. I am presuming that you are referring to "A sulky, petulant, skillful, diving, pouting, roll around on the ground, imaginary card waving East European that can't score a penalty consistently."

Sulky and petulant - sure. Not all the time but too often last season.

Skillful - yup

Diving - can be known to do it.

Pouting - not so sure about this one.

Roll around on the ground - check

Imaginary card waving - check

Eastern European - check

Can't score a penalty consistently - check.

No xenophobia there what so ever.

But as for your post scriptum, I agree, as well as agreeing with others not wanting to sell him. I think he might be better used in his preferred position as well.

Omitted that they've done exactly the same from the moment he joined. Amusingly leading to multiple moments in his first couple of seasons where they were interrupted mid-moan by having to celebrate a goal.

OK - fair enough. My biggest gripe with Dusan is his reluctance to sometimes take a shot when it is clearly on for him, and other times does a weak shot when it would be better suited for someone else.

Put me in the camp that think Tadic has to stay. Yes, he had an off season, but the whole team had an off season. Tadic's stats are going to drop when you don't have players that finish.

I am trying to imagine how stale we would have looked last season without Tadic in the lineup. Boufal, while creative, is selfish with the ball; Tadic is always looking to distribute.

Davis and JWP are the only other players who look to distribute, but they don't have the imagination or creative bent that Tadic does.

If we let him go to another club, I reckon he would predictably have a stellar season and we would regret it tremendously.

Saw a bit of the game tonight. Tadic was involved a lot. He got a clear chance on the edge of the box from a pullback from the byline and completely missed his kick. Least it's not just for us that he does this kind of thing.

Going into the Wales game, Tadic had scored in 4 of Serbia's last 5 WC 2018 qualifying games - at least according to the commentators on my feed.

Silly to get rid of him let alone to them.

Always capable of a perfectly weighted pass, a killer feint and the assist stats speak for themselves. He missed out on having Pelle to turn his assists in to goals this year or his percentage would have been higher.
