Thread: Top of the league?

  1. #1

    Default Top of the league?

With the fixtures we've got, we could well be top of the league by September 10th. Of course, we wouldn't stay there, but it would be nice to it at the top of the Premier League for the first time.

Have we ever had 4 opening PL fixtures whiich looked easier than these?

    Swansea H
    West Ham H
    Hudddersfield A
    Watford H

Can't stand posts like this just before the season starts. Watch us lose and draw the majority of these games now and be in the relegation zone...

Let's have a bit of optimism to start the season.

I'll be disappointed if we concede a goal before October as we have such easy fixtures. Cakewalk

Corresponding fixtures we got 4 points if you sub huddersfield for burnley, who were a newly promoted team then.

No easy games and opening the season with 2 'winnable' home games adds a lot of pressure. I'd be happy with 7 points from that lot to be honest, delighted with 9.

I guarantee the fans of three of those clubs are saying something similar about an easy 3pts playing us...especially as we are at home.

It is certainly an opportunity, however it never seems to work like that for Saints, especially as we have never won a opening game at home in the Prem.

The season we got relegated I think we lost a lot of easy home games which gave us a mountain to climb by the time we sorted our **** out, so it can work both ways.

Bellend to you too. You certainly must be one of you believe anything posted on here will have any affect on a football result. And, no, we won't be bottom after those 4 games.

Huddersfield away isn't easy in the slightest. It's the one fixture I wanted to avoid early on.

2 points would be a great return from those four fixtures, but that won't be easy.

Bah humbug. There was life before the Premier League! We were top of the league in 1981/82 for several weeks. And it was in January/February, not at the start of the season. We did trail off rather badly at the end of that season and finished 7th. Two years later we finished runners up, although that was the result of a good late run and we never actually topped the table that season.

Fantastic to see this sort post before our season has even begun. How many times last season did I read 'We look like the only team capable of scoring' minutes before conceding a goal.

Bet it wasn't as many times as big Dave said "what saints don't want to do now is...." and we go and do exactly that !

Thought it was a silly thread at the time and it has proven to be so. Unlike you, I'm a fan of sfc so I'd like nothing better than us to be performing to our best but it was clear we weren't going to do that without some key signings.

The worrying thing is we look so ****e after such easy fixtures, ****ing up winnable home games early in the season saw us relegated last time.

Nothing wrong with the thread, the fixture list gave us a good opportunity to be around the top of the table early on but we have failed miserably.

You can still get 20/1 on us to get relegated....
