If travelling to Brighton on Sunday, remember....

....that BHAFC pay some of your travelling costs.

If travelling by train, with a valid match ticket, from Southampton you only need to purchase a ticket to Worthing Central. The rest of the return fare to Falmer via Brighton is paid for. Similarly if from London via Brighton or Lewes the fare has only to be bought to Haywards Heath. From the East the fare is paid for from Eastbourne. I would suggest you check Southern Rail website regarding engineering works etc. before you leave home.

Changing at Brighton station there are loads of pubs, cafes etc. around the station and North Laine (accessed via road that runs under the station taxi forecourt).

However, if you are driving, again remember, that parking around the stadium is non existent, but you may be lucky in finding some parking nearby for £15/car.

The best bet is the Albion Park and Ride schemes, where the parking and bus ride are free, with a valid match ticket. From Southampton the easiest to find is Mill Road which if you travel along the A27 to the A23 junction, the car park is situated on London Road/Mill Road adjacent to the BP garage. This also applies to those travelling down from London.

The other sites are Brighton University in Lewes Road and the Race Course at top of Elm Grove.

Also, feel free to ignore the scaremongering about the trains that certain vested interests are putting about - there's nothing listed on the Network Rail site for engineering works between Southampton and Brighton, only bus replacement at Lewes if coming from London.

I should think they're more than aware, it's been in place for the 6 years the stadium has been open and used to be mentioned on the back of the match tickets. Now they just have it on the website: https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/siteassets/pdfs/away-fan-guide-201718-full-july17---final.pdf (Page 5 of the pdf).

Cheers for that. It's a shame that I've other commitments as a few pints in the Marlborough and a Saturday night in Brighton is always fun.

It brings to mind the free bus travel in Southampton that was established as part of the planning permission for St.Mary's. How come that never got reinstated when we returned to the top division?

I don’t know about from Southampton but from Poole the train fare is the same to Worthing as to Falmer or Brighton

Last time we parked at Lewes station, hopped on the train to the ground, coming home squeezed sardine like into the train back to Lewes. Friends parked near the ground were still in the car park when we were 45 minutes un hindered drive down the road.

We went to Lewes before and after the game on our previous visit and it was far easier to get to and from the ground by train but not worth us bothering this time as no pubs open in Lewes until noon
