"It was nuts", exclaimed the dead ball specialist James Ward Prowse (23). "I had just curled a free kick just wide of the post when I turned around and it was all kicking off". "Tads, was squaring up to Reds, crazy stuff". An onlooker who refused to be named commented that the two Saints hotshots danced around for a bit backing off and sidestepping and eventually Redmond threw a punch but failed to land it, eventually losing his balance and falling over. Redmond then remonstrated angrily with Bertrand blaming him for the wayward swing.
