Fair enough, all sounds a bit convenient (without obviously knowing the person who said it, which would obviously add credibility). Hopefully not a case of mistaken identity then.

I know we own (or at least used to) a few properties in and around OV so it's not unfeasible that they would be around there.

I know him too, he actually text me at the time about it saying he'd just seen him. He's not one to make things up.

Alex Crook is saying that he doesn't want to come, so I think we can take that as confirmation that he'll be signing as long as the two clubs can do a deal.

I've had a sh*t day, but seeing Alex Crook pretending to have Russian contacts has cheered me up.

Could be a wind up but looks quite exciting

But there again, he is the chap that said this:

Hearing big reports that Balotelli has now passed his #Saintsfc medical. Some signing that is! #SaintsfcAaron King added,

@AaronFreelance

Balotelli's medical set to take place on January the second with Walcotts already done. Things are looking up on the south coast #saintsfc

Celtic need a keeper, We are looking at Dembele, that would be a deal if we could bring in a replacement. Somehow I think Fraser's contract would kybosh that thought.

What a very good idea. At some point we (and other premiership clubs) are going to have to bite the bullet like Man City have done in the past and pay a serious chunk of a players wages to get them out of here.

Oh and if Dembele is not thew man then lets get Tierney down here. He can play left back and centre back.

He has just posted on Insta a video with him and a new pair of boots... hate to be the bearer of bad news but I can confirm his hair was not red!

Channeling Ted Rogers here:

Hair and boots = furry boots = Aberdonian for "where abouts". Red is also the colour of Aberdeen. Aberdeen play at Pittodrie, gaelic for "hill of dung". Dung another word for ****, our midfield is ****, we play in red. OMG by the power of dusty bin!! He's signing for us!!!

Reedo must getting nervous. Without Promes (or similar) then its a very, very poor window, no question about that:

- Sold best player for a world record fee for a defender and didn't replace him despite numerous examples of being poor from crosses

-Suggesting the VVD money was up front (and would be reinvested), then saying it was in installments

- Sizeable number of puff articles suggesting interest in Tosun, Walcott, Benteke, Shaw, Sessegnon, Sturridge, Mawson and suggesting we would be very active in the window

- Only current signing is a squad player from another club who is a big risk for a big fee who quite possibly won't even be a nailed on starter

- Sitting on a whole lot of wedge whilst we have struggled to score more than a goal a game for 18 months and are in the relegation zone.

- A couple of other sides have added better players without a wedge of cash to spend

Spartak seem to have signed what could be a replacement -Sofiane Hanni - so lets hope he gets the job done in the end but for huge a big deal as this a breakthrough would be needed very soon and MP didnt seem upbeat earlier.

Tick tock, tick tock...

I'm assuming that social media platform is specifically for live posting rather than for any pre-recorded material?

Are you sure, could it be Hill of Don?

Saints have upped their bid to £25m, and offered a £3m salary (8news- who have an interview with Promes out soon...)

Sport Express claim we have offered a £3.2m salary to Promes, more than what Spartak are paying him.

I should think so. He isn't going to take a pay-cut to sign for us.

Why does it matter whether the VvD money was all up front or not......? Any Southampton incoming transfer will be structured just the same way.......

True. Do wonder whether it is gross or net salaries though; think the Russian tax rates are different to England's, which would obviously affect how much more it actually is...

According to my translation, the second article claims Saints are doing this deal via Promes’ agent, which must be a good sign that he’s on board with coming to Saints, if it is true. Promes getting a percentage of the transfer fee is probably helpful for his decision making as well.

Cheers! The joys of the Cyrillic alphabet means putting Проме* into Twitter/Google finds links from Russia.

No idea on the reliability of the papers, though.

This is true! - But I will take this as good news! Seriously running out of time so we have to see something significant happen to have any chance of getting this over the line.

PS - Betting Alex Crook's Russian contact will be phoning him shortly with news very similar to your articles :)

Personally I take the most hope from the fact that no other club seems to be mentioned in connection with him, apart from a couple of references to Liverpool looking at him a couple of years ago.

Even Jordy Clasie had other potential suitors before we signed him.

It does feel like it's us or he stays there and the story has been going for so long now it's hard to think he's going to stay now.

We're going to do well to co ck this up now.
