Basically make sure the base is sound. 300 mm thick of type 1 limestone well compacted is crucial to make sure it doesn't crackers or move substantially. have you also considered the drainage? what happens when it rains?

The tarmac needs to be a decent wearing course as.this looks good as a finished article. A 10mm stone mastic asphalt. They may offer a 20mm base which will be cheaper but both layers is best if more expensive.

When putting it in it'll probably be on the back of a pick up but should be covered to keep it warm. Also when they are putting it in it needs to be compacted well as well, either with a whacked plate which looks like they are hoovering it or a roller. Be wary if you smell diesel as they use this to stop boots and equipment sticking.

Don't know any contractors that may be able to do it I'm afraid. I'm more use to surfacing motorways

hope this helps.
