Sweden's Olympic Curling team

Bear with me, this is a tenuous Saints link.

Sara McManus is the vice-captain of the Swedish curling team. She is the wife of former Saint, Staurt McManus, who made a couple of appearances in the mid-80s, most notably starting against Liverpool.

Now, enjoy your weekend safe in the knowledge that you have a valid reason to google swedish women for trivia-based research.

Even more tenuous link.

Whilst McManus was an apprentice at Saints my cousin once met him whilst travelling to a home game on the top deck of a bus in Southampton.

Not so much tenuous as incorrect.

She is his 26 y.o daughter.

That's what I said.

No - jawillwill - that is not what you said!! You clearly said she was the WIFE of Steve McManaman, not his DAUGHTER. See, I have highlighted it above IN PINK AND underlined it for you and everyone else to see plain as day that you DID make an INCORRECT statement. Why do you have to be such a ti* about it and pretend you said something you didn't?

Just seen the snowboarding bronze medalist is from Southampton.

And didn't the BBC commentator keep on about it. He mentioned Southampton so many times, it made me think he must be from here too. When he said, "The whole of Southampton must be watching" I thought, probably not at this time. I doubt many people had even heard of Billy Morgan before today. But, it was a remarkable achievement in an event which requires incredible bravery, for a man who learned on the dry slope in Southampton.

Shame the coverage has been miniscule, I bet if everyone in Southampton knew he was going for a medal a lot of people would have made the effort to watch it !

To be fair South Today primed us Thursday I think.

I watched his first spin through the air and land on his bum then lost the battle with my eyelids

I've played amateur football in the same team as McManus.

I used to watch Saturday Afternoon wrestling with my dad when Mick McManus was the man to hate and he probably wrestled in Southampton on the odd occasion. Mick came from London like some Saints players have done. He might even have gone on holiday to Portugal where more than one Saints player has grown up. Tenuous Saints connection I know, but just as interesting.

The BBC coverage of these olympics has been shocking tbh. A real let down.

Don't worry though, your supporting socialism tax is going up to £150 soon

Update ... Staurt McManus wife and daughter won a curling gold medal !!

But as she is married to Joakim Sjölund , does this mean she is a bigamist? Is Staurt up for a bit of three-a-side?

I normally find with 3 blokes on each side it gets a bit cramped.
