Pellegrino Sacked - Official

Very dignified and an example of how it should be done. I don't wish him any ill will and hope he has a good future.

You had yer chance mate, now f*ck off.

I’d write a lovely statement to if I’d had a multi million pound pay off.

I really don't see the point of these club statements from the departing manager.

Like they are trying to say "we are all still friends" after sacking the man.

Seems to me that does more harm than good.

Don't get too melty you f*ckers, we did the same thing last year when a much better manager left

Why?

Didn't read what you wrote earlier. I'm throwing a name out there who is out of work at the moment and available. Realistically do I think we'll get him? No - but it's worth a phone call to his agent. Will I be outraged if we get Hughes ? No, would prefer Bilic but the fact the club have waited until 8 games left doesn't give us a lot of options. But why would you not consider getting the best option that might be available?

I really don't understand why people want Bilic. West Ham were a shambles under him

Glad he's gone but it's too little, too late. He should have been given the boot in November. Why wait until the record said 1 win in 17? 8 games (5 away from home) is not enough to save us. I think they probably see the appointment of Hughes as the right man to get us back up at the first attempt.

Exactly this. Ridiculous we left it so long, very difficult job for basically anyone and certainly anyone we are likely to be able to get in to keep us up now, would have been relatively straight forward with a window and a number of winnable home fixtures left. Now we're ****ed with a surfeit of aways and one "should win" home fixture left. I don't see Hughes as being the kind of positive character required to lift the place quickly enough to give us a chance in these circumstances. We'll see I guess.

Lets face it any manager available to us right now has probably been sacked and left a club in a shambles recently with the exception of Silva who was sacked for being a bit of a **** and a snake. Its not like we are going to have our pick of top managers right now.

Hughes is experienced, an ex player who has pretty much done it all, won’t take nonsense, used to red and white stripes, and is tactically miles ahead of mp. Okay, doesn’t quite get the blood racing but I would be much more confident of staying up if we can appoint him and he’s not scared off by Les’ demands.

Apparently the WHU fans are loving it on Twitter

Well I think when you have Moyes as your manager, fighting relegation, having had your beloved stadium sold from under you while being run by a couple of porn barons you have have the right to crow at other teams misfortune....

Am I the only one who thinks Hughes as a decent enough track record and will be far better for us that most of the likely names being mentioned over the past 3windows (with the exception of Touchel)?

And West Ham have become significantly less of shambles since he left in what way?

I'm only advocating him short term *****il the end of the season) but I think he'll put a rocket under the players more than Hughes would. But looks like it's going to be Hughes so we'll need to get behind him.

The one thing Bilic said he learned as his failing at WH was being too chummy with the players, and losing his "power" over them. You look at even senior players with many years under their belts at Man U managed by SAF, he commanded respect and fear regardless of the players own perceived "superstar" status.

Until this season West Ham were steady eddies top half club, having learned that lesson Bilic might be more effective in his next role.

Well farewell to the worst manager in our history. A lot of fans were calling for this in December : you know, the people who actually watch the games and know a little about football. The board could argue the loyalty card, but they have a poor track record there (Puel, Adkins), which makes it all the more baffling why they have taken this long to act. We are SFC. We are a Premiership club. We have many millions in the bank. I say approach Eddie Howe at some point in the future but we need to stay up at all costs (although our league one season with Ricky banging them in was more enjoyable that this seasons torture).
