Terrible 1st half. Much much better 2nd half

From the start it was obvious we tried to get the ball forward quicker

2nd half the quality started to show

Fair play to Wigan. Good footballing side and made a real game of it

Dire first half, up there with anything this season, really poor.

Second was good though, against tiring opposition who pushed forward.

Most PL sides would have battered us first half.

Still not sure that two strikers really helped us and certainly most PL sides would expose us through the middle.

Wembley though, good stuff!

We started off as a frightened Pellegrino team and finished as an attacking Hughes team.

This may be the turning point.

In the cup semi, fans giving it their all, 2 up front, 2 goals and most importantly we may have found our mojo again.

Brilliant. Long and Gabbi up front next game (assuming Charlie is injured).

Soares, Hojbjerg and Lamina poor in the first half. Credit to Hughes, good half time, these three had better second halves. Hojbjerg and Lamina still gave the ball away too much. The team were more direct, much less possession. The penalty miss was criminal, Gabbiadini looked like a rabbit in the headlights. His miss from the back pass looked like a player unprepared to receive the ball. Carillo didn't look that good against a Div one team. Long gave us more and won more.

The first half looked like a carry-over from Pellegrino.

Whatever Hughes said at half time, we started to see players who - for the first time in months - looked committed and unified.

The celebrations at the end looked like months of frustration had just been unloaded.

Jekyll and Hyde.

First half utterly horrible.

2nd so much more composed.

Got to give Hughes credit for actually causing an effect with his ht team talk and reasonable tactical moves.

On the negative side, can we please have someone on penalties able to confidently place it right in the corner. Don’t care how hard gabbi hit it bbc it was a perfect height for a goalkeeper.

Ohh and Carrillo is still garbage. Long was much better in his cameo imo.

Well,what a different second half.

Great subs at the right time.

Long did exactly what I hated when he played for the opposition.

BBC bias willing Wigan to win was embarrassing.

Carrillo is terrible...at the moment.

Shed loads to improve on....but that result and second half display should lift the players, club and fans.

Well done Hughes....very refreshing.

Hughes has got a lot to do to undo All the damage MoPe has inflicted.1st half was shocking.2nd half improved but still very poor for periods We really need to improve our fitness so slow to close down.Hom many times did they run half the pitch unopposed?Gutted for Gabbi. Be great to have Charlie back for the run in.Good to see Sparky make changes that weren't all in last 2 mins.Next game please bring JWP back in for Tadic.Fans sounded great especially considering the utter dross dished up at times .

Second half so much better and the win is a great platform to take to West Ham. I've nearly seen enough of Carillo and I thought Tadic was lucky not to be subbed, he was poor again. Despite the two misses, Gabbiadini made many good runs into dangerous areas. Hoedt and Stephens looked a it wobbly - our lack of depth at CB is a worry. Good to see Hughes on the field and congratulating players - why Pellegrino was kept so long will always be a mystery.

Big difference between the first and second half was that Wigan tired. Their intensity was unsustainable and needed to take their chances in the first half.

It wasn't pretty, but a win's a win and a step in the right direction.

Acheived with just nine players, too, as Carrillo and Tadic are total passengers.

Hopefully Cedric finally getting his first goal out the way will discourage him from desperately whacking the ball into the stands from 40 yards once per game.

Shame Gabbiadini couldn't register, but he put himself in good positions and at least looked like he was trying.

That Brighton keeper is one to watch in the future - only 22, an England u21 international.
