It's basically a different sport. No problem at all with it but it's a bit cringe when they have the men's and womens football captains together in adverts as if they are in some way comparable.

 

depends what the purpose of the advert is.

 

if the purpose is to inspire people to participate for public health reasons it makes sense to do this appeal to as many people as possible. female olympians are competing in a second class competition but they'll still get plenty of commercial opportunities to sell products to women.

 

if the purpose is to showcase the best entertainment or the best the sort has to offer on merit, then yeah there's just no case at all for giving womens football any exposure.

The cringiest moment for me was when they played at Wembley, didn't open the upper tier, basically gave away most of the tickets, half of them didn't turn up and claimed they had "sold out Wembley," because all available tickets had been sold.
