Is is that what the argument with Ralph was about? Has Hughes been told not to pick players that we are trying to sell?

And who do you think we would sell, not one single player on are team attracted any interest at all but JWP, but the poor whipping boy cant get a game any way and the two who play ahead of him are still yet to create a single decent chance at goal LOL...……. 7 apps 0 assists 0 goals between them too.

But it is ok, Cause they can dribble at least LOL

Yoshida and Gabbiadini would be of interest to a number of foreign clubs.

JWP is **** mate.

He may be **** at dribbling and running, but his end product is a trillion miles better than Redmonds. 43 apps 0 assists and goals and counting for Mr un droppable Redmond, Moi 7 apps 0 assists 0 goals 630 mins played 0 clear cut chances 0 for both of them this season.

JWP 5 clear cut chances ( 2nd most on the team ) 98 mins played this season. lets include last season too 1623mins 37 clear cut chances made 9 assists 3 goals in the league ( 2 goals in cups plus 5 more assists 7 apps ) ...…. Can clearly see who is **** mate. and sorry to say, but it is no JWP,

its Redmond.

But its ok, cause Redmond can run and dribble and do nothing else even worth mentioning but yelling at his team mates LOL.

No one even enquired about Yoshi and Gabbie btw.

Amazing how we stuck with Redmond all last season and seem like we are sticking with him this season, Yet he is the only out field player to not assist a goal or score one or even create a clear cut chance for any one else to score from. But JWP is **** and the only thing he trails Redmond by is dribbling and running speed...

yet the ball can cover more ground faster than any one can run. amazing.

well I recall him creating a few chances this season, but as usual with us we don't stick the ball in the net. I like JWP ( not quite your love) but he just doesn't seem to hold his place in the team when he got a chance. You must admit that his pace is a major problem, also he is not dventurous in his passing. I dearly want him to do well, but until he starts to play incisive passes he will always be a bench player

It was right to give Hughes a chance after he kept us up. I never thought he was the right long-term solution (not trying to be a smart-arse) - I said to myself give him 10 games and we'll know what we've got. Well we know after 7. This guy is clueless. I didn't get to see the game but the result was entirely predictable. Hughes was a striker and he knows nothing about putting a defence together. Our defence is a shambles. How can he put Hoedt ahead of Yoshida? Bertrand has lost all his confidence and bite after losing his England place. You build a team from the back.

Time for a re-think and a re-build.

I don't love JWP, far from it, but I know what I see when he plays, and he creates chances, far far far far far more chances than Redmond does. facts are facts, how many chances you think we have missed from a JWP ball? or even scored form a JWP corner free kick and just a normal pass or cross in open play? far far more than Redmond does dribbles mate. am sorry to say it, but Redmond for all his running and dribbling skills, is poor at every thing else, rather have JWP play, least he can cross the ball and take corners and even put the ball on a plate for are forward players to miss.....

Listen to saints fc podcast after the Everton game and see how much they talk abut JWP and how good he was that day and how he was the most dangerous player on the pitch and how they felt he should be playing net game. then check what pundits and stuff say, then check the stats, then watch the chances he makes, then watch Redmond. JWP is a far more dangerous player. Rather JWP sweinging in a cross than Redmond, Rather JWP swinging in a corner than Redmond, Rather JWP take a penalty than pretty much the full team, Rather JWP be putting in that free kicks.

last season we stuck with Redmond and JWP played most games from the bench / was always first to be subbed, yet finished with a higher seasons average rating than Redmond, Finished better pass ac than Redmond, better crossing stats, Better threw balls, better clear cut chances (these are chances that should have been put in the back of the net BTW ) more interceptions, more key passes ( These are passes that allow others to assist a goal, eg playing a long diagonal ball to Bertrand on the left wing who controls the ball brings it down and whips in a cross which either get scored of or missed )

Literally the only thing Redmond is better than JWP at is dribbling and he is not even that great at that seeing as he has one of the lowest dribble success rate in the league and one of the highest disposed number of every one in the league.

Well I was wrong. I predicted they would boss it 1st half but they didn't.

However, the result was predicted... the only silver lining is a few quid in my pocket.

I stand by what I said pre match.

I would be quite happy to go down - we could then have a proper clear out which includes Reed, and maybe find a young, thirsty, energetic, forward thinking manager who believes in attacking and scoring.

And yes, we had 6 shots on target but not a single one genuinely troubled their keeper.

The current set up is sterile, tired and out of ideas.

Over the 39 years I've been watching games I've never felt so disullusioned with the club.

And I' debated whether to renew my ST in the summer and I did - I'm regretting that right now because I know I've got a 2hr drive every home game to watch that shower of shiiite for the rest of the season.

Yeah i’m Definitely at the stage where relegation seems ok unless the next manager is a marked improvement over the current rotten incumbent. Clear out like Swansea sounds good.

At the moment, it’s hard to see another three teams worse than us. Long season yes, but we’ve pretty much carried on where we left off.

Horrible, horrible season ahead. Again. So much wrong with this club at the moment.

Cardiff and Huddersfield for two, I'd add Newcastle and Fulham along with Burnley.

When people think JWP is the answer [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji15][emoji533][emoji533]

I am not saying he is the answer, but its better than having the **** taken out of the club cause we cant even manage to put a corner into the box with out pundits and commentators ripping the **** out of the team.

they cross better in none league football for god sake. are you not ashamed of how bad we are at every thing but dribbling ( even though we are the worst in the league at that too )

JWP man be boring and crap at dribbling but least he gives us a final ball to score from, cant say the same for are other wide players who are yet to get a single assist or even make a clear cut chance or key pass in 7 EPL apps ( 6 for Moi ) . take of that as you want. but like in every thing, the most effective way is always the best way and JWP is far more effective than both Moi and Redmond so far and has had 550 mins less than both. that is god dam ****ing embarrassing m8 for Redmond and Moi that a player who has one 84 min game and 10 mins as a sub has created far more goal scoring chances than they have.

I reckon Sir alex would be playing JWP, he was never worried about lack of pace at his great united team, he was a keen admirer of effectiveness which can be read in his autobiography book, its the main thing he picked his teams on. poor out of form players sat out games, players who made things happen and who did the job properly played.

I don't think it matters who we stick out there at the moment. 4 wins in 32 league games (or something like that), the entire squad lacks leadership and confidence. When the going gets tough, this lot crumble very quickly. It's two years of negativity and backwards momentum that is hard to stop. Whilst players have to stand up and be counted, I'm leaning more towards shocking leadership in the club and poor recruitment being more responsible for our downfall than any individual manager or player.

No it wont, but why keep sticking with the same team game after game after game after game instead of giving other players a chance who when played ( not including a random sub here and there ) do the job better than the ones that start every game.

I see it like this, I have a mate at work, he f*cks every thing up but looks good while doing it, I also have this other mate who does the job brilliantly but looks boring and is slow but is hugely more effective at his role in his work place. Who would you pick?

I know who I would pick.

I think redmond looked decent today, as was PEH. Cedric Had 4 decent chances to put a dangerous cross in and wasted each one. The CB pairing look like they were wearing roller skates. Decent in possession without really threatening as usual.

Redmond played the full 90 mins of that game and also did nothing, JWP played just 10 mins in team that had given up after trying every thing they new of, had completely lost control fo the game and was being camped in its own half being out played by Brighton.

what is your point? you trying to suggest that had JWP played the full 90 mins he still would not have created a chance? had it not been for a worldie from HOJ and a penalty we would not have even scored a goal.

You possibly cant cause he has created more in his 98 mins of play time this season than both Redmond and Moi have put together?.

Are you his agent? Get over JWP, he is a myth. Redmond is the same but offers pace and will always get in the side over the “dead ball specialist” that is JWP. Offload him, just cos he came through the academy doesn’t make him suddenly the best player ever.

Yup, good to see us finally getting the recognition we deserve.

I said Puel was a world class manager, and I am being proven correct. I wish it wasn't the case, but we got rid of one of football's brilliant minds and inadvertently strengthened one of our rivals in the process. Now look at Leicester in comparison to us, scandalous really.

Lol. I was pro-Puel for most of that season, and even if I thought his sacking was right in the end, it was only because his job seemed untenable with the apparent unrest amongst the players. But "one of football's brilliant minds" your posts read like a p1sstake.

Writing is on the wall this year. We simply aren't good enough. A whole team of mediocrity and our only hope is that there will be three teams worse than us. Drama queen, bed wetter whatever. How and where the club is going I just don't know anymore. Silence is deafening.

I doubt Yoshida has been a c**t like Fonte. Manager doesn’t rate him, so he sits on the bench. No hidden drama or intrigue.

This is what I don't understand though. How can a manager with MH's experience possibly rate Hoedt higher than Yoshi? It's bewildering. I'm not saying MY is amazing, and I also don't believe Hoedt is quite as terrible as some people like to make out. But anybody who knows anything about football can see that Maya is a far better CB, as well as being a strong character with leadership qualities that we sorely lack right now.

There has to be something more to it than MH not rating him. He's by far the most experienced and accomplished CB at the club, but he can't get a place in a starting 11 that is leaking goals like a sieve leaking water. I think the fans deserve an explanation.

No need to get personal.

Jwp is no better than Redmond and is not the answer. He would be ineffective on the wing as has no pace and will naturally drag himself infield. It’s not hard for JWP to have more stats for set piece assists when he takes every single one of them when he is on the field, but people forget all the terrible crosses and set pieces he does before hand. Get over JWP, seriously. I’d have Redmond over him any day, and that in itself is depressing as Redmond is terrible.

To be honest they have both failed to progress .......Redmond has no end product and is a champoinship player . JWP has a great set piece delivery and .every manager has put him in different positions and still he has not cemented a first team place We really do have a **** poor squad with no creativity and so easy to beat ........Im happy to give Hughes time but surely its time to ring the changes and formation .

Before I start I'd like to say that Wolves are not a very good team. They beat us today because Hughes again made the wrong substitutions.Armstrong did nothing when he came on except give the ball away twice which led to both of their goals. We have a 6' 6" defender who is part of the zonal marking fiasco. We have strikers who cant strike and defenders who can't defend.Above all else we have a manager who doesn't manage. For 78 minutes of that game this afternoon I honestly thought a 1 -1 draw would justify the c rap we were watching then Armstrong arrives and its Goodnight Nurse. On this non performance next Saturday will see us exposed as a very mediocre lower PL quarter team. Hughes has to take responsibility for this mess or leave.

Agree with this. As well as the fact that Yoshida is quick, so whether he partners Vestergaard or Hoedt (because I'm not sure whether Vestergaard was any better than Hoedt today), he offers something complementary.

Just got back from the game, tired and deflated and can't be bothered to read the previous posts but my take on the game and Saints in general. First the positives , won't take long

Lemina and Hojberg played their socks off and did all they could to hold it together. Cedric had a decent game and no blame on McCarthy. Ings kept plugging away and kept coming deep to try and get the ball as no service from the wings. The rest ......

Defence a shambles, can there be a worse central defensive pairing than Hoedt and Vestergaard - apparently the tallest pairing in the Prem league but neither can head the ball , shocking in defence and no threat at all from set pieces. Both are so slow it is embarrassing, ponderous on the ball and always likely to misplace a pass. Bertie is a shadow of himself former self and really doesn't seem to care, no great credentials for a captain. Enough said, but cannot ever see a clean sheet if we stick with them.

Our wingers (?) did nothing, created nothing, threatened nothing. People constantly criticised Boufal last season but I would have him back in a shot in place of Redmond and Ely., why on earth did we let Sims go out on loan, at least he was positive and had a go.

Austin, my fridge is more mobile and can probably control the ball better. Pairing him with Ings was a great mistake....what has Gallagher got to do to even to make the bench.

Hughes...doesn't inspire at all, took an age to change what was clearly not working , when he did we went from bad to diabolically bad.

Cannot see how we can improve as there is really nobody in the wings that I can see making much of a difference. All that time and money we had over the preseason was wasted. The quality of the players we spent good money on was very poor. We lack pace, skill, creativity, steel and passion.....apart from that we are pretty poor , and sooooooooo boring to watch.

Enough ...I need a drink

When we finished 8th you mean?

When if other results had gone differently on the last day (when we were busy losing 1-0 at home to Stoke, without having a shot) we could have been about 13th?

When if we had scored that last second winner, instead of Man City, we'd have actually been closer to the team in 7th last season?

When we scored 3 goals from open play in 16 home games?

When the best result we managed against one of the bigger teams was desperately hanging on for two 0-0s against Liverpool?

When I had the day off for the Stoke game but was just so bored with the football I couldn't be bothered to go?

When we went out of an easy Europa League group playing for a 0-0 because we were too scared to try and beat Hapoel Be'er Sheva?

Yes, then.

I never said I disliked it more but it wasn't much better.

Results were mediocre at best and the football largely poor. I certainly don't remember seeing anything I would describe as miraculous, which is the original point I was responding to.

Fair point. Although looking at the goal Long scored against Liverpool it looks pretty miraculous compared to how we've played the last 15 months.

I don't think Hughes is entirely to blame. After the near miss last season we needed revolution not evolution - at least 10 of the players in the current squad should have been shipped out with a new spine and pace brought in. Sadly Les, Ralph and Ross have been found wanting in all areas. The finger of blame should pointing at them.

Ploddy was not even on the bench. Good times. Also Davis not used. Hughes has two pointless pieces of rubbish that he can't even use.

Thanks to amateur Reed he hasn't got Sims or a,n. other to choose from. Wolves did have a bench. Thanks Les Reed.

Wolves did have a strong bench and later in the game had 4-5 quality attacking players on the park; we seemed to lack any! It's the lack of quality in our side which is becoming most alarming. When Redmond appears to be your most dangerous player (and he hasn't had a bad season so far) you just know the Club has been stripped bare of talent.
