The non-stop player machine that is Aston Villa now confirm the signing of Marvelous Nakamba from Brugge.

Is that 14 players they've signed??

Is this a record?!

Still time to complete their entire match day squad (& 7 subs) before the window closes.

I honestly think that level of incoming is unsustainable. I think they are flirting with disaster here.

They haven't stopped yet either. Talk of a £35m bid in for Berradi from Serie A, and another £20m bid in for an attacker from Serie A.

All very excitng, but it's simply not going to work. Silly club.

Mike Ashley in further spending shocker!

Newcastle are “very close” to agreeing a fee with Nice for winger Allan Saint-Maximin, Sky Sports News have been told.

We are told the finer details of the fee being discussed in detail is £16.5m rising to £20m.

Burnley are about to replace Heaton with the signing of Northern Ireland's Bailey Peacock-Farrell from Leeds for £2.5m. Great value for money there if they charge a flat rate for names on the back of replica shirts...

I’m still not sure about BPF. He’s looked good most of the time he’s played for NI but there’s always a mistake in him. He’ll be swapping the Leeds bench for the Burnley one in any case.

yes. very good defender in the prem. Very good at the world cup.

VvD is better. Not many more are though

when our ceiling remains around £15m, nearly every signing is madness

£85m is desperation money given what Liverpool paid for VVD and he’s light years ahead of the one-paced Maguire. Inflation accounts for some of the difference but it doesn’t increase nearly as quickly for the top end of the market as it does for other parts of it, especially in a mere 18 months. United have been absolutely rinsed.

I find it weird that united (or anyone else) didnt snap up Alderweireld. He was available for £25m until tuesday (apparently).

I know he is 30 but a top defender

VvD is a Rolls Royce type defender, deserves to win Balloon Dor I reckon, completed solved Liverpool's defensive problems inspite of them still having lovren

Was he that good though? Or did his stock rise because he scored a couple of goals? He wasn't interesting ManU before then.

he was good. I dont think he in the same level as VvD. But this is the cost of buying within the prem plus 'man united' tax

Still you'd expect them to be used to it by now. Catastrophic transfer strategy, shîte manager and a non-football man doing the hiring and firing.

Desperation - absolutely. The world and their dog know that Utd are miles behind City/LFC and need to do some serious recruitment. So as such, they are going to have their pants pulled down on every signing they make.

Newcastle closer to new signings...

TOON CLOSE IN ON NEW WINGER

Allan Saint-Maximin has undergone his Newcastle medical this afternoon, Sky Sports News understands. We understand the club hope to announce the £16.5m (rising to £20m) signing this evening.

Newcastle are also in advanced talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over a loan deal for left-back Jetro Willems.

The 25-year-old Dutch international is a long-term target of the club, and the deal will include an option to buy the player permanently.

agreed. He is a little injury prone, but United have something like 7 CBs so not exactly short of cover should it be required. Maguire is massively overrated.

Over paid but hes still a very good defender and better than what they have got. He's massively dominant in the air, can bring the ball out of defence to start attacks (has a decent amount of assists for a centre back), has a good range of passing, scores goals and rarely makes mistakes either. (Same mistakes leading to goals as VVD last year at 1 IIRC).

Think people are doing him a disservice, it today's market he's probably easily a £50-60 million player.

Brighton to move for Maupay?

MAUPAY TO BRIGHTON LATEST

Negotiations understood to be ongoing for Neal Maupay to join Brighton from Brentford, according to Sky sources.

One source has indicated that talks are at an advanced stage. However, reports that he already done a medical with the Seagulls are not correct.

As things stand, the French striker remains a Brentford player.

Brighton sign Webster for £20m.

will Pompey get some sell on money??

No, but Ipswich will.

Why? He was rejected by us when he was young. As far as Ive read he never played for Ipswich

Webster played 51 games for Ipswich Town. Bristol City signed Webster from Ipswich so any sell on % goes to Ipswich not Portsmouth. Pompey will get a tiny amount for the FIFA solidarity payment for training him in their academy.

Who cares, we ain't got the player or getting the cash. Whether Pompey or Ipswich get a sell on makes no difference.
