Yoshida - Worst CB Performance Since?

Clearly CB is a huge weakness and clearly most players were awful - but for an experienced player he was so bad its untrue. Easily his worst game for us and he had some shockers a few years back.

It wasn't one or two mistakes from him, it was 90mins of absolutely woeful performance.

No strength, aggression, effort or leadership from a guy with over 200 PL apps for Saints, who should be one of the players to show pride for the club.

Instead he was shown up by Nathan Redmond, who is the one player who could justifyably stick two fingers up to our fans, yet showed the best attitude by a mile last night.

Yoshida seems like a great bloke, but that was up there with Davenport, Alan Bennett and Ollie Lancashire for ineptness.

Played like he knows his contract is up in June and there isn't another one on the horizon.

I think Yoshida is a player who has shown heart, leadership and has some character about him - which is what 90% of the rest lack.

The main problem with Yoshida is his ability, he's pretty rubbish if we're honest.

He went from being a pretty decentish backup CB for us to being one we call out for on a regular basis, that in it's self speaks volumes about the continuous downgrading of our squad.

The fact he's now our main CB shows how ****e we are and why we ship goals. He is very much a backup 3rd/4th choice CB, Koeman and Poch knew this - Puel even had him down as 3rd choice until Fonte's final month. I didn't know his contract was up in June, I'd say that is great news but it probably means more game time for the League One standard Jack Stephens.

He was awful. His mind seemed to be somewhere else. As the senior central defender he should have been organising the back line yet he was the one playing Pérez onside for their sixth. Ambling slowly upfield a couple of yards behind everybody else.

Then fo Vardy’s header for number seven he went to the near post instead of tracking his man. Danso stuck to his and you can see that he was in two minds who to cover when the cross came in way over Yoshida’s head.
