Mauricio Pellegrino Appreciation Thread

We know Saints won’t win on Saturday with this muppet so I would like to thank Mauricio Pellegrino all the best for the future when you resign or get the sack on Monday.

This was just not your time but I’m sure in the future you will find the right club.

There are similarities to Branfoot. A clueless approach to the game and regularly leaving your best players on the bench.

For me, partly true but I feel at least Branfoot had a system & a plan but I'm not sure Pellegrino does. Branfoot's plan was unpalatable, dour hoofball, which didn't suit our more talented players, but at least it was a plan.

He's like the lovechild of RedKrapp and Branfoot.

Most underwhelming appointment since the Dutch duo (who just shaded out Luggy).

Utterly hopeless, he couldn't find his own arse with both hands. I've seen animals learn quicker than this. If he was a baker he'd just keep kneading the dough and never put it on the oven just in case it gets burned.

Please for the love of Ronnie Corbett, please get rid and bring in someone who will fire up that oven and bring us some lovely lovely bread for all of us to enjoy!

This is very unfair to Branfoot, who is still one of worst Managers. In all games Branfoot had a winning record of 28.91%. Pelligrino has one of 22.2% for all games and 16% for premier games. At 16% Pelligrino has broken the record for the worst Premier/1st div winning % of any permanent Saints manager, worst than Wigley.

Feel a bit sorry for him to honest.

It’s not his fault he got the job with a bang average CV, it’s not his fault we have kept him in charge for so long even though it’s clear he’s not good enough, it’s not his fault the board failed to deliver numerous key targets.

He could have stepped down, but that would mean walking away from £m’s.... you can’t really blame him for that.

Mauricio. You seem like a nice fellow, and the people you work with or for seem to like you. You have truly handled a very difficult situation with dignity, but you also are probably getting paid millions for being bad at your job, so in fairness my sympathy for you has its limits.

The problem is, you’re not very good at managing football teams, Mauricio. You leave your best players on the bench, you’re too cautious and you seem to find tactics confusing. Perhaps consider a change in career, where you could be more of a success. Try teaching perhaps, but if the headmaster asks you to coach the school’s football team, please decline for the sake of the children, and their parents who will be bored silly watching their children play. Mum and dad will not appreciate having to deal with little Jimmy’s complaint about playing for a team that rarely wins, and sitting on the sideline while Ralph “the snail” Smith gets to play ahead of him, notwithstanding that little Ralphie gets nosebleeds if he runs for more than five seconds at a time.

On second thoughts Mauricio, consider a new career other than teaching.

There is an element of that with me too. I look at him barking out instructions or waving his arms around in a confused manner and think that he is clearly trying.

Shame he's utterly out of his depth.

Tactical Periodization is a methodology that trains soccer players through a logical process that focuses on four moments of the game.

These four moments are: Offensive Organisation, the Transition from Defence to Attack, Defensive Organisation, and the Transition from Attack to Defence. Through Tactical Periodization, the aim is to develop players to rapidly alter their on-field behaviours according to the tactical context of the match, and what actually unfolds in front of them. In turn, every training exercise focuses on at least one of the four moments, and always the coach's tactical game model of how he wants his team to play. In doing so, football players prepare and learn how best to conquer the often unpredictable matches that they encounter competitively.

This book is the English language translation of the acclaimed book Periodización Táctica by world-renowned coach and sports science specialist Xavier Tamarit.

Thanks to you we are going down faster than the General Belgrano...

I’ve been in South America and the Falklands in the last couple of weeks and I have seen some moving memorials in Ushuaia and Buenos Aires to those Argentinians who lost their lives in this conflict. Whatever the rights and wrongs we can feel sympathy for those who were thrust into the situation.

Watching him on SSN I felt genuinely sorry for him. It sounded as though he was about to have a breakdown. He seems like a genuinely nice guy and one would have thought he would know more about football than anyone on this forum but, like most on here, I don't understand a lot of his decisions or how he sets Saints up to play.

I really appreciate the fact that he has given me confidence to try to kick start my professional footballing career. I can see, that at the age of 45, with a dodgy back, portly figure and pace to give a snail a run for it's money, and if coached correctly, I could become a premier league professional. I see our players plod about, knowing I can keep up with them. I see them mis-placing the simplest pass, and Know that I have that in my locker too. I now know a £50k a week contract is within my grasp, so thank you.

Shame he benched Forster though - I really thought I could have been a top level keeper. This new chap is just a touch too sprightly.

I have zero sympathy for him. He's earning millions for a job in which he's completely out of his depth. Yes, one would've thought he would know more about football than anyone on this forum, but it appears he's as thick as a brick.

Ha! Great comment. He's probably making bread at home right now. He'll still have it in his hands on Saturday. The dip****.

I hope you lot are proud of yourselves. It is just a shame that you dont have people telling you on a daily basis just what crap human beings you are and how rubbish at your jobs you are. We really do have some of the most classless supporters in the Premiership.

Stop being such a pompous fool.

This guy is the worst manager we have had for a long time. It is obvious to everyone. Results this season have been pathetic.

If that's not something to whinge about on a football messageboard then what is the point?

WTF are you going on about? So we're all supposed to sit tight lipped and not post any opinions on the fact we have the most useless excuse for a manager conceivable who is taking the club we all love down the ****ter because it might upset him?

He hasn’t won in 12 consecutive PL games.

He does seem like a decent sort of fellow, though.
