I get the impression that you think your club might be a wee bit fu cked.

It certainly looks on iffy ground as an outsider looking in.

I noticed on a thread we were supposed to have made a tenner bet that Blackpool would finish above us.I do not remember the bet but will honour it.Instead of the NSPCC I gave 10 to Naomi House , as they lost a lot of money to the Iclandic banks.I hope that is Ok?

hart as manager..

LOL

I worry about Paul Harts ability to manage a squad of 32 £60m galacticos.

What experience does he have of managing the likes of Messi, Riquelme, Iniesta, Et'o, Ribery and Hayden Mullins?

Good luck to him and Pompey.

From Today's Guardian (22.07.09) - front page of the Sports section -for the attn of Hypo :)

PREMIER LEAGUE STILL NOT HAPPY WITH AL-FAHIM'S PORTSMOUTH TAKEOVER

"The PL will block Sulaiman Al-Fahim's supposed £60m takeover of Portsmouth despite his installation as the club's chairman yesterday, subject to more investigations".

So the fat lady may have cleared her throat but her song is far from being sung.

Hypo will be getting nervous.

surely he has passed the FAPP test and so all is OK, or has that now changed? I find it interesting with your experience in your profession that you still have doubts of it proceeding.

Yes he has, but the PL still has some concerns it appears.....

I listened to Hart in an interveiw this morning on Talksport,he could hardly string a coherant sentance together and sounded so downbeat.

He stated that this was a time for some realism and not fantasy land for the supporters and that the spending that took place under Gadymak was over and it was time to do some proper scouting and look for bargains.

Not a word on now having the club on a sound footing and optimism towards the stewardship under the new owners, all sounds a bit weird to me to be honest.

Crouch is still definately going also.

Honest answer is that I don't know anymore about this than you guys have also read in the press/web.

Its just that little things just don't seem to add up.

Why release a statement about agreeing a deal "in principle" yesterday when this should have been done before due dilligence was even started.

If the deal is only agreed in principle then Dr Al hasn't coughed up anything, nor has he formally committed to completing, however Gaydamak (or whatever he's called) has still allowed him to take over control (chairmanship anyway) of his company. Why would you do that before the sale goes through.

etc.

It might all get cleared up, however as things stand it just doesn't smell right to me and if it smells like bulls**t 90% of the time it is.

I miss Ho's Pompey transfer gossip threads, he seems a little less enthusiastic to post them these days. I had to post up the 1 about Pompey looking to buy a UAE player, he must have missed that.

Might even be able to have an attendance thread soon too ;)

The crunch is when the SA bank asks for its £30m back at the end of the month. I assume Dr Who will then have to cough up and he either will, or they're in admin and Dr Who is exposed as the complete Fialka that he appears to be.

Quite possibly the most ridiculous story I have ever heard.

Why release this story? Total morons.

If you are desperately trying to generate pr to make it look as though a take over has gone through at least come up with a sensible story rather than something which it evidently total ****.

"Maradona's lawyer Angel Oscar Moyano claims his client has players lined up to join Al Fahim's Fratton Park revolution and that he is ready to quit the Argentina post he only accepted last October.

"He has got top players ready and he is even ready to leave the Argentine national team," Moyano told Arabian Business.

Support

"He wants to build a strong team for which he offers his mediation for signing players of top level, who with the support of Diego Maradona, will be ready to come to Portsmouth."

So then, actual quotes from the guys lawyer. And lawyers are very careful what they say aren't they? Still, nevermind- if he comes in I'm sure he'll look jealously at the third division team down the road :D

And although lawyers are usually careful not to say anything which will result in them being sued/prosecuted, the above hardly falls into this category, true or otherwise.

You boys will laugh at this, I know I am :D

Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona is offering to bring four international stars to newly owned Portsmouth, if the club appoints him as their global ambassador, his lawyer has claimed.

And in a further development, an advisor to new Pompey owner Sulaiman Al Fahim confirmed this morning that “discussions” have been held with Maradona’s cousin Remigio Maradona over a role for the former World Cup winner at the club.

Confidential emails sent by Maradona’s lawyer Angel Oscar Moyano claim the superstar is willing to act on behalf of Valencia striker David Villa and Barcelona hero Samuel Eto’o. The email also mentions his son-in-law Kun Aguero, who plays for Atletico Madrid and another Valencia striker, David Silva, as possible targets.

The email adds that “Diego Armando Maradona offers to work for Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim as sports adviser and talent spotter for the club around the world, and provide all his experience as one of the best ever football players as well as his media influence worldwide.”

It says that Maradona will provide his “wisdom and influence” to the team.

On Wednesday Arabian Business revealed that the former World Cup winner was, according to emails written by his lawyer, prepared to quit as manager of the Argentine national team in return for a role at Portsmouth.

Thursday morning, an advisor to Al Fahim said: “Dr Sulaiman has had some discussions with Remigio Maradona about an ambassador style role for Diego Maradona, but it is more to do with developing the youth academy at Portsmouth.”

It is understood that both Al Fahim and Remigio Maradona first explored the possibility of a role for Maradona at the club during a humanitarian visit to Kenya in May this year – both Al Fahim and Remigio Maradona are UN Goodwill Ambassadors.

“We’re talking to a lot of people about a lot of ideas to take the club forward, so it’s not appropriate to say which may or may not happen, especially regarding what are private emails,” the advisor added.

Must be true then ;)

Again, all these statements coming from "Maradona's lawyer" conveniently means that Dr Al can revel in the publicity and continue to let people believe that he really is in a position to buy the club, and then (correctly) point out that he never promised any of these things when everything falls through.

Realistically? Extremely unlikely. However, who would have thought Pompey would have signed 5 current England internationals in the last three years?

Admit it, you all laughed your ****s off when the 'Sol Campbell to sign for Pompey' stories started surfacing a few years back. You laughed with a bit less certainty when the 'David James to sign for Pompey' story broke. By the time we'd signed Johnson, Muntari, Diarra, and Defoe you'd stopped laughing a long time earlier.

The point is if you pay someone enough money they'll come to you. So what if it doesn't last forever? We've had more fun in the last 7 years than you've had in the last 30.

The bottom line is that despite the title of this thread, the takeover has NOT collapsed, Al Fahim has NOT failed the FPPT, we are NOT going down and we are NOT going into administration.

You might as well lock this one down, because remember: "It's the hope that kills you".

Not going to heppen, certainly not signing Eto'o/ Villa etc but wouldn't be surprised to see Maradona acting as some sort of "ambassador" (call it what you want) for PFC as he is allegedly quite good friends with Al Fahim. Only in the short term though. From what I hear the new investment Al Fahim wants to bring in will possibly be buying him out even by the Jan transfer window. It's clear there were always investors behind him who were providing the funding and whilst he's not exactly a pauper he's not got the funds to plough into the club that was talked about at the start.
