half the problem is - who wants to pay money into the club when we know its being run by *****s / crooks who are going to pocket it where possible and we all realise a few thousand extra through the gate is not going to touch the sides of our financial problems. Only one way out and that is a takeover by someone who actually does have money or its FC Pompey in the conference next season

I think the financial criteria for conference clubs is as strict if not stricter than the PL and would not accept you. The non league set up has had financial problems for years, this is all new for the Prem league, but you can be sure that whatever happens football finance will have to change as a result of all this. I do hope you survive but at a lower level, just wanna beat ya twice a season :D

FOR WHOM THAT ANNOYING BELL TOLLS

Fans of rich-again Southampton were overcome by relief this afternoon after a high court judge granted their south-coast neighbours Portsmouth a stay of execution, meaning Pompey will remain in existence long enough to be mercilessly taunted by them, waving wads of Monopoly money and fake-sheikh headgarb during Saturday's impendingly-boisterous FA Cup tie at St Mary's.

Do I love this - from title to headgarb :D

Times article is very informative.. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/portsmouth/article7021577.ece

They have appealed the VAT apparently but it would not be heard til June and surprise surprise they wanted it postponed till then.

More surprisingly is that pompey prepared one of these statements for the PL last month but did not send a copy to HMRC.

+ lots of other interesting bits

--

If they did prepare such a statement for the PL then one guesses it must have shown they were not trading while insolvent otherwise the PL would have had to act?? Question is then was it a correct statement or one that had been manipulated to show them in a better position than was the case?

Don't think anyone has approached the Wessex League as of yet. I'm not sure they would until the final nail is hammered into PFC.

I think given their tendency for not dying when they should that a stake might be more useful than a nail.

I have absolutely no problem at all putting myself forward as the Tony Lynam of this takeover group. :D

My brother said this morning that if he wins the lottery he will put in a bid, get through due diligence, get right up to putting his signature on the deal and then tell them to f*ck off

I laugh at all the poopey fans on Sky and BBC, saying what great fans they are. One said the whole city were Poopey fans, and that's the only shirt you see around the city.....Dohhh Yehhh!!!! the reason being, that if you wear anything else, you get the sh1t kicked out of you.

They will be gone in a couple of weeks, sure as fish smell.

The Conference criteria is a lot stricter than the FL/Pl. However, it only applies to existing or promoted sides. Any sides relegated from the FL are not subject to the same criteria. This was a concession agreed by the Conference in return for 2 up 2 down from League 1.

So the conference would take them.

so they have a week to organise a bidding war between these two massive consortiums looking to pump millions into the sleeping giant, and they also need to overturn the way that VAT is calculated in the UK.

They still don't get it do they?

It's over, let it go...

But do pop round and say goodbye at the weekend, Ted's still waving.

To be fair to them rallyboy, they do, .... It's just the story teller left now, speaking hollow words, to anyone that will listen, which judging by their message boards only leaves helen keller.

Next week, they will go.

They're *****ed.

still think i will wait for it to actually happen rather than take an enjoyment in assumptions, funny old game and all that.

by this time next week they could be in the FA Cup 1/4 final and gloating having been taken over, and I couldn't stand that.

Just got a feeling they'll somehow get away with it

got a horrible feeling they are going to get away without an punishment whatsoever :S

That's just nerves. They are well and truely up s*** creek, only a rich (and deranged) investor can save them now.

At the start of the week being would up seemed a remote possibility, it's almost as if the Pompey directors are actively trying to get liquidated. I wonder if liquidation is actually an advantage to Gaydamak?

There is no somehow now. The judge has told them what they must do.

They must show they have the financial resources to continue trading in a normal way by next friday. Meaning they have to have been takenover and cleared the debt by then. If they haven't they have no other way to save their bacon. The only reason they were given more time was because they said they were close to being taken over which would clear the debt. The taxman didn't believe it, the judge sounded like they didn't believe it. But gave them 7 days instead of the normal 28 days. That looked like a last chance saloon offer. i.e your defence is based on you saying your being taken over, if your not by next week then your probably never going to be.

They have to prove that they aren't insolvent and the only way to do that is for someone to give them lots of money right now.

That just isn't going to happen. There outgoings seriously outstrip their incomings and they've not a pot to ****** in.

It's game over.

Storrie is on the Quay right now, here's a Skate's summary:

Will not appear in Court until Monday week at the earliest. The PAYE money is in the bank and could be paid to HMRC now if they want it but they want the full amount. The club (as in the OS statement) is disputing the £7.4m VAT bill and this has gone to a VAT arbitration panel to resolve. PS said gave information to the Court today of proof of two groups seriously interested, but was hard work as they dont want their names in the press untill they take over the club. He said a third group has come in today and they are currently in process of finding out if they are serious, The club have also got a business plan to keep the club going should the potential investors back out. Danial Azougy was in Court today but only as a bystander had no imput at all. Chainrai has not offered to underwrit the money because he has not been in long enough to totally assess everything, Claimed Tanya Robbins had to do a lot of work to undo the damage done by the last owners people. Wages are covered by Chainrai for the rest of the season

Edit... some other skate's have corrected the above:

I thought he said that Chainrai will cover this months wages without reference being made beyond that.[/Quote]

er, dont be so sure about that. will be lot lower than that, 1 below conference south probably

there is no way a new club would be allowed to start in the conference

as I understand it from things already put in motion thats the level thats been talked about with various governing bodies

and no to the poster who mentioned do I still believe Storrie - of course I don't - never have lol

Ha! Just seen Storrie on the news. When asked who would want to buy PFC he basically said, "it's a fantastic club, great supporters, unique city blah blah." Completely avoided the question. :D

And did you notice his body language?

Not that I really want to look at his body any longer than necessary! But VERY shifty.

"We've got two serious buyers interested but I can't tell you who they are. I was working all night on a possible deal"

Do you know - I'm sure I've heard that before somewhere :D

Pretty sure it would have to be the same place AFC Wimbledon and Aldershot Town started which is the Zamaretto South and West (old Southern League).

apparently not as core attendance also comes into it, also the fact that we are 3 divisions higher than AFC Wimbledon or Aldershot were at their juncture - I was also surprised at this but as I understand it thats the likelyhood.

Storrie was obviously lying in that interview, you would have to be completely insane to buy that club now when you could get at after admin for a fraction of the price, and even then it's not much of an investment.

I don't think he actually knows how to tell the truth any more, if indeed he ever did.

the proper football fans of pompey have not been sitting idly, should worst come to worst things like finance, managers, league level, budgets, ground etc have all already been worked upon and the various bodies approached. You would be surprised just how much goes into raising a new club at professional level.
