Mario Lemina - Official: Loaned to Fulham

A few of comments seen on their forum:

If it was a choice between Southampton or Stoke I think I'd be choosing Southampton tbh.

&

You can never legislate for what goes on in any footballers mind these days but pretty sure almost every man jack of them would choose Southampton over Stoke if it was a straight choice, sadly.

Someone has picked up on the Les - strategy:

Maybe, but they've also finished 6-8th in the league in each of the last four seasons and are a proven stepping stone to bigger clubs. That's likely to count for a fair bit.

I would imagine his main priority was money.

Although not everyone is coping with this graciously:

As the seventh longest serving team in the premier league, and the backing we have, I really would want to know why we would lose out on a target like this to Southampton.

Another **** southern club 'polite round of applause when we score' ****s

last post incidentally from Glasgowstokie !

Lol, they have the worst set of fans in the Premier League. They think jeering players with broken legs is great "support"

Whereas we just think of players like that as a 'good investment' signing... ;-)

Last post on the Oatcake thread about Lemina quoting an RMC source saying that the player is expected for a medical at Stoke on Monday! Will try and post the link in a mo.....

Pelligrino did say he had never heard of him

Translation:

Stoke City or Southampton for Mario Lemina? Difficult to find an answer at the moment. While the Gabonese midfielder is announced on the side of the Saints and that his medical visit is even already scheduled, Radio RMC indicates this Sunday that it is rather in Stoke City that will land the former Marseillais. According to this media, Mario Lemina is expected the Potters this Monday to pass his medical visit and initial a five-year contract. An arrival that will accelerate the departure of Giannelli Imbula, coveted by AS Monaco and OGC Nice.

Worth noting that the radio station quoted is the French version of Talk****e and is also funded by money from Monaco (the principality not the club), location of one of the clubs that would purportedly benefit from Lemina going to Stoke. Would therefore take with a pinch of salt.

The original article that broke the news (ESPN) did say that Stoke were hoping to hijack the move.

Imagine we will find out soon enough but hope we get him as looks exactly what we need.

Would be the most disappointed I've been since us missing out on DaMarcus Beasley all those years ago :)

There is something in that interview we should be uncomfortable with. If this is true Are we being deceived?

Deceived how exactly ? Espn post something that says we're signing Lemina and the manager doesn't seem to be able to, or want to anyway, confirm it. Agents spread boloaks about all of the time to gee up things that are looking sticky for their client. Just because that may or may not have happened in this case nobody is deceiving us .

Searching rmc and Lemina on twitter returns rmc being used as source saying Lemina is coming here. Think africatopsports don't know the difference between Southampton and Stoke.

https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=rmc%20lemina&src=typd

To be fair, the africatopsports article also cItes RMC as being the source of the Saturday story -as opposed to the Sunday story linking the player to Stoke (none of those tweets you've linked are from today), suggesting they know the difference. Still think we're favourites to sign the player.

Only concern is none of usual press peeps are saying anything: Wilson / Peach / Blackmore / Leitch etc.

The press release is not ready yet.

Hughes on Lemina after Stoke's preseason friendly against RB Leipzig yesterday:

Pellegrino after Saints preseason game against Sevilla:

On the Stoke forum even the Stoke fans are saying that Hughes said that in a resigned, defeated way, a man who knows he's been gazumped.

MP more like when Adkins said he's never heard of Gaston Ramirez.

Stoke City 1 vote.

http://www.maxifoot.fr/football-rss265755/juve-lemina.php

But Maxifoot probably is the equivalent of talkcrap.

Looks like they're just reporting what others were saying (published yesterday, presumably before the stuff about us was leaked)

LeG has probably proved your point of the reliability of the source.

Apparently, his brother is now following Saints on instagram.

I like this interpretation. If Pellegrino was intentionally obfuscating the media, I would be impressed.
