Obafemi or Adams?

Recommended Posts

Obafemi nowhere to be seen at present...........he needs to do more than run about a bit and stick his chest out.........Adams is getting there slowly

deserves his chance hes young hungry and keen to be in the right place. Must be frustrating for Long ,but having said that Longs never been a prolific striker and therefore finds it harder ,especially as how were playing, to find any sort of rhythm  for himself to get any game play just the odd 3-5 mins at the end of matches. Cracking result tonight though....coys.

Harsh on Obafemi, he's had some cracking finishes and assists but is inconsistent, to be expected from a 19 year old. I think he's definitely got a future with us, Ings might be off next summer.

I owe an apology for doubting Adams.  For me, Walcott is worth a regular place in the team which presents the question of which regular starter to leave out.  I no longer think Adams should will be sacrificed for Walcott but they are both well ahead of Obafemi, who has slipped out of the manager's plans.  Although Walcott and Adams are partnering well in the absence of Ings, what happens in the longer term?  Redmond is looking like the weaker player up front at the moment, but plays on the left, whereas Walcott is essentially a right-sided player.  Armstrong's contribution against Newcastle, as well as his extremely well worked goal make it difficult to drop him.

I can't offer a solution.  I believe we have a star player in Walcott, one who will perform even better as becomes accustomed to the manager's style of play but I have no idea how he will be accommodated when everyone is fit. All I would say, given the subject of this thread is that Obafemi is essentially out of the picture now that another academy player, N'lundulu is now ahead of him.

Think we should get Obafemi out on loan given how far down the pecking order he is now. Would only be a good thing for his development.

Dont think he has a future here judging by RH's recent comments! That's got to hurt the player https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/18878794.hasenhuttl-explains-obafemis-recent-saints-absence/

Can't see that happening under the Crocker regime, unless we consider he won't ever make it. Loans are supposedly (in general) a thing of the past.

Really? I thought we had already started sending out some players on loan?

In his Athletic interview, Crocker said that the loans aren't the way to go, he prefers to see players develop here.

Obafemi will end up sold to a club like Norwich I expect in the future. RH doesn't seem to impressed with him at the moment and others stepping up in his place. Use the money on someone else who fits the system.

I agree with that. Ability wise, I'm not sure there's much between them. Attitude wise, they're night and day. We've been told before about Obafemi not doing what he needs to stay fit and injury free. That's unforgivable. Compare that with Adams, who's so keen to stay fit and injury free that sees someone periodically away from the club to mot his body, iron out niggles before he feels them, and keep him in top condition. That's what those who want it do.

Obafemi has the smell of someone who won't achieve his potential, sadly.

Alternatively it could be the "kick up the back side" he needs - shape up or ship out! RH probably tried telling him this in private to no avail, so final chance saloon in the public - also lets fans know he gave him more than a chance.

Massive FU by Obi if he blows this chance - has the ability, but not the work rate/attitude - just the same for the Irish team. Hope he learns and comes good but plenty have gone the other way.

With his recent improvement I would choose Adams. He's looked good with Walcott in the last couple of games and playing better and scoring can only boost his confidence. Obafemi is more of a sub. He has come off the bench and scored some lovely goals but I'm not sure about the whole 90minutes. However, as with Danny Ings at the moment, an injury can happen at any time so perhaps the club may keep him, just in case.

As i said way up the thread, i think he will drift down to non league, unless there is some massive change in attitude.

Wasn't there something a while ago that he was in with that workshy bugger Lemina and his brother - Lemina had an "injury" and yet was out on the town in Bournemouth with young Micheal in tow........ work hard on full pay...........or you could also doss about with zero effort on full pay. That is where player contracts are very poor, all of us working folk know that if you cock about swinging the lead you will be found out and ultimately handed your P45, these guys can do pretty much whatever they like without sanction, unless they do something really bloody stupid to possibly have their contract terminated.

Its a real shame because by the time these guys are 19/20 if they are in the first team they have done all the hard work.

I'm pretty sure Obafemi is eligible now after his ban. Didn't play for the u23's yesterday. I suspect he'll be nowhere near the squad, but that we'll instead see L'undulu. My monies on a loan in January. If he's really pissed them off, somewhere overseas like Belgium division 3 or similar.
