What a shit change. Saka was decent. Should have been brave and dragged off Kane. Sterling or even Saka through the middle to give us some movement.

Fuck knows who Grealish is expected to pick out.

What a brilliant game changing sub from Southgate what a manager! 😉

Ha!! Grealish on I had no issue with, it was Saka off. Worked out well in the end though.

Game of 3 chances, and England took both of theirs.

Not sure what the commentators saw in Saka, he won an early free kick and did nothing after that.

What is going on in the Bundesliga when there only CF is Werner ?

What an atmosphere there though!

Yep, absolutely brilliant. Nice to see and hear a proper ish amount of fans back in an English stadium.

Not the prettiest football, not the most exciting to watch, but jeez was it effective.

Can virtually count on your thumbs the number of decent chances Germany had, thanks to us nullifying them.

With that just needed at least one of our chances to actually be finished, and it worked for us.

As usual the pundits are going well over the top. We were ok but nothing special. Sterling very good.

That said, we avoid Belgium/Italy/Spain until the final so we won’t need to be brilliant to get there. Real chance to grind out a trophy.

Luke Shaw was very good, both goals, especially Kane's, stemmed from his key involvement. We make 'em well down in Southampton.

Chuffed that I am out Saturday night this weekend, although now I'm scrambling around for a table as I really didn't think we were going to get through!

England beating Germany. It wasn't as good as the 5-1, one of the best games I've ever had the pleasure to watch, but still a great result.

We'll not get a better chance than we've got this year.

Yep, we blew it in ‘18 when we had a decent draw as well, but the players are more experienced now and we’re home for semis & final.

Southgate is a crap manager but appears to have luck on his side. Such a hard watch though.

Certainly similarities to Saints under Puel.

Napoleon always chose his Generals on the fact they were luckily

Ground out a result and they did well in the end.

and with the easier side of the draws as well

Probably the best chance we have had in years.

Lets hope, eh?

A fairly turgid game punctuated by one piece of real quality from England and a bit of a let off just after.

Glad Kane got a goal, fingers crossed that sparks him up for the rest of the games. Also Pickford was decent, made a couple of smart saves and always seems to perform decently when I see him in an England shirt.

Overall still not convinced about England, must get a bit more positive but there's no denying that beating the Germans is sweet even if this is not their best line up.

Oh, and play Grealish from the start please.

Don’t worry I was moaning about that sub too

No we didn't. We got as far as that squad would get us, it wasn't as good as this one and Croatia were much better then than now.

Southgate doesn’t get the respect he deserves. He maybe a shite club manager but he’s not a club manager. Contrast his record with Sir Bobby Robson who everyone pisses their pants over. His first euros was an absolute disaster and his first World Cup was quarter final. Southgate has done better already

Harry Maguire got names Uefa man of the match. Very well deserved, he was great and adds a different dimension pushing forward rather than just a defender.

Absolutely spot on decision from Southgate to include him in the squad. Brilliant.

fine lines. Muller scores and who knows what happens. For me the 5 at the back doesn't work and leaves CBs not marking strikers. What do I know though.

Yep. Some people would prefer a 4-3 defeat to a 1-0 win. He's in the results business, not entertainment.

Exactly why he needed to stay on the pitch.

He couldn't have complained if he'd been hauled off though. Sure he scored, but he was shit.

Did anyone else spot the England flag with “Saints On Tour” across the middle?

The big Union Jack with Southampton was behind the goal again, there was another hanging over the second tier that I saw and also a 'Calmore Saints' one. Probably others, usually a few on show at England matches.

We were much better second half, in the first it was noticeable that we had a very half-arsed press going on, with Rice and Phillips pressing their DMs without any of our CBs stepping up, allowing Havertz to get the ball time and time again. Midfield two were less aggressive in the second half and Stones noticeably stepping forward more to cover when they went AWOL.

Can't very well sit here and complain about the performance when we've just dumped the bloody Germans out!
