And yet Still is being lynched for dropping Aribo 😆

Haha yeah. I think it depends on the circumstances.

Flynn Downes quite clearly said he doesn’t want to be here and threw his toys out the pram.

Joe Aribo probably doesn’t want to be here, but has never kicked off seemingly, it’s just been alluded that he had offers from abroad in the summer.

So his comic timing and delivery weren’t to everyone’s taste in an interview he did 18 months ago. I don’t personally find that upsetting to the point that he should have been ‘finished with the club’ because of it.

Whilst pissed (for context).

Did anyone else think that Downes' reaction on Tuesday to getting booked was a little fake and ham acting at best? If Eckert had told him to not get booked then he was pretty reckless in many of his challenges up until that point. Maybe I'm cynical but it looks like warming the bench is currently his favourite position.

I would normally say don't be so silly but I think it's clear there are some issues with Downes. Totally ridiculous challenges knowing you're a yellow away from suspension.

Im not his biggest fan but I say that was genuine, he's a west ham fan and a good chance so is some of his family, a game against Millwall knowing the rivalry would've meant a lot

No.

And as we go through yet another manager who picks him when he’s available I think we can continue to put to bed the idea that he’s not committed or a bad egg too.

I really liked this guy, then he signed for us. What a change.

A great man once said hard work beats talent.....

Downes isn't even a mercenary, he's a coward.

Liked him first season but comes across as a bit of a bellend now.

He was very important to the side two years ago in that if he didn't play we lost as we couldn't defend with Smallbone in his role. He missed 13 out of the 46 league games that season through illness, suspension and injury. That hasn't proven to be a one off either with chunks of last season missed due to illness and suspension as well as his time with Juric. While, he's only started 8 matches for us this season due to illness and suspension. Downes' biggest problem is that he's just too unreliable for us to build a side with due to his unavailability.

Personally think the fan base reaction to him just because he fell out with one of the worst managers we’ve ever had (Juric), is really weird. Even Juric brought him back in after a couple of games after realising how poor the alternatives were. He’s been injury and illness prone since we got him, he nearly didn’t sign for us because he was ill - he hasn’t suddenly decided to down tools just because Juric was shit.

No, he looked properly pissed off.

Not in the slightest. He's a WH fan, he'd have loved to batter Millwall.

A player who is hard to love. Too unreliable and I'd have questions over his attitude. With Bragg, Jander and Romeu I'm not sure we need him.

Bragg has played about 85 minutes in the Championship in his entire career, Romeu is 34 and hasn't played since making 10 minute sub appearances in Spain last spring and Jander is a completely different type of player. We need Downes.

I don't really get the criticism of him TBH. Far too many people moan about how we're always a team of, "noddy son in laws, who are too small and skinny and afraid to get stuck in and they're only here as part of a player trading algorithm and they go to Anfield and they lose 1435-0 and they applaud politely because it's such a priviledge for them to play there and our polite fans cheer and clap them off etc." Then when we actually have a midfielder who puts a few dirty tackles in and gets booked, he gets slated.

He's out sick every other week. That's my main issue with him along with being a bit questionable mentally.imo
