  1. I mean the only positive I can think of, is having him as 'club captain' a-la Kelvin Davis. Limiting the damage he does on the pitch.

And also keeping the homegrown quota up, if we're focussed on getting in youngsters from abroad

  2. Played against Danny Ings for a season or two as a boy, when he was with Winchester Whites. I'd like to say he rarely scored past me ( I played GK) but memory conveniently alludes me.

Met Wayne Shaw (piegate) a few times when I played for Eastleigh. He was helping out with cones and bibs and such.

    MLT in Sainsbury's Hedge End.

Got a smile and wave from Marco Almeida during a game at the dell.

  3. We saw it against Cardiff, if we pass and move with intent, and make runs and break quickly into their half, we'll grab more chances and goals. If we crawl at a snails pace, we haven't got a hope in hell. It's not rocket science.

As soon as Fernandes got the ball after he came on, he turned and ran. Made up about 40 yards on his own. Dibling took out 3 or 4 players on his own with a bit of dribbling. Lallana came on and showed for the ball in various positions, trying to progress it.

  4. I always think it's a bit odd to write strikers off. We've lacked a creator type since Tadic, and even then, he was hot and cold for us.

The current strikers aren't really the type to make their own goals. You really need that attacking, driving force in the final third, and we haven't had that for a few seasons now.

Thinking back to the glory days of Poch and Koeman, you've got 4 attacking players on 8 goals or more each in any given season.

  5. https://breakingthelines.com/manager-analysis/russell-martin-standing-by-his-principles-at-swansea/

Having a read through this doesn't fill me with hope. Being in possession this season didn't yield much of anything, fumbling about in the middle of the park while the other team reorganises at the back.

We've struggled for years with being too slow moving the ball forwards into the box, usually with too many players up top with no room for runs in behind or space for shots.

We need a manager who's good at moving the ball forward quickly with players making themselves available for passes, looking for the next pass forward or through on goal. It seems by the numbers that while Swansea had the most possession this season, they didn't do enough with it.

  6. Did Bruno Lage get sounded out by the fans?

Played a 442 at Benfica, 343/523 with Wolves, decent defensively.

Hampered at Benfica by not being backed money wise, hampered at Wolves by not having a reliable striker.
