I thought you ran a day nursery or is that a different poster?Why do you suppose the vast majority of nurseries are planning to return on June 1st? Maybe those who run nurseries care about their staff less? What do you reckon? Or could it be that theres a greater financial consideration that both early years workers and managers have that schools and teachers don't have? Exactly. My partner has been going in. Most of the teachers at her school have been fine. There's been a few who have come up with dubious reasons for not working, and some others who have legitimate health reasons for being off.
I'm sure most places have the same mix of resilient staff and some who will say anything to not go in.
Exactly every workplace is the same. I've worked through the whole lockdown. I had three days at home, when the government first announced the lockdown, and was then recalled by my employer, as essential staff, and have been going into work ever since. Of my team of six I'm the only one working as the rest have had reasons not to. Some of the reasons have been legit and speaking to them they'd like to return to work. Others are just taking advantage of the situation people are the same everywhere.
As for teachers my wife is a primary school teacher she has been working throughout lockdown some days in school and some days at home. She is worried about many aspects of the 1st June return which seems pretty normal to me. The government turned on the fear tactics to get people to stay at home so it's pretty natural that it is going to take people time to feel safe again. It's not just teachers who are worried many parents are reluctant to send their kids back even if the schools do re-open.

Southampton 2 - Charlton 3. End of championship season before league 1 the take over. Peter Crouch and Lawrie McMenemy begging the crowd to dig deep before the game. Bradly wright Philips and McGoldrick on the score sheet saints lost of course. It was my son's first ever game I was worried Saints might go tits up, and I might never get to take him to a saints game again, so I took him. He loved it and is a lifelong saints fan now. Terrible game at a terrible time but a special game for me.

No expert has said, “don’t conduct widespread testing”, “don’t try to trace contacts”, “don’t invest in decent PPE”, “Cheltenham Festival is a good idea”.
The government tells experts what information and options it wants within certain parameters. Ultimately the government sets policy. It’s clear that the initial response was based on the principle of not wanting to overreact and damage the economy, so it would have taken advice on possible options against that guiding premise. Then they realised they’d screwed up and did a sharp u-turn.
This is spot on.

It was this prospect which extracted a compromise of sorts from Southampton's players.
seems like the poster was right at the time but the players stepped up and did the right thing.

They are Arsenal, Bournemouth, Burnley and Southampton.
but the general tact of the article is a lot of clubs are way of saints with, regards to player wages, mostly down to the PFA.

So what's the end game here? The latest I hear is the government want to roll out testing, that shows if you've had the virus or not, and if you have then you get a "passport" to pick up your life and get back to normal. What happens to those that haven't had it? Do we just stay locked down until we either catch it (unlikely if we are stuck in our houses) or a vaccine becomes available?
From a footballing point of view if next season starts will teams only be allowed to field players who tests have shown have had the virus already?

I'm not even sure it's safe to assume next season won't be affected by the virus as well if I'm honest.Have to agree with this, though I do think every league in Europe need to agree to do the same thing.I do not want to mess up next season and the season after for thge sake of playing 9 or 10 games.

From a money saving point of view if clubs are struggling shouldn't the players be the first one furloughed? The government will give each player 2500 a month to get by and the club's can save 50k a week on each player. Where as furloughing the tea lady and kit man probably doesn't save the clubs enough money to pay a back up goal keepers wages for a week.
My guess is the back room staff are normal Paye employees while the players are not and so can't be furloughed?

I'd assume all clubs who thought they where getting, or in with a chance of getting, promoted. .66 clubs sounds like a lot, but I believe the FA's decision covers 91 leagues...assuming 20 teams per league, approx 3% have sent this letter.Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

I wouldn't. For me football is winter game part of the British football experience is watching a game while freezing your balls off in a downpour. Plus my seat in the Itchen North is murder on a sunny day can't see a ****ing thing with the sun in your eyes.Why do we need to? It would be kind of amusing watching your average PL footballer try to cope on £2500.the maximum £2,500 wouldn't cover too much of the average £61k premier league wage. to be blunt if clubs even tried it it'd be a disgrace. For their non football staff then more understandable, surely they should follow Leeds example first though.I see in rugby the premiership wants a, across the board, 25% pay cut and some players are already threatening legal action mind you I have no idea what your top level rugby player earns but I'm assuming it isn't terrible money.
I wonder how footballers will react if something similar is tried in the PL?

I'm just glad my wife is a teacher and will continue to get paid normally and that her job is safe when this all over. My work have told me not to come in for the foreseeable but I have no idea what will happen with my pay (not to mention the inevitable rumblings from management about redundancies). Thank goodness we have some reasonable savings put buy to help navigate all this. I could well see the family finances being worse off after all this. I imagine my ST will be one of the first causalities of the new reality.

I very much doubt anyone is buying, any football club, any time soon. As things stand if you really want one no doubt there will be a few going cheap as the economic impact of the virus starts to kick in in the future.

Watching the news last night a lot of people still not getting it. Hordes of people descending on parks and outdoor tourist attractions...helmets.
Still seeing large numbers of OAPs wondering around Winchester, last Friday, on my way home from work.
It will be interesting to see if parents keep their kids inside now the schools have closed down and the weather is nice.

Well according to my phone the government is forcing the closing of all pubs, clubs, restaurants and gyms. It seems asking the British public nicely not to go these places didn't really work (much like asking people politely not to panic buy) rationing will have to be the next step if people don't start behaving properly. Can't see anyway that this football season can be finished in any meaningful time frame about time the footballing authorities stopped kidding themselves..

We're just shopping normally, Morrisons yesterday no milk and very little fresh veg, same at local co op this morning. We've got enough to cover us but it's obvious there are a lot of pillocks around. My daughter has a weekly online slot so we can get her to get us anything we need.
Don't bet on it my last Asda delivery was missing 30 out of 72 items. Our next one is still a week away (had to book two weeks ago) and stuff was literally being marked up as out of stock 30 seconds after it had gone into the shopping basket god knows how much will actually turn up when it is delivered.
The country has gone ****ing nuts. Just been to our local Co-op to try and pick up some milk and bread it looked like the place had been looted in a riot shelves where pretty much empty. My son tried five different shops this morning trying to source a loaf of bread and a few eggs.

Well it's not all bad I've received a ( temporary) promotion at work. I'd like to think it's becuase I'm reliable and good at my job. Sadly I think it's becuase there are now only two people left standing in my department and the other guy is a grade A tosser that no one likes.

No chance of finishing the season in reality then if this is anything to go by.
A commitment to complete all domestic and European club competitions by the end of the current sporting season, i.e. 30 June 2020 at the latest, should the situation improve and resuming playing be appropriate and prudent enough.
