They were sh1te coz they had already won the league.
One point I will make though is they have lost 2 pivotal players in Murray in Bennett whilst we have gone the summer without any real loss. So they have made some strong signings whilst we havent, we still have Lambo, AL, Fonte, Spiderman etc and even if we were to lose AOX to Arsenal or whateverm that would spark some serious spending.
And replaced them with CMS, Hoskins & Buckley . . .

This........ and they won the league by 3 points, from now until the end of time records will show that they won by 3 points (and WE KNOW they couldn't beat their biggest rivals).
End of
Brighton didn't play Crystal Palace last year[?]

The whole idea of putting pictures up related to the away team and lighting the concourse in the away teams' colours is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. What is football coming to..
Footballs coming to treating people like sentient human beings and giving them some bang for their bucks, thank goodness. I don't actually like feeling dread and discomfort when I watch football; sorry if that makes me a 'yuppie'.
Having been to the breeze block hell of Stoke [eight mile queue for a warm coke], St Mary's [which at least is a bit spacious], Bournemouth and Brentford [where the bogs are right next door to the over-priced pie stand], and being coralled like extras from 'Schindler's List', I'm glad that clubs like Brighton are looking to make it a good experience. Bristol Rovers ground on the other hand was hardly state of the art but it was friendly, welcoming and sold chicken balti pies to die for.

Yeah I read that, but has he actually paid for it as a gift, orhas he formally lent the money, as Abramovitch did at Chelsea? Makes a big difference if he loses interest later.
His family have been involved in the club since the early 70s, so he's a fan. Apparently, he's paid for the stadium [and is putting up the funds for new training facilities] with an unsecured loan until 2023; you're right though, finances of this scale are very fragile I'd imagine and if somebody does come knocking in the future . . .
looks a parking nightmareYep - you're not wrong. There are park and rides and as mentioned earlier a train station right next door. There's only one pub in the village but the plan is to keep the concourses open for a couple of hours after the game with the food bars and beer bars [more importantly] kept open - train and park and ride departure times will be shown on the tv screens showing Sky Sports evening matches. The away end will also be 'themed' with lighting and legends from the away team pix all over the place; the idea being that it'll be a ground away supporters will want to come back to and - more importantly - not want to smash up.
Hope this helps - see you next season - in the Championship

Half of Swindon's defence is now called Brighton's defence, we weren't the only ones who took top players from last season's rivals, except that Paynter and Greer are still doing it for Brighton.
Painter was at Swansea - not Swindon - and he went to Brighton after dropping out of Swansea's first team due to injury
-
tsk - you should really be concentrating on who you can keep hold of as you face yet another season in division three

Think the Brighton obession with us is a compliment, much like cherries, and nothing to get annoyed about.
Bournemouth players and team we all singing about playing us when they got promoted last season - it wasn't about reaching league 1 it was about saints.
Brighton have been very impressive this season (results rather than style!). Its good to see a club doing well and positive. However, rather than enjoying being top, or looking forward to the inevitable championship season, the thing they are focussing on is being higher than us.
Says a huge amount about our stature in football and I like it.
it actually says more about your deluded arrogance and your current [gone in may] manager's comments about keeping up with you - you're 'stature' is a third division football team; get used to it
-
I don't think he said we would win the league (TBH), I think he said that was still our target. A reasonable thing to say, isn't it? (We're going to try to do our best.)
and your 'best' is a draw at charlton - classic
-
It looks as if we are going up; that much is obvious. Brighton may be a tinpot club but you have to hand it to them; it looks as if they will fluke the league this year after many decades of trying. The most likely outcome is that we will be promoted in 2nd place, but as we know the only other teams that would be in the playoffs we have smashed to bits anyway!
Would you want another guaranteed screamer of a winning day at Wembley Playoff final or to finish second?
Six months at the top of the league - yeah, what a complete fluke
-
Has Brighton not been mentioned because they seem to be out of the race having actually won it already?

As a genuine question to the B&HA posters, how long do you think Poyet will stay? I do rate him and it'll be interesting if a job in the Prem comes up that he fancies.
He'll be gone, Vince - no mistake. He's quoted as saying it would have to be 'very special' but money talks etc etc. The only hope for us is that the Chairman brings in somebody who has the same ethos and the same influence on the players. A lot of them are quite open about the fact that he was a major influence on them joining; that they used to watch him on MoTD when they were kids. It'll be interesting to see how many want to stay when he does go.
For what it's worth, as somebody who had a signed Mick Channon poster on his wall in the 70s, I hope we both go up.
-
However, no doubt it works - although in return fixtures it will be interesting to see if teams find a way to combat it - and they deserve to be where they are, but it's not the style of football that I like.
Yep - a passing, 'total football' style with a goal difference of +12 has been a nightmare to watch this season.

"If Brighton can keep up with us"
Seems like we're the ones who need to keep up with them Adkins.
Brighton are a far better team with better manager than Saints.
-
At this moment in time Brighton have a manager that is getting the best out of a average team, where adkins is not getting the best out of a supposedly better team............
A [paraphrased] quote from Our Lord Gus, early in the season - 'If I couldn't get Southampton promoted, I'd give my salary back'
'Average' team? Ho - and indeed - ho. GOSBTS.
-
why didnt we play in our away shirt yesterday, especially as they play in red and white. These white shirts are jinxed.
Didn't take long to blame the new shirt, did it.

Let's all kill ourselves now.

'Now. Where DID I leave my shoes? Margaret! Margaret! I'm scared Margaret! Is it time for tea and biscuits yet?'

He needs to pull his finger out. I love the man, but he was our worst player today and against Orient. Can't understand what's wrong him, it could be any number of things though I guess
fat?

The season has been blown already ,Cortese and I think that you may well know that now.
Don't panic - season certainly not over in September

Sheffield Wednesday'll be a struggle. The others will be Saints victories.
