Because managers have been sacked for worse starts than ours does not make them right. Give the guy a fair chance. 8 games in we should not even be talking about sacking a manager. He obviously has been good for us so give him some help. Maybe bring in someone with some top quality defensive coaching abilities whatever the cost. It would be a lot cheaper to coach what we have with a very expensive person who knows what he is doing than changing everything when we all know the problem is at the back. Would Man U have ever been so successful if they had sacked Fergie when their results were so bad all those years ago? Who knows. But I am not of the 'sack the manager as soon as things look a bit ropey' brigade. You build top clubs with continuity and thinking long term. We have tried quick fixes before. When were we most successful? When we had managers who we stuck with until clear something had to change. We are nowhere even remotely near that point yet. Even if we went back down. Of course I reserve the right to be completely wrong!

Surely it is really obvious to everyone what the issue is? Our defending is simply not good enough. We only got out of the Championship because our often poor defending last season was masked by our ability to score lots of goals. That ability is still there even with the big boys. We have shown that by scoring twice each against Man U and Man C. But you can't get away with the level of defense we have in this league. So for what it's worth I reckon Nigel Adkins should remain manager as he has got us where we are and clearly gets the 'how to play good football and score' thing but for goodness sake get someone in who understands top class defending. We just need to survive this season and build again.
