If the FA truely cared about English Youth they would invest more into grass roots football, Cheaper coaching badges etc.
AGREED but fed up with grass roots football being blamed by FA for quality of players, all the decent kids are taken to academies by the time there 8. Their is a conflict of interest between professional game and national teams.
Grass Roots football just carries the costs of admin because the FA cannot control the Premier league

I Have

wish the headlines were about players on the pitch and not the pitch itself
-
83/84 best team by far and the added bonus of that win at Fratton, or more to the point the manner of the win
-
Not sure about Hughes BUT if he does not get it, we better be getting a known manager with balls because we have had two yes men who, aided by poor recruitment, led us into this mess
-
As the atmosphere was so good yesterday Im assuming St Mary's was full of the proper hard core fans, no tourists or families or middle class couples or childish 40 year old men or kids or old codgers or modern football fans.
56 Years of support, good and bad, class myself as hardcore think i resent your comment

Wages will dictate most of our first team leaving and Austin is one of our highest earners.
IT may but someone has still got to put their hands in pockets to buy them, not convinced so many will go quickly

https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-03-28/southampton-2017-18-season-ticket-prices-announcement
last season they announced prices on the 28th of March!
this season they know we are deep in the mire- the club would be stupid if they don't reduce season ticket prices- who cares if it is an extra 3 home games, it is a lower quality of football and midweek games are a write off for me anyway.
problem is the club leadership is STUPID
-
Ahem, Hoddle should have been appointed instead of Sturrock. I won't go into the details of the reasons behind that decision!!!
Few years since you got to mention Glen
-
Its weird how people are saying you can’t blame Hughes for today?
Yes, he has got the players working harder and he has found a system that helps us to make a game of it.
But, at 2-1 up we could see Saints starting to crumble and 4 minutes later it was 2-2.
The next 4 minutes we never even touched the ball as the heads had gone.
Bang its 2-3 and not once did Hughes even think about changing it.
I’m sorry but I was screaming for subs for at least 7 minutes and he reacted far too late.
Semi agree we needed some extra legs in midfield , the starters had run themselves into the ground but to be fair options on bench in that area were limited

How many opportunities do you get to watch Saints at Wembley in the FA Cup in your lifetime?! Not many...!
My point exactly, the new breed have known only success
-
Well that's true, but we're bound to have a Championship/League one playoff at Wembley at some point in the next few years
Why are we bound to?
-
Adrian ******** Heath comes close!
Bad but not for me. At least we had one in the bag by 84 and at the time time we thought we'd soon be back again which we were in 86 (another bad day). In 63 it seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Surely it's time the Gods smiled on us again ?
Just feel privileged to have seen all major games played by club in last 56 years, those saying cannot be bother to go to semi final should remember that before 63 you had to go back a lot of years until last semi final.
this could be last one for another 50 years
-
Nothing in football since has come close to the disappointment felt when we lost the semi final in 63 but it made 76 even sweeter.
We may well lose but if you don't go you will regret it though it might be a long time till you feel the benefit.
Everton in 84 was a worst feeling than 63
-
Anyone seen list yet as to which Pubs will be for Saints Fans at Wembley?
Tottenham have published list for their semi final
-
Got mine and 2 lads this morning, after reading doom and gloom on here was worried about being logged out etc, but only queued for 20 mins at 9am
Nothing compared with 9 hours in 76, and outside
-
Since Fonte left , none of the senior old guard, who knew bad times, remain.NO leadership on pitch, at training hence no fight
We have a squad of cheque book players now who care nothing about the club
-
Seems to me the players don't much care for playing against lowly opposition. Bet they raise their games against Arsenal & Chelsea - marketing themselves.
Still won't be good enough, however, which means we're ultimately doomed.
Board should either resign (preferred) or start planning to rebuild properly next season for a bounce-back. Kick out lots, buy in lots, get passion back into the side.
Not many of them would get in other Premiership starting line ups !
Biggest issue for me is they do not act like a team

I was going to start a new thread on this subject but this says it all, after seeing on Sky TV and BBC South that SFC management weren't going to make any comment. Reed and Kreuger MIA yet again. When I think back to the numerous times those idiots have pushed their glossy agenda with fatuous interviews, making meaningless comments full of buzz, it made me cringe.
Always ready to duck when the bullets are flying, they need to man up and talk to the supporters not hide behind the PR.
agreed spineless and shows what they think of their customers, of course now were in the mess they want us to be fans again
-
As far as i can see we have had a complete change in policy, fro buying the best up and coming British talent to buying continental imports.
the flow from the academy has drained up over the last few years, other that Jack Stephens
-
If only we had that much power
-
Branfoot all over again.
Worst than that, Branfoot only had one good player and eventually he had to play him
This bloke has the players but sticks to the same rigid system, changes the players BUT NOT the system, its madness
-
Sack him tonight, bring Strachan in on short contract, play guys who care no matter how good
if we go down lets show some fight, today was almost as bad as Fratton last time we went down
Gutless from top to bottom
-
no protests because the hardcore have been swamped with the brainwashed customers who believed in all this "we March On" crap.
does not seem to be pc to protest these days
shame to say after 56 years of support, will be 64 in April, getting to the point where i do not give a f*ck because of the way football has gone both in general and more importantly at Saints
Was happy to protest against Branfoot and Rupert but with this lot from Guan down i see no point they do not care unless it becomes personal aimed at them, they are hanging the manager out to dry(yes he is useless but they appointed him
